The parody threads are annoying... But more power to you if you like the same references again... And again... And again... You must be Adam Sandler connoisseurs...
@edlada ... And Amazon hired this idiot to create a TV movie or sitcom or something like that sometime this year.. Please join me in boycoting that rag when it comes out. To me he's an untalented asshat.. The first time I saw him, he played in the 1967 version of Casino Royal (he was the villian) and his pathetic acting turned me clean off, THEN he went into directing.. Your right, he's nothing but a whining talentless wanker.
@hallmikeshrug they were amusing at first and I have no hard feelings towards @MehParodyBot/@unixrab but they've already begun to wear thin. I never mentioned anything about trying to stop them.
Bottom line: The people were being oppressed and the people fought back. Many points were proven on both sides. In the end, we all lost many friends in battle. I thank all of you for your courage.
@SSteve Jefferson or one of the other of the 5 (out of 34) states "most likely to secede"... which also currently receive the most federal aid dollars, natch.
@mehjohnson I've been seeing more State of Jefferson propaganda recently. Somehow they've built this fantasy where we cut ourselves off from the real tax base in California, pay lower taxes, and still have the same infrastructure.
@SSteve Yeah, there can't be many pragmatists involved. Draws attention to their issues (if they articulate any) I suppose, but c'mon. The Conch Republic movement makes more sense.
@SSteve its not propaganda its the truth ,25 percent of californias budget is from the feds, there are 570 government agenices making laws and regulationg taxing the people to death , you dont even have a clue whats really going on with the government cl has the highest paid largest government next to the feds and they think they should control every aspect of your life, liberty means freedomfrom the government , try starting a business and watch how fast the state ---ks you over for every dime they can steal
@Twain I think I have a clue. I own a veterinary clinic with two doctors and seven employees. The state government takes a reasonable amount of money in taxes.
@mehjohnson really so your aware of the last 2 decades over 20 thousands laws have been passed taxing and feeing everything from requiring a permit to build a fence to requiring sidewalks 20 miles out of town for country store front inpovements
First post in a while. If you're really this upset about the garbage you purport as being inside of those lounges, would you truly prefer it be more spread out across various forum threads?
Calm down. These things happen, and many people find entertainment rather than annoyance in it.
I think the problem is that "they" wanted a community that would support word of mouth and sales, had something in mind they didn't tell us… They had no rules. It was the wild west. They decided what they got isn't exactly what they wanted after all… They didn't count on us pesky little humans and our nasty habit of taking what is there and using it to suit us (multiple us'es here)… they thought they could control it. And they probably can through consistent moderation (and to date it has not been consistent - looks like they have backed off significantly based on the comments that are left standing now vs what got deleted early on).
But if they get what they want they then likely will have a slightly different customer/community base on here as some will vote with their feet, stop posting... As long as people keep coming they probably also won't care if those who vote with their feet don't fit their, not particularly articulated to us, vision. The market, after all, is not yet saturated. Perhaps they need to hire eHarmony to create a meh community matching service? You only can post if you fit a certain profile? (joking here just joking). And, of course, in the end they own this forum and can do what they want. Nobody died and made any of us king. LOL. Our only choices are: complain, comply, post what we want and have them remove some of it, stop posting at all, or leave to find somewhere else to get our smart mouthed community fix.
@Kidsandliz we've pretty much always had rules, which is what my post was kind of reminding everyone about. I also think our vision has been pretty clear and well articulated. Loose moderation and allowing people to curse isn’t the same as no moderation. We never said, "anything goes! there are no rules! anarchy!!!" and if you truly believe that leads to a great community then go check out the /b/ board on 4chan sometime. I’m a bit sad that the reaction has been as intense as it has been, and I take some of that responsibility for not articulating well enough that the changes were mainly for the deal thread and even then mainly the beginning of the deal thread. I guess I shouldn’t be all that surprised that people are fighting so hard against any kind of change at all, but it’s silly to me to be so incredibly upset that one tiny part of the forum changed in a way that makes it helpful to more people.
@JonT I've read everything you've said, but it still scares Barney to come to the deal thread. I understand what YOU say, but does @snapster? Are you guys on the same page now?
@JonT@JonT Well maybe the rules were articulated prior to when I was active on the forums and no one bumped them to the top – not like the search engine is useful to find anything much anyway (well maybe that has changed but I wouldn’t know as I gave up using it ages ago)… I never saw any until the moderation thread. Seemed like just about anything goes; occasionally people would get bent out of shape on occasion from what appeared typically to be due to accidental misunderstandings but they cured their own selves of that pretty quickly with really no apparent moderator involvement. Then, of course is the long running don’t have expectations, say meh to everything, mostly three star or less goods at cheap prices to make up for middling quality… along with a dose of sarcastic wit, smart mouth, potty mouth, lots of humor – some of it nerdy, some of it esoteric, some of it just plain weird and some of it laugh out loud…. But rules were not apparent to me. People more or less policed themselves and each other, if things got too out of hand different people at different times were the voice of reason… Then bam slam no more “meh” to voice your opinion on a product until much later in the game, no more smart ass comments allowed early on… had to be helpful or the “right” kind of humor (“right” being hard to define). Umm yup took a lot of people by surprise in a forum that didn’t seem to be run with a heavy hand. A culture had developed on tis own (that will happen whether or not any one makes any effort to shape it) and suddenly we were told to change a corner of it. And people reacted because that was not within expectations.
@lpsterling It inadvertently became the magic word of the day when the bazillion assorted neoprene sleeves were sold. A few people who mentioned "bath" received extra cases to their already huge order. It's been abused enough to land on the "First!" "meh," "Do not want" list of not-so-helpful over-used comments.
Not 100% sure but I think it has something to do with posts being deleted and people wanting a forum where anything goes.
If you post something that isn't useful on the forum for a particular product, you risk it being deleted. I guess anything goes on the parody threads.
because censorship.
@hallmike sad but true

@hallmike FIRST
@editorkid Well done! You get a star!!!
@billymayfield meh
Because there's always one or two in every barrel.
yes, yes, and why not.
Because I love purple.
Even Barney won't post in that other thread.
@Barney it all makes sense now
@Barney I despise purple.
bath
@phatmass down the hall on the left.
The parody threads are annoying... But more power to you if you like the same references again... And again... And again... You must be Adam Sandler connoisseurs...
@BillLehecka ... Or Woody Allen fans..
@BillLehecka - As long as they keep most of that (edit) stuff over there, I'm happy. I was about to quit meh, but if I did they would win.
@KDemo ah well... you shoulda talked to @jont before the next post....
@unkabob OMFG, thank you, I hate Woody Allen so much. Talentless whiner. Every time I see his name I want to punch a kitten.
@edlada Just go ahead and kill the kitten.

@KDemo never gif up!
...... (YES I KNOW IT'S OFFICIALLY A "JIF" BUT I WILL NEVER PRONOUNCE IT THAT WAY) ... ahem... sorry.
@WilhelmScreamer (great username btw) they're mainly @unixrab doing this: ;)
Because I posted this, though I did clarify later.
In a way the parody threads are the best proof that it was the right thing to do.
@jont ... I hope @mehparodybot sees this and takes a week off
@unixrab I see it. noted. Can't stop anyone else, but I won't post any parody threads for (at least) a week.

@JonT first off thanks, but those posts linked just leave me MORE confused over what I missed.
@hallmike shrug they were amusing at first and I have no hard feelings towards @MehParodyBot/@unixrab but they've already begun to wear thin. I never mentioned anything about trying to stop them.
@JonT water under tha bridge brah... think no more of it.
@JonT Now even on the "real" thread I notice the comments aren't moderated like they were initially...
@Kidsandliz Sadly, this seems to be true.
@Kidsandliz Yeah. I think it's because @snapster keeps falling asleep at five after eleven.
Bottom line: The people were being oppressed and the people fought back. Many points were proven on both sides. In the end, we all lost many friends in battle. I thank all of you for your courage.
@phatmass Oppressed? Talk about first world problems...
@mehjohnson State of Jefferson activists?

Why is anything of anyone a thing? Because at some point someone just said, "Fuck it."
They are not people.
They are not places.
It's an earnest attempt at humor, just as valid as open mic night over at Komedy Kornhole. Better than being like a bunch of cooped up hens.
