March Video Event – Cheers!
10We’re already part-way into March and that means in less than a week people will take to the streets and gather together in a celebration of…uh…dressing up in green and getting absolutely hammered for reasons we don’t completely understand! But hey, celebrating holidays we don’t know the meaning of by drinking is kind of America’s thing! In the spirit of inebriated camaraderie we raise a glass to you and say a hearty “cheers!” quickly followed by an unexcited “meh”.
Post a video of you raising a glass to us. What’s in the glass? Who cares! Feel like giving a quick toast? Go for it! Want to just stare awkwardly at the camera and drink? Sure, why not. As long as you give us a cheers the rest is up to you.
The Rules:
- Keep your video to 10 seconds max
- Make sure you’re cheers-ing straight into the camera, I’ll have a video up later demonstrating
- Pants optional as long as we can’t tell one way or the other
c. Whatever you drink doesn’t have to be alcoholic if you’re not into that sort of thing
d. Bonus points if you chug the whole thing instead of just taking a measly sip
e. More bonus points if you drink out of a weird container (crystal vase, boot, hat, etc.)
f. Extra extra bonus points if you make something creative and post the recipe along with your video. If you need some inspiration we have a good amount of terrible ideas and you’ll even get a button out of it, in addition to your sweet new badge.
We're going to be using these for something so make sure you're okay with having a video of you drinking something on a dumb ecommerce site.

What’s in it for me?
Everyone that posts a video will be rewarded with a never-before-seen temporary forum badge that'll be displayed until the end of March. Just like last month these event badges will override every badge other than scapegoat (sorry @BillLehecka). The badges will be awarded after videos get posted.
The two videos with the most stars and one staff choice will be sent a prize on top of their badges. Congrats to @BillLehecka and @PurplePawPrints for winning the star votes and @marklog for winning staff choice, what a horrible mistake to encourage his behavior! Honorable mention goes to @JasonToon for his creepy/seductive public library kiss. Prizes will be on their way to you by Friday.
In the spirit of the season I've decided to tackle The Green Goliath. I'm going to post the video of it tonight. I can’t believe I'm going to do this. In addition to my Drinking Terrible button I expect a personal apology from @matthew for suggesting I drink this abomination.

Well... I did it this time... Yes, I borrowed something from my son... No it won't be used for him again.
Margarita from Scratch....
Mix: 1 cup lime juice
1 cup Lemon Juice
1 cup orange juice
2 cups water
3/4 cup sugar
Per glass:
1 Shot tequila
1 shot Triple Sec
This mix is more sour than sweet, It's great for if you want a drink but not a whole lot of sugar in it. The OJ adds a LOT of sweetness without a lot of sugar (original mix had 3 cups of water and 2 cups of sugar without any OJ)

@sohmageek My brother was a cheap ass at his wedding and didn't have an open bar. To be equally cheap, I filled a baby bottle full of Jack and brought it in to make mixers with. I had to keep it on me in case it got in the wrong hands.

The Green Goliath
Ingredients:
Not pictured, but used: cayenne topping & egg white
I originally was going to drink out of the stein, but it wouldn't show off the signature color enough, so I switched to a Bormioli Riserva Double Old Fashioned glass.
The final product:
It looked so unnatural and radioactive it practically glowed.
So how did it taste?
Honestly I don't know how to describe it. I think chugging helped me to not taste it, and my brain probably gave me an assist by blocking it out too. There was an extremely strong pickle juice flavor and then you get hit by layers of each liquor and cayenne and it feels like your brain is going to explode from trying to process it all and then it's over. Do not recommend.
The worst part?
I had to do this twice, back to back. My wonderful SO volunteered to film the video, so she got set and said "3, 2, 1, go" and I went right into my cheers and chugging. When we looked back at the video I had started too early and the beginning of the video was cut off. I considered the cop out route of just using Mt. Dew for the second take, but it didn't look right. I knew I had to do it again, and do it right. I drank two of these monstrosities. I chugged the equivalent of 6 shots in about a 15 minute period.
@JonT This willingness to do--indeed, to drink deep of--the ridiculous and painful, this is part of why we love you so.
i have a work thing tonight, so after I'm a few pitchers deep I'll go home and work on this.

@marklog yeah that would be cool! What kind of rules do you want to have? Should we use the same recipe, or just the same style? I think it would be hard to judge if I made a hefe and you made an IPA since the style are so different. Maybe we can get official support from @jont?
@Kevin lets say its got to be a hefe, but any recipe. Once we send the bottles we send the recipe.
@Kevin however, i think we should send a few bottles to HQ. There is more than one craft beer nerd that works there. They will form a panel. I say this with confidence, but with no authority.

My milkmosa served in the top of a grinder lid. Champagne, milk, fresh-squeezed orange juice and slices, Tinker Bell, whatever residue was all over the grinder lid. Pants were optional'd.
Ten seconds schmen schmeconds.
Directions: Buy one 40oz of Olde English 800. Tip some out for Eazy-E until the contents are level with the top of the label. Fill it back up with orange juice. Drink.
