You can tell how much I paid attention to this. I thought this was taking place between ROTJ and Force Awakens, but obviously it is before then, because Vader is in it.
I made my mistake because I thought Poe Dameron was in this movie. (I erroneously thought the guy at :21 in this trailer was him). You can mock me for my eyesight now, but in the first trailer, I think it was a pretty honest mistake (coincidentally, also at the 21 second mark) as it was pretty darkly lit.
@DrWorm This goes before episode 3, possibly during. This is when they first hear about the death star and they rob the plans, which is how they know they have to launch a torpedo through that one hatch that makes it all go
/giphy explode!
Yeah. Thought “hey that guy is Poe Dameron’s exact twin” when I saw him.
No shock, the trailer looks fantastic. Also like the fact that the tone of the trailer is that everyone feels more “trapped”. Like, perhaps, these people might not be surviving that long and they all kinda know it.
<Edit> Doesn’t Lucasfilm kinda hate David Prowse for being an ongoing jerk or something? If that’s true, who gets to be Vader?
Is Chewy in this film?
Chewy lives near not far from me, but don’t go looking for him, if you don’t want your arms getting ripped off your body.

A Few Fun Chewbacca Facts

The Actor Got the Job By Standing Up -
Mayhew’s path to playing Chewbacca began with a string of lucky breaks and his big feet. A local London reporter was doing a story on people with big feet and happened to profile Mayhew. A movie producer saw the article and cast him—in an uncredited role—as Minoton the minotaur in the film Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger. One of the makeup men on Sinbad was also working on the Wookiee costume with Stuart Freeborn for Star Wars and suggested to the producers that they screen-test Mayhew. The rest is Wookiee history.
According to actor Peter Mayhew, who stands over seven feet tall, he got the job as Chewbacca just by getting up. He went to the audition and was sitting on a sofa waiting for George Lucas. When George walked in and Mayhew stood up, Lucas said, “I think we’ve found him.”
During the shooting of Star Wars, Mayhew kept working his day job as a deputy head porter in a London hospital. Though he was let go because of his sudden varying shooting schedule at Elstree Studios, he was eventually hired back after production wrapped.

Smelly Costume
After they shot the Death Star Garbage Dump scene, in which the costume got wet, the costume supposedly reeked for the remainder of the shoot, even after being cleaned.

@ELUNO And by 3 I actually meant 4! Sorry!

@f00l
According to IMDB, the Vader role has voice credit going to James Earl Jones, and no one else is credited as Vader.

@f00l dammit. why can’t i just get a job by standing up? i could get hit by a bus and work for meh though. but that seems a bit painful.
@carl669
Uhhhh, cause Lucasfilm isn’t currently casting Wookiees, and even if they were, most of us are somewhat shy of 7’3"?
I really hope this movie lives up to the trailer.
@compunaut, in that, you’re so not alone.
recut and remixed.
@carl669
So what actor is in the Vader suit?
@f00l rowan atkinson?
why didn’t anyone tell me Donny Yen was in this???
@carl669
In case you didn’t know, Donny Yen is in this.
@PlacidPenguin Ip Man FTW!
@carl669 I wasn’t excited until I realized it was fucking Ip Man! Poor guy, just wanted to drink his tea…
Got my Rogue One: A Star Wars Story 3D tickets for
Thursday, December 15th.
BTW: Does anyone know if Donny Yen is in this movie?
@Mehrocco_Mole @carl669
HE IS NOT IN THE MOVIE!!!
But Donnie Yen is . . .
@Pavlov well… shit. my apologies to Donnie.
@mehrocco_Mole if he starts drinking tea in the movie, shit’s about to go down.
@Pavlov So if I blame that on autocorrect will anyone buy it?
@carl669 - A lot of people confuse Donny Yeh, Donny Yen and Donnie Yen. All three are active in the industry.
@Mehrocco_Mole - Sure.
I just realised my retro shirt that won the Woot derby a couple weeks ago is perfect for wearing to see Rogue One http://shirt.woot.com/offers/1983
@giraffalot
Good idea. I need to dig thru my woot SW shirts and pick one to wear for the local IMAX showing.
@giraffalot Great shirt!
I’m prob the last one to know this.
Kick-boxer and actor Spencer Wilding from Wales plays Darth Vader, with James Earl Jones doing the voice.

David Prowse seems unhappy.

Since I like to be an antagonist. I want to make it known that I have no inclination to go see any star wars movies – even if it’s on Netflix or HBO.
I don’t really think it’s a good story.
@Kevin I’ll play along a bit: What do you really think is a good story?
@compunaut I’m not into action movies all that much. Star Wars is a cliche and there’s no suspense.
It rox.
@f00l
I keep on meaning to watch the Star Wars movies, which naturally means I haven’t yet.
@PlacidPenguin
All causes of you
Not having watched SW films
Assign to poor @f00l.
