@Veloslave My point? That this item sucks and I wish it was something else. If it were under $5 i'd probably buy just because I like to grow my flashlight hoarder pile, but at $24 its a Meh for me!
@GiantTarget One thing about the HF flashlights is that while Free is nice, they require 3 AAA batteries. You can get a better Cree flashlight that is brighter and better for usually under $5 and it only uses 1 AA battery. In my book its worth paying a few bucks for the flashlight to save on the battery quantity and type.
Or... OR... you can get a 1000 lumen Convoy M2 from Fasttech for the same price which is much smaller than this, has a single emitter, is easy to mod, and has 5 modes (low 50lm, med 400lm, high 1000lm, strobe, and SOS). Or you can buy this if you don't want to wait 2-3 weeks for shipping from China. Sorry meh :(
@cjrhoades Thanks for pointing me to fasttech, I had never seen the site and it looks great. I've been buying from meritline for a while but fasttech seems like to have great deals on some stuff.
Oh.... cool looking flashlight!!! (reaches for the "Buy Button) then he sees 400 LUMENS? Little too "cool" of a flashlight this time.
Dang Meh... I need a SUPER cool flashlight... not an anemic little wussy thing like this... does it come with a book clip for reading?
Next time, 1000 lumens MINIMUM! I mean let's face it... considering the Weber–Fechner law you should go REAL big so you can truly see the difference and most of all win the "Flashlight" measuring contest around the campfire!
@cjrhoades That one takes my favorite 18650 battery. Not everyone has that battery around the house and the charger but, if you do, it's hard to beat that battery type.
Pretty decent reviews on "Toolmonger", but meh, I have to pass. I do think I have a flashlight fetish though, as they said, "We never met a flashlight we don't like!." I really like my Black and Decker that lights up my huge backyard, has a built in BIG MAGNET to put in the car hood, and an adjustable neck..Just don't let it get near my Computer please. They don't care much for BIG ASS MAGNETS!
"What that means is that an 800-lumen flashlight will not seem more like 1.41 times or 1.25 times as bright as a 400-lumen light, depending on how you look at it." I think you meant to take out the "not" in that sentence.
The pitch needs some work. You only need to go as far as Amazon for a 1000 lumen flashlight that is less than half the price of this one. Compared to a 400 lumen, the difference in brightness would be worth a difference in price if there was a significant one, but there isn't. The most recent one I got also takes a real battery (18650), has a beam focuser, and sticks with the one fucking mode you need in a flashlight: ON. Seriously, low/med/high doesn't bother me, but who the hell needs strobe? Am I missing a practical purpose for it that's common enough to warrant its presence on 99% of flashlights on the market these days?
@rschauer Clearly. For one thing you have to find a different form of entertainment, and for another, all those flashlights with strobe functions aren't being used to their full potential.
@Al_Coholic Yeah, I guess I should be out robbing liquor stores or something instead of relaxing after work with a movie, a joint, and a burrito. Sounds like a blast. And the strobe on my $12 FastTech flashlight is totally going unused. It's about time it became something more than an annoyance.
@rschauer Yeah it sounds like it. Smoking is bad for you after all. And running from the cops will help you work off some of the calories from all those burritos you're eating.
@Al_Coholic You've talked me into it. Just need to get a gun, then I'm heading to the liquor store with my 3-mode flashlight at the ready. I'll let you know how it goes.
I had my money out.. Ready to buy.. Read the specs.. THEN it went "Sold Out".. Damn! Lucked out again, now I can buy that thousand cheese whopper I've been wanting all day.
@unkabob seriously- i have 4 of these, and if you score a multi-pack of the 18650's and a charger for around $10, you still come out waaaaaaaaay ahead. The downside is you keep buying more of these and have them everywhere...
@alacrity ... Tell me about it, I have over a dozen various flashlights but can only use one at a time.. Woe to we who just keep collecting 'em.. Some kinda new hobby I guess. I'll check into the multi-pack (oh my gawd! did I just say that?).
I received this today and I'm very impressed! It easily illuminates anything on my property from the furthest away point I can stand.. (I have about 3/4 acres). It's far more powerful than the cheap AAA flashlight I've been using when walking my dog. I'm happy.
I received mine today; it is freaking awesome! The high setting is very bright, illuminates my room in daylight :) I'm just not a fan of the strobe settings, I wish those could be turned off.

Ehh, already have too many darn flashlights!
@Stallion So do I... so what's your point???
@Veloslave My point? That this item sucks and I wish it was something else. If it were under $5 i'd probably buy just because I like to grow my flashlight hoarder pile, but at $24 its a Meh for me!
Come on meh. Give me something I want.
"Every other thing you will ever want to do with a flashlight....."
now that's kinky....
@eeterrific heh, no comment.
@eeterrific Ahh.....beginning to get interesting. Please go on.
So it's like the lanterns but brighter. Meh I'm good.
why don't flashlight makers include a lanyard on every flashlight? lanyards are so goddamn useful.
@elpepe The Geneva convention called for a ban of the inclusion of lanyards on flashlights. It is perfectly ok to add it yourself.
@elpepe or a carabiner
I'll stick with my free Harbor Freight flashlights.
@GiantTarget One thing about the HF flashlights is that while Free is nice, they require 3 AAA batteries. At least it's baby arm compatible. Price seems a bit Meh for a flashlight.
I'd prefer a flashlight that uses AA batteries since I still have a lot of those from the last time I bought a 100-pack of batteries from Meh.
Doubles as a meat tenderizer.
@Fish_Kungfu that's funny.
I only buy flashlights that use 18650 batteries.
@cengland0 I prefer either As or AAAAs. No A^2 or A^3 though
@saodell How about the double D size?
@cengland0 or 18650A's
@cengland0 me too, especially since I have a dozen high end 18650's
I don't do C batteries.
Our house and cars are fully flashlighted. Equilibrium has been reached.
@RedOak No REAL man ever has enough flashlights... you obviously never had flashlight wars as a kid.
@Veloslave real men don't feel a need to compensate with their flashlights. Speak softly but carry a big stick.
@Veloslave and no, flashlights were not a "thing" when we were growing up. Alkaline batteries didn't even exist.
BB guns, slingshots, and hand-folded water bombs were the "thing".
@RedOak bet you am older than you ;
@Veloslave I hope so - I don't want to be any older!
I think I want this, but I haven't convinced myself to click the button yet.. Please someone tell me why I need this!
@kadagan click it so I don't have to.
@kadagan Um, ...it will give you a reason to buy C batteries?
@RedOak I just grabbed one.. I read the review from here (http://toolmonger.com/2012/11/21/hands-on-lifegear-400-lumen-tactical-flashlight/) and ti convinced me to throw one in my emergency bag.
@RedOak ohh! Or maybe I'll keep it in my truck just in case!
@kadagan ... 'Cause it's a flashlight?
C battery is the deal breaker.
C batteries?

@cjrhoades Thanks for pointing me to fasttech, I had never seen the site and it looks great. I've been buying from meritline for a while but fasttech seems like to have great deals on some stuff.
@belowi No problem. As far as Chinese online stores go, fasttech has been the best to me and I've bought from at least 10 others.
too damn big.. I have a 300 lumen light that uses a single AA battery and not much bigger. it was 5 dollars and has lasted 3 years of EDC
@Mdsuave13 I take it you're running a 14500 battery in that? I don't know how else you could get 300 lumens from a single AA size.
@cjrhoades i use that size on occasion, but it works great with AA batteries, which i can get anywhere.. Great EDC flashlight.
If this could focus its beam I'd be seriously tempted.
Not bad, 2 at Costco are $119.99
Tempting, but not with C, and not with two types of batteries required for full functionality.
@Charcoalwolfman troof
I'll pass on this. After all, yesterday's solar battery pack also has some LED lights on it.
Hey, you guys took my suggestion! Neat! (If it's been a thing for a bit, I wasn't paying attention until today...)
@Thumperchick I think I first noticed it in the MetaWatch product thread.
@Thumperchick Great idea! :)
Meh. Not weapon-grade enough like a Maglite. Not small enough to be a carry-anywhere flashlight. And not cheap enough. Dammit, @carl669!
@narfcake i know! i need to know my flashlight will allow to effectively bash in zombie heads. without that, what use is this flashlight?!?
$8 at tmart for 1200 lumens...
I just got a 6 (D) cell Maglite for about the same price on Amazon. Weighs a ton & makes an excellent bludgeon.
@mamawoot A 6D Maglite does indeed make an excellent bludgeon but it's also only 136 lumens.
$24 for a fucking flashlight? No.
@Al_Coholic No, this is just a flashlight. Not a fleshlight.
@Thumperchick paging @geriatricdragon
@Thumperchick Not that kind of fucking, but that just means it's even less worth that sort of price.
C Batteries?? Really??? Where are the 40 packs of C batteries?
@bady 40 doesn't divide evenly by 3. And let's face it, ...what the hell else are you ever going to use C batteries for?
Did these fall out of the 4-pack set that you sold back in August? They're nice lights.
@G1 This is the one: https://meh.com/deals/life-gear-cc20-6001-tactical-led-flashlights

Gonna annoy the neighbors and lightsabre fight moths at night when this arrives!!!
I need a flashlight to find my interest in this deal.
"What that means is that an 800-lumen flashlight will not seem more like 1.41 times or 1.25 times as bright as a 400-lumen light, depending on how you look at it." I think you meant to take out the "not" in that sentence.
Here comes the complaining.
I'm quitting California and selling out to Meh for the second time in a row!

@rschauer Strobe function is great for messing with the cops' eyes when they are chasing you.
@Al_Coholic Clearly I'm missing out if getting chased by cops isn't a common occurrence in my life.
@rschauer http://www.tmart.com/E6-XML-CREE-T6-1200LM-10W-5-Modes-Focus-Flashlight-Torch-Black_p164561.html?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=news&utm_content=bleevip&utm_campaign=0425ybl

@unkabob I'd go for the 1050 pieces of bacon cheese whopper.
@SIMBM ... Awesome, isn't it..
@unkabob 😳
@unkabob try this instead... http://www.tmart.com/E6-XML-CREE-T6-1200LM-10W-5-Modes-Focus-Flashlight-Torch-Black_p164561.html?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=news&utm_content=bleevip&utm_campaign=0425ybl

This post is here. Because 12 hours seems to be too much time since the last post. On the same day as the deal is offered.
@RedOak ...
@RedOak here's a turtle for your post
@RedOak I am surprised that Meh had so few of these to sell in the first place. I think that's why this thread has been so quiet today.
@lljk It does seem like a low inventory, but at that price Meh was likely cautious since for a lot of folks it would no longer be an impulse buy.
@RedOak The low inventory might be due to them taking a specific flashlight out of this kit that that they sold earlier: https://meh.com/deals/life-gear-cc20-6001-tactical-led-flashlights
I received this today and I'm very impressed! It easily illuminates anything on my property from the furthest away point I can stand.. (I have about 3/4 acres). It's far more powerful than the cheap AAA flashlight I've been using when walking my dog. I'm happy.
