7 - Remember to have everything posted by no later than 11:59pm on Thursday April 28th and all submissions need to be posted to this Reveal Thread by then.
When it is time to pick the winners I promise that everyone will be considered and everyone will have a fair shot at winning. It does not matter if you are a professional artist or have never tried doing anything like this before… as long as it was in the spirit of Monsterfication you could win. Vision and Inspiration matter to me just as much as ability.
The 3 Winners chosen and announced on Friday April 29th 2022 and the Winning IRKS will be shipped on Monday May 2nd 2022.

What’s the best way to post a pic from a mobile phone?

I can’t win because I won the Christmas ornament monsterfy (thank you Joe!), but I wanted to share. On Pinterest, they showed lots of cute little projects where you take a stuffed animal and encase it in concrete and make adorable little yard ornaments. So I bought some stuffed animals at the thrift store, mixed up concrete, slathered it on, wiped there a little plastic eyes clear, and ended up with scared sad little guys with their souls trapped inside. They are the creepiest things. The concrete started wearing off so they’re patchy and there’s moss growing on them and they huddle in fear hoping someday to be free. I can’t wait to make more!

Those are great! The moss is what totally takes it over the top and then of course there’s the story/thought of their souls being locked inside forever. Too bad you already won for the Xmas challenge, I bet this would have been in the running for sure! Jeez, I think I might like to make something similar for MY yard, minis the scary and the trapped soul of course!
So, this was a pretty easy deal for me as a lapsed Catholic. I created a story as the best monster stories for me don’t start as monsters. I used a bunny from Goodwill, some leftover hair dye, Grandma’s old furs, a spare toy piece, and some found old birds nests. Hope you like.
The Easter bunny knew she didn’t have long. She realized when she woke up from her winter nap that something was amiss. SHE FELT COLD. She had never felt anything like it in her life. She had always been a magical being; she flitted through life enjoying the beauty of the world. Nobody saw her because she was magic. She did whatever she pleased, except when she slept in the winter. When she awoke, she always had this overwhelming desire to create, and did, by gathering all the old bird nests she could find. On one special day in Spring, she would take the nests from house to house. On the doorsteps she would place a nest and with her best magic, conjure some magical eggs, and leave them to be found. She had always done this and never asked herself why, it was just something she had to do.
This Spring was different. She still felt she needed to gather the bird nests, but she felt slow. And tired. And she found herself chewing at the green grass around her, and licking the dew. She had never eaten before! She was magic and never needed food, although she had often seen mortal creatures do so. She wondered what was happening to her. And last night, another animal SAW her. A dog barked at her from beyond her fence. She was terrified. Nobody had ever acknowledged her presence before. Others could she her blue, shimmering fur. She unwound some nests and placed them over her in the hope she could blend in with the sticks and leaves that surrounded her warren. That dog couldn’t reach her but hopefully no humans would come to the brush pile she called her winter home.
Then, the most horrible thing happened to her. Parts of her skin opened up and long black fur came out! It started on her back, up her head, and also sprang from her belly. What was happening to her? She pondered this and finally understood; she was becoming a real bunny. And she thought why? How come? And she realized, she had lived a very long time. She tried to think of how many Winter’s she had slept in this warren and came up with over 100! Perhaps magical creatures also have a lifespan and this was going to be her last year.
That thought made her realize she had to do something. A fire inside her told her she had to create some eggs, but these were to be infused with life. She gathered a nest, and with every bit of what magic she had left, she created three eggs. She put them in the nest she had prepared and hoped her magic had been enough.
She was very tired after using the last of her magic. She tried to remember her mother, since now she understood someone must have created her. But she couldn’t. She would fall asleep and ask her brain to remember her mother’s face. But all she could get were feelings in her dreams of her blue crown being placed on her head, and perhaps a soft face rubbing hers. Nothing more.
She has waited with her eggs for some time now. Every day more fur arises on her. She chews at the grass and licks the dew in the morning. She touches her eggs and can feel life in them. They will be magical beings, she knows it. When they are born, she’ll place her crown on one of them, and that will be the new Easter bunny.
She eats, she drinks, she waits. She sleeps, she dreams. She hopes her firstborn comes soon.

When I first showed spiderdog to a friend their reaction was “Aww” so either I’m bad at making creepy or have weird friends. Probably both. I keep trying to come up with ways to make it more creepy but know I’ll end up putting it off till it’s too late to post so I’m just gonna go with what I have.
This is spiderdog, while looking for a plush to use as my base I also found this weird heart with arms that can hug stuff so I got that too, not really set on a plan yet. I decided to use the arms, and then frankenstien some more legs on, once I had more legs more eyes seemed like an obvious choice, thus spiderdog.
Hot glue was my mvp here. Used it to attack my various legs and eyes, to make the fangs, and also the webbing. And then just a tasteful amount of fake blood.

@Star2236 Initially I had 2 baby legs to use, but at some point between gathering materials and assembly Freya decided she needed a leg and I still haven’t been able to locate where she is hiding it.
But I think it might be better with just one.

Materials: handmade with yarn and stuffing.

@rinrinrin Nice of you to keep it in a plastic bag. Is it crocheted? Is it hard? It looks hard. And yeah it’s adorable.
@sammydog01 yes, crocheted. The sphere of the body was relatively straight forward, but the red spike proteins were a bit fiddly.
I thought the other passengers might feel more comfortable if Corrina had both a facemask and a (full body) face shield
Another contest, another last minute partially finished abomination.
I found this stuffed ferret at the thrift store and really liked it’s shape. Didn’t know what to do with it. Then I was scrolling through Prime Video and saw a bunch of Nicholas Cage movies. Love that guy. They had Face Off for sale. Hmmm.

@sammydog01 I had an appropriately sized doll and a brand new (reconditioned) Dremel 3000 I wanted to test out. I meant to make a saddle, less stupid looking reins, and maybe some better clothing for the doll. I expect to keep playing with it until it’s less crappy.

@sammydog01 Wow! That looks extremely cool! I love that it’s creepy without being gory or gruesome.
It’s interesting actually that all of the entries so far are more creepy than gory; it’s like people have a harder time bloodying up stuffed animals.

Happy Midnight hunting! Not exactly what I had in mind. Consists of my dead plants because my thumb is very much black, empty skull head vodka with discarded Mardi grad beads and led lights and the paw of my little shelf hanger buddy that I dropped last week and haven’t had a chance to glue back together oh an an egg in plain view but do you trust it? Cost me the price of an egg everything else is mine. Vodka bottle was free as were the beads. LED lights were from burning man but I guess I bought em for $3 a couple of years back and my little now legless shelf buddy was a buck at a garage sale.

I have an animal picked out (spent a whole dollar!) but did not have time to play. Boo. Stupid life getting in the way.

All supplies were inherited a few years ago. I was pleased the paint had not dried out or turned weird in some way. Way past the deadline by my clock but it is nearing 11:59 somewhere. I think I need a drink. Should have started there

She saw my attempt and put me to shame. The true bunny destroyer is Ginger.
Going for the role reversal of a little girl dragging her teddy bear around, but with a psycho twist. Sweet dreams.

Love it - so funny, a great interpretation of those bloodthirsty deities.
I was inspired to use some googly eyes that I had leftover from the ornament challenge to create a “Scare Bear” for this challenge. The purple bear and baby arm are from Dollar-ish Tree; mini balloon dog ornaments from Walmart; large balloon dog from Home Goods (part of my private collection); face and tie were printed (I tried to make the face from clay, but that didn’t go well); octopus necklace I think was from T.J. Maxx; Mini-IRK bag is from Mini-Meh (not really). No drugs or alcohol were involved in the making of this project. Really.

We should do another one soon. I’ve been really busy with my dads cancer and taking him to drs and forgot about it and all the other million things I’ve put to the side lately. In my basement is a half mutilated stuffed animal I need to toss. Also with Easter I’m sure it was bad timing for other people too.

@Star2236 Yes, forgot to add that to the list. The box said size 8 but the shoes were size 11! And I wear 10. Very distinctive looking shoes, somebody at Goodwill will enjoy them
I’m having so much trouble getting pictures to post where I want them. My dad always called the little knit hats dunsels, but I found out as an adult that he made up all kinds of German words, So I’m not surprised. It’s interesting when you think you know a little bit of German and anytime you say anything people look at you like you’re insane because it’s completely made up

I honestly thought there was am mistake when I got an IRK and then reread it and did a happy dance that it wa sin fact intended for me! Ginger grabbed her win right out of the box as I was opening it. Thank you @KoolhandJoe we are both thrilled with our IRK!!

Got mine last week, finally opened it yesterday. I don’t think I got anything that wasn’t in other boxes too, so I’m not gonna list it out. But I found a lot more useful items in this one than a typical IRK.
