Test-Teas Tuesday: Unsupervised

10

Hi there. If you’re like me, you were probably just wondering, “Where the hell is the tea review for Tuesday?”

Well, you’re in luck. The tea review is right here! Only thing is, Brewmaster @riskybryzness was out today, so I had free rein on what I wanted to brew, how I wanted to brew it, and who got to test it.

Heading

Today I tested 2 teas, one was a gift, and one was a punishment. And when I say “I tested,” I mean I had the good one and I made @Targaryen drink the one that scared me.

The Prize:Tropical Fantasy CBD Tea
Tropical Fantasy CBD Tea

A while back, @TwinFlameTea asked us if we wanted to sample their tea. It looked great, so we said something along the lines of, “gimme gimme gimme.” They obliged, and boy did they hook us up. I have to say, starting your morning with a warm cup of black tea with fruity additions was a great idea. Because this came bagged, I didn’t have to measure it beforehand. I dropped 1 bag in 10oz of 212°F water for 4 minutes.

I gave it a solid 9/10 on looks. In the bag, it’s bright and colorful, and once brewed, it has a rich brown color.

10/10 on smells. It smelled like an island beach. Both the Passionfruit and the Mango smells came through both pre and post brewing.

8/10 on taste, which should mean something, as I’m generally a fan of light teas over dark teas. This tea tasted just like it smelled, very fruity and sweet, but not overpoweringly so.

@Chadp mentioned that he immediately noticed the CBD at work, as it helped with some back pain. I wasn’t really in pain, but it was pretty calming I think. All in all, I will definitely be drinking this again.

The Punishment: Dragonwell Green Tea
Dragonwell

I should start with a bit of backstory. If you’re familiar with @Targaryen, you know they’re a bit of an idea person. Previously, they sent me a list of teas to “try” that all sounded appalling to me. Don’t just take my word for it. Look at this:

Tomato Mint
Carrot Curry
Spinach Chive
Fennel Spice
Broccoli Cilantro
Beet Cabbage

I think @CardiganB put it best.

I think I have had the broccoli/cilantro tea …. I liked it better when it was called “soup”

So I scoured the internet (not very hard) looking for a tea that sounded like something Ol’ Targy would come up with. Luck struck when I found Dragonwell, which is apparently a pretty traditional tea. This is a green tea with Acorn Squash, Hay (yeah, like for horses), and Pistachio.

Turns out, it brews fine, despite the bag containing something that looked like you should feed it to gerbils.

Brewing

We had to take some precautions with this tea because it turns out someone had a pistachio allergy, and we wanted to be able to use the tea kettle again, so I brewed this in an individual serving cup using my handy dandy silicone tea bag. Because this was a green tea, I brewed 1 tsp in 8oz of 175°F water for 3 minutes.

Ready to Drink

@Targaryen said:

Taste: Light, a little sweet. Very enjoyable. This tea is what I’d drink on a spring or summer day. Might even be good iced possibly.
Smell: Fragrant and pleasant, something in the smell is kind of familiar.
Sight: Very light looking tea, almost like a green tea.

In fact, @Targaryen liked it so much, we gave them the rest of the tea. So much for a punishment, huh?

Anyway, I’d like to give a shoutout to Twin Flame Tea Co. for sending us the sample. I’ve only mentioned 1 today, but they actually sent us a few, so keep an eye out for more teas from them soon.

If you missed it, here’s last Thursday’s post.

Hit me up with questions or comments before @riskybryzness gets back and finds out what I did!
