@speediedelivery Actually at some point someone had a bunch of trophies they were going to send us (not a flask but I don’t remember all the details how they got them)… except… well… @heartny and every other goat since the month that was announced is to blame for that!

@Kidsandliz @speediedelivery I bought 2 of these little Screaming Goats in Marshalls. I thought they might make cute trophies of sorts for a deserving goat, I don’t know how to decide who would be the unfortunate lucky recipient. Any ideas?

@heartny @speediedelivery I wish I could remember (tried a quick search and it was overwhelming) who had the trophies that never got sent. I wonder what happened to them. People could send postage and get them if they wanted them. We need a trophy thread started by someone from way back when by goats got them where they can post their trophies.

@heartny @Kidsandliz @unksol If you have skills / resources / desire you could consider setting up a CatCam, either periodic or live, for your goat page. That would be a lot of filler for the thread.
Others here have posted from their backyard cams, so could perhaps have their baby arms twisted to give info and/or help.
OTOH, you might then generate lots of comments and questions inviting responses to further burn your time.

@heartny @unksol OK see 8 now that they have rearranged themselves. Might eventually only have 7 though as I don’t see how the black one can breathe now since in this photo its head buried. LOL

I can’t imagine how it is comfortable for the ones on the bottom when they are in huge heaps though. Clearly they don’t mind since you don’t have snarls to get more personal space.

Going to be cute when these guys are 2 yo and fully grown. You may no longer even have a desk corner that is yours.

@heartny @Kidsandliz @phendrick lol I have cameras. They are intentionally not pointed at anything interesting for a number of reasons. No one wants to see me naked and I might need to catch the phantom not using the litter box

@heartny @Kidsandliz was the largest dog bed at Walmart and I thing they are pretty full grown. I had thought it would be sufficient but I’m looking for a 36x40… I think that’s as large as I can go on that side of the desk. there aren’t many with side walls

I actually have some human foam beds that are cheaper than yours. Walmart clearance. And One of those is already cut down and might make a nice dog bed. It’s more the sides/containment… That would fit on the desk. I’m trying to allow them on the desk since I can’t stop them following me. But temp them a place that they just go to sleep instead of trying to run prod commands on my keyboard.

@unksol On a bookshelf near my front window I have a large shallow box from Costco (I think a fruit box?) and I just put an old pillow and a fuzzy blanket in it. My former cat Django lived in that thing.

@Kyeh oh they have many other beds.they have 5 that are heated. Then another 4 or 6. There is just an old pillow in a box that Sam uses. A few don’t even like me. Lol. So some pile up in one of those

I’m just consider maximizing this single one on the desk because it seems to be a thing. They follow me to work then end up piling in. Sometimes a few don’t fit.

Our cats sleep wherever they want to. And they don’t sleep in a cat pile since they’ve gotten bigger. We have three bay windows; one in the bedroom that looks out to the front of the house and two at the other side of the house, the family room and dining room. Both the bedroom and family windows have cushions in them for the cats. When Pancho got sick last year, I bought a couple of these warming mats, that I put in the family room window.

The cats have the entire living room (Brian built a “sleep center” a thousand years ago, with shelves and baskets with bedding. There’s a futon, there’s an armchair, there’s an ottoman, there’s a Mickey Mouse pet bed on my sewing machine, there are multiple comforters spread out on a spinolater (a thing that you lay on that has rollers for your back, we bought it from our chiropractor a long time ago). There is a papasan chair in the office for them, a folded up towel next to Brian’s desk, and, of course, the two chairs we use at our desks. Fury has usually commandeered at least one of them, leaving the human to sit on the edge while working.

They also have multiple places in the backyard. And one shelter type thing that holds a large dog bed. We have one on top (the roof?) and one on the bottom. Right now, with the rain, the entire thing is covered with a tarp, so it stays dry on the bottom. No one hangs out on the top of the tarp.

So, I guess the TL:DR is “I got nothin’”.

We try to get litter from Walmart, the Special Kitty 40# container. I like that sometimes they can ship it for free with Walmart Plus (depending on availability) and we’ll get three containers at a time.

As for “more sense”? Yeah. Like taking in a pregnant stray and keeping the entire litter after you vowed to anyone who would listen “no more kittens!”

Tell me again who has “more sense”?

Have two of those thermo kitty mats plus three beds now. First two beds were from like 2013 and still going. They make pretty decent stuff. Plus all the other randome beds/cat trees etc.

The Walmart litter is still good but sometimes they are out when I’m there. I usually have 200lbs around. The bags are strong enough for disposal too. Rural kings is ok but a little more dusty. Trying some pine/should be less work if I can convince some of them. And then sometimes someone just doesn’t use one which is hard to find out who.

Was scooping today and one of the boys just took a piss in the shower pan next to me… Which eh. I could be ok with that lol. Easier than toilet training. That shower isn’t even complete but the drain works just fine so…

From your link 40 lb is $20. From Walmart a 40Lb box is $12 and works really well. I think a 40lb bag from rural king is $11. Any time I’m out I grab some at this point.

My drive is pretty steep gravel. And because of of the sloap of the road and a corn field and improper county drainage ditches, when we get heavy or constant rain it all dumps down my drive and creates ruts. So. Not a place you want to back in or back out with a UPS truck.

It can be done/done it in a U-Haul. They know better but one substitute driver tried to drive through my yard up a hill and got totally stuck. Honestly… Who told you you could drive through/tear up my yard. But I didn’t say that cause she was clearly having her day ruined/we couldn’t get her out/had to call her supervisor for a tow so. No desire to make her mistake worse by complaining.

Anyway, they put up with me pretty well now, having to walk down the drive to deliver amazon packages etc. Which again. Steep. Rutted. Could be icy in winter. Some times things are a little heavy.

So even when there is a huge subscribe and save plus coupon on cat litter from amazon when you buy 4. Or whatever where it’s competitive. I just. Can’t. If they can pull up in your drive and just drop it off. Sure. Or carry it from the curb. Or it’s one bag/box.

But the frequency/volume I would need delivered. I just can’t do that to them. Carrying 40lb bags/boxes. Is no big deal to me. But I can back down the drive. It would ruin their day.

Now if I could order a pallet, and it came from a freight company with lift gate at a reasonable price. That is a one off. They are equipped for that.

I just… Can’t ask a delivery person to do that considering my drive especially when I can easily handle it myself as long as they have stock.

I’m sure the one cat it can make sense. But. Economy of scales going on here. Unfortunately.

Also the whole pine litter thing is viable and could go in the compost pile instead of hauling to the dump as much if they cooperate. Realistically I just feel bad about having anyone deliver anything heavy due to being too walk down the drive. I’d rather go get it.

If I could put “leave at end of drive” maybe but no one seems to let you do that.

Basically the goat thread is a place to share/place blame for things that are going crappy for you that day during the month.

Preferably nothing… Absolutely Horrible. If you blame me for the Nazis I’ll have to decline. But you know. “Blame” for bad things. A place to vent/commiserate/get some sympathy or attempts at humor relief. A scapegoat for a bad day/thing.

Unblames for good things people want to share are also accepted.

If you look at @kyeh link up till early April 2021 there is a link to the thread for that months “blame” for examples.

@thumperchick, @extramedium I see what you did there, any chance you will go back and add the actual thread links for the ones that just have the goat name? There are a few of those I’d actually like to re-read and I know I can find them but the index does look convenient.
