@Kidsandliz The van I sleep in is down by the river. That provides enough white noise for me. But if I could ask for anything extra, I’d say it needs a little more cowbell.
@pmarin@somf69 Most of the time I prefer a place it is at Least one step above a No Tell, Motel/ Hotel! many time they have sticky floors in the room. Now I also would like one that has a simple breakfast. Nothing fancy!
well most of the time when I am at a Hotel, it is due to a SciFi convention. I don’t get back to the Room till I am ready to Crash.I will be out very soon after my heads the pillow & sleep quite soundly. then in the AM I will have either a sleep mask over the eyes or have a pillow to cover my eyes.
@pmarin Replying to myself, since too late to edit. Forgot we were talking hotels. I was thinking more at home, or when traveling I’m usually in a camper.
@pmarin If I take a nap during the day, there’s one cat who will always snuggle up with me and make sure I stay put. He’s aloof at night, but in daylight he wants to be right there with his head on my arm or hip.
The original Dohm (or Marpac) natural white noise machine! Nothing beats a purpose-built motor-driven white noise generator. Other than an idling EMD 645, but we can’t all fall asleep to one of those.
I just get on YouTube and find their white noise section. As long as I stay plugged into a charger, I can get up to 12 hours of whatever continuous white noise I choose.
I have a pair of Ozlo sleepbuds that I use in concert with their in-app “white noises.” They do an amazing job of blocking out the ambient snores and in combo with my sleeping mask are responsible for my improved sleep in recent weeks.
I occasionally listen to brown noise - I prefer it to white or pink noise. (Lower frequency range that sounds somewhat like the surf.)
(OK, proceed with the inevitable fart/shart jokes. )
@nobile Didn’t know that was a thing. Don’t have spotify but have other services. But been thinking of the great days of synth in the 80’s (check it out, you young 'uns!) and if I search for dungeon synth now I honestly have no idea what I can expect.
@pmarin it’s music inspired by or remixed with or in a similar vein as dungeon crawling RPGs, is how it was introduced to new lol
But I find the way it’s repetitive/drones makes me feel sleepy, like it’s hypnotic
Music or movies ate the right volume.
App on my phone.
I… don’t? I don’t use white noise at home, why would I need it at a hotel?
@agnesnutter Same here.
@agnesnutter @andyw
Right, I suck it up and go the fuck to sleep. But seriously, I can’t sleep with noise playing in the background.
Nothing. I endure until the morning.
Hotel? What hotel. I sleep in my minivan and the nose of the trucks idling takes care of the white noise issue.

There is no better sex, than hotel sex
@somf69 Sounds like someone has had a lot of experience at the Subject? hehehe
@mycya4me @somf69 Problem is finding the right trade-off between cheapest per-hour rate, and likelihood of finding a dead body in the room.
@mycya4me @pmarin @somf69 no trade-off at all if you’re into… oh nevermind
@somf69 Disagree - at home I control the video cameras.

@mycya4me @pmarin @somf69
Embassy suits has a very nice continental breakfast.
@pmarin @somf69 @Star2236 I think I have stayed in one before. I like the Holiday inn express, Hampton Inn. Quality inn. But I have been in others!

I have an app on my phone that use. Can’t sleep in silence.
Why would I want any kind of noise? Give me silence.
@blaineg Amen to that. Even The cat understands that!
I forgot that was an option. Definitely purring or snoring cat.
But then this might happen;
/image cat meme are you awake

@pmarin Yep I understand the Cat thing! BUT he also understands that I will NOT get up till I am good & ready!
AC full blast for both whitenoise and keep the bacteria in a comatose state.
Nothing, if possible. A/C is sometimes necessary for temperature, not necessarily noise.
@Salanth Yep I agree!
Nothing.
I got my own built-in noisemaker.
Multiple hair dryers blowing on all sides of the mattress to fry any lurking bed bugs.

@PooltoyWolf Love that the linked Reddit site was called EngineeringPorn. And indeed it is.

nothing… I enjoy quiet… if there is too much noise where you are staying… don’t stay in a by the hour hotel room.
@bayportbob Or the same motel as all of the cheerleading teams at a statewide competition. (BTDT)

My Cpap machine is all I need.
