Look Smart Trivia: Blurry Newspaper Mastheads

14

Hey, thanks for the birthday well-wishes on Friday! Before we get into the action today, here’s a big announcement. This week will be the end of this “season” of Look Smart Trivia. We’ve done over 100 of these now, and we’ve learned a few things about what works and what doesn’t. So it makes sense to take a break to retool and bring it back in a form that’s more fun for more people. We’ll talk about all this more this week.

For now, though: here’s today’s game. You see below you five smudged logos from five newspapers around the world. Be the first to name all five and you’ll nab that $5 Meh coupon. Insert signoff catchphrase here!

Our 1974 video last Friday was old news to @lehigh:

  1. Expo '74 in Spokane (the first environmentally themed world’s fair)
  2. Harold Wilson, Labour Leader, claiming right to form minority government after Conservatives lost seats
  3. Mike Douglas interview with Mama Cass Elliot, shortly before her death (her last TV appearance)
  4. First object scanned with a UPC bar code in Troy, OH, video featuring Norman Joseph Woodland
  5. Call by Patty Hearst, going by “Tanya”, to explain the bank heist by the Symbionese Liberation Army
