A fragrant feast of flame and flesh!
@awk golf clap for alliteration
For me “grilling out” is if I’m making burgers or hot dogs or steak; a barbecue requires something with a sauce or marinade, like BBQ chicken or ribs.
Bonfire of my inanities.
Puttin’ the Maillard on the paillard.

Dinner in Texas
Cookout to me implies more people involved. If the burgers and dogs are just for those in the household, it’s grilling out. If people are coming over for said food, it’s a cookout. Even if there is BBQ sauce on something. Still a cookout.
Just grilling. The grill is already outside so saying “grilling out” is redundant. It’s also redundant.
@ZeroCharisma most ovens have a broiler, which is an upside down grill. So technically speaking, people can grill inside, the heathens!
A socially acceptable way to get drunk early in the afternoon.
some times i call it burning meat on a grill…
