Look Smart Trivia: '80s Album Covers

5

Thanks to MTV, the '80s were the first decade where the album cover was no longer the most important way for a band to express something visually - or at least show you what the band members looked like. And with the rise of cassettes and, later, CDs, it didn’t pay to put a lot of fine detail into your cover when most of your audience might only ever see it a few inches wide. But despite all that, the '80s produced some iconic, or at least eye-catching, or at the very least, inescapably ubiquitous album covers. Be the first to name the five shown partially here and you’ll win a $5 Meh coupon. That’s a dollar per album - beat that, Columbia House! Insert signoff catchphrase here!

@steelopus won the Battle of Google to track down the locations of our Battlefield Monuments quiz. All we can offer is a $5 Meh coupon, but it beats an unmarked grave in foreign soil:

  1. Leonidas Monument, Thermopylae
  2. Gettysburg National Cemetery
  3. Verdun Memorial
  4. Battle of Stalingrad memorial
  5. Battle of Gallipoli
