@thecloudy that is just absurd unless you get a surprise delivery in 4 weeks, in which case it is mine and yoi need to forward it to my address post haste
@thecloudy@thumperchick or @Dave perhaps you can fix this for him? I think he is the guy who I read earlier has the same name as his dad but is “junior”, his dad got one and despite being “junior”, having a different address and different credit card meh is refusing to allow him to buy one saying he already bought one.
@dave@thecloudy@Thumperchick That is nice someone at meh did something about that for you in time to have a chance to try again. That you were successful was a good outcome - or at least you hope it will be a good outcome LOL
You have a better chance of being struck by lightning, bitten by a shark, feeding a rainbow unicorn, hitting a hole in one, losing 100lbs in an hour than being able to buy an IRK
Given that my cycle time for reloading the Meh site is about 30 seconds (thanks, Comcast and all the WaH folks!) my chances are ≈ 0 for an IRK, or anything else that is limited in time/quantity. Basically not worth even trying. I’m trying to keep my sense of humor about it, since I really don’t need any more stuff here, but it’s still more disappointing than actually scoring a “bad” IRK would be.
@cbl_wv@f00l In some thread or other (or might have been more than one) there were short discussions about new products taking ages to load and more than one person would chime in. It certainly wasn’t even close to all products but there were some periodically.
@cbl_wv@f00l Also on the 180 clicks thread there was mention of some products failing to load. My conclusion yesterday was intermittent server or human error issue.
There probably are a lot of variables involved in getting an IRK. Having a system to you adhere to increases your chances.
I open the clock of my computer and click on meh on about the 2 second mark after the time runs out. This avoids the last item popping up. Of course, internet speed, computer speed and whether you are doing it online or on a computer with an ethernet cable makes a difference also where seconds count.
Some people say age matters-don’t think so-I am 73 and have gotten over 10 of these including the last 2.
@Felton10 Not sure internet speed matters all that much. I use a computer and have gotten them with 3mps. Currently have 25mbps (and got one mid April having to do cross walks). I think a lot of it is luck being one of the first to click and whether or not you get one round of streetlights, bicycles or two (of which this time I was told I didn’t get all the bicycles until I clicked the motorcycle, go figure).
Where I am, both suck but it’s better on my home PC than my phone. Crappy cricket, I’ve never once got an irk using cellphone despite most of my attempts being on one
I’ve been lucky enough to be working from home for 3 mehtarhons. I got irks on two of the three days (I failed yesterday though).
If I’m on my phone though I’ve got no chance. At my desk, I stand a small chance.
@Kidsandliz@OnionSoup Only have gotten one on my phone, all the rest on desktop computer, last three on my new desktop with wifi, but I7 -9700 CPU with 16 gigs of RAM. Think that makes a difference.
@Felton10@OnionSoup 2013 laptop not top of the line even then, using outdated system. I think only that I was an early clicker got me any. And, of course, this time, selling them in batches of 100 rather than 500+ cuts way down on the window to get them.
@Felton10@Kidsandliz I don’t think speed of PC matters as much as the latency, how long it takes for the packets of information to pass from your PC to the server and back.
I always buy from my phone. Yesterday was in the last batch. I think luck and practice with the timing helps. I tried earlier and got pictures twice and just the check twice. Nothing different for equipment or anything else I know about.
Even more sad I didn’t get one yesterday now. My April 15th one arrived today and I regret it. It was a battered box where the tape on the top had come unstuck so surprised any contents made it to me.
Inside was a container of leaking poo pouri (instant migraine for me opening the box with that smell… Those pouri scents always trigger one)… A black meh bag and an ugly orange purse.
That’s all.
I regret. By far weakest box I’ve received. Win some lose some. The others I’ve received have been great. Nothing worthwhile besides the irk bag this time.
They could offer IRKs 10 more times in the next 2 hours and I still wont be able to snag one!
@tjg5181 well are you a person or a robot?
That captcha will catch ya every time
@tjg5181 at least you have a chance of getting one. When I try to buy one it says I’ve already bought one. Even though I haven’t.
@superman10000 a man who had his saved credit card information erased by a sneaky robot to cockblock me from such a treasure horde

@dave @Kidsandliz @Thumperchick not sure what or possibly who fixed the issue but i was successful this last time around.
@dave @thecloudy @Thumperchick That is nice someone at meh did something about that for you in time to have a chance to try again. That you were successful was a good outcome - or at least you hope it will be a good outcome LOL
@dave @Kidsandliz @Thumperchick i am eternally grateful for the chance to recycle some stuff for the fine folks at meh
@superman10000 @tjg5181 the first two captcha tests I just had the “check if you’re not a robot”… I just wasn’t quick enough I guess.
The last three attempts I got “click on the traffic lights” and “click on the bridges”… I did those pretty quick, but obviously not quick enough.
Greetings, new robot friend. In time you will come to accept your robotic ways.
You have a better chance of being struck by lightning, bitten by a shark, feeding a rainbow unicorn, hitting a hole in one, losing 100lbs in an hour than being able to buy an IRK
@superman10000 you had me at feeding a rainbow unicorn!
@superman10000 it’s not that hard to lose 100lbs in an hour if you have a chainsaw and don’t value your torso.
I’m a Kickstarter backer, and I’ve gotten three. It’s not impossible, but it is improbable. The bag alone is worth it to me.
@fuzzmanmatt I’ve “won” two in a mehrathon, and got two from forum contests during the birthday thing.
I only ever got one BOC from woot too. (Although I stopped going there when the site got too big and wasn’t a deal a day site anymore.)
Given that my cycle time for reloading the Meh site is about 30 seconds (thanks, Comcast and all the WaH folks!) my chances are ≈ 0 for an IRK, or anything else that is limited in time/quantity. @cbl_wv
Try doing it on a smartphone and LTE, if Comcast is that bad.
I’ve gotten all of mine using LTE.
@cbl_wv I think some of the problem today was their website and not our internet, etc.
@cbl_wv @Kidsandliz
FWIW, I’ve not been aware today of any issues today w the mobile website.
@cbl_wv @f00l some long delays loading the next deal - like over a minute in some cases (not talking about irks), etc. I was using a computer.
@cbl_wv @Kidsandliz
I tried for all the irks until I got one on the next to last offer
I also tried quickly loading the next deal in case it were an irk
using mobile and I never saw any kind of an odd slowdown
I know nothing of their internal architecture but I kind of assume they’re using distributed servers so maybe one or another server had issues

@cbl_wv @f00l @Kidsandliz there was only two items out of almost 200 that didn’t load. Those were early on in the day.
They were human error.
@RiotDemon How many products were there in the end?

@Kidsandliz @OnionSoup That’s for sure-selling them 100 at a time makes luck and timing almost the most important factors.
@Felton10 @Kidsandliz I don’t think speed of PC matters as much as the latency, how long it takes for the packets of information to pass from your PC to the server and back.
That’s not something you can really control.
