Let's Play Golf Blitz: like real golf but fun

I recently discovered Golf Blitz and it has been my new obsession. It’s a really simple mobile game where you and three other golfers compete in a free-for-all to get to the hole first, etiquette be damned.
Here’s a trailer:
I created a team so we can have “friendly” matches and set up a tournament (with prizes?) if there is enough interest. Search for Irk’s Caddies on the Team page and then say you came from Meh in the chat so I know not to boot you.

Had a few fun rounds last night! I, the most experienced player, lost all of them.

@medz I think those are to match you with other players who are about as good as you? I dunno, I feel sad because every time I earn enough trophies to play a different course, I get wrecked and sent back to the previous ones. Or maybe that isn’t how the mechanic works at all and I’m just unlucky, who knows.
This game is fun. We had some friendly matches last night and I’ve played some strangers to get more trophies. I’m down for a tournament!
Also I know @shawn has kept it classy and stayed out of this but shots fired, man.

@RiotDemon I did. Tried it with, without, caps, no caps, etc. Fortunately the team wasn’t that far down in the listings.
@cinoclav @RiotDemon I don’t think wearing a cap has much bearing on finding them…unless it’s like that one Sherlock Holmes wears.

So out of ten outfits I’m able to unlock, 8 are rare.
Do they not understand what rare means?
@RiotDemon on top of that, my naked fig leaf Adam outfit is not listed as rare but I’ve only played like one or two other Adams. I can’t tell if they’re actually rare or not.
@Moose probably because there’s a million different funny outfits so who wants to be a naked man with a leaf?

I have come to believe that this game has a “fuck you” mode that exists to put me on tilt. It seems if I come into a match and I have the most trophies, chances are I’m getting screwed. Bad bounces, midair collisions, and the inability to make shots I’ve made dozens of times before are coming my way.
But once I’ve been put in my place and about half my trophies are gone, suddenly I’m good again and start smoking the competition. It’s an emotional roller coaster.
Also, it’s only been a couple of days and the math on their upgrades is starting to work out towards the “give us money” phase of a freemium gaming model. The good news is once that happens, maybe my addiction will ease up as I’m not buying gems or bux or whatever it is they want to sell to speed up game progression.
@djslack yeah. Went from 5 dollars to upgrade to 30 real quick. That’s a bummer. Game is still fun though.

I’m down to 5 bux and 19 gems. I think the only way to get more is to buy them (nope), or open the free packs every two hours (if notifications are on, they get sent every two hours).

@eonfifty @RiotDemon I need to accentuate the positive and eliminate the negative, latch on to the affirmative and don’t mess with Mr. In-between. Instead of celebrating my success, I just find myself cursing at it when someone jacks up my shot. I can’t tell you how many times I have wished for a middle finger icon on the intermission lol. Next time I play I’ll try to stay positive and see what happens.

So I just figured out something shitty.
If you have enough cards to unlock an outfit, but decide to wait… If you level up, it takes more cards to unlock the outfit,so now it’s no longer available to unlock. I just went from having 8 outfits available to 2. Lame.
@RiotDemon and unlocking the outfits will level you up, so it’s a catch-22.

I finished between the one that plays golf and the one that roots for Nascar.
Just gonna leave this here… I’ve had good rounds before but never completely shut out the field. Of course they helped, but wow.

@jaybird just sending @moose another email. I’m here because I heard there would be
nachostournaments.So since the chat over there sucks I couldn’t figure out if you guys tried the 1v1 tie game or not. I’m thinking you guys did and it didn’t work, is that right?
@Ignorant yes. I won 2 trophies and pyro lost 2 trophies. I think because of the differential between us, like 100 trophies apart at the time. No trophies were fabricated out of thin air.
@Ignorant but the next game were got a 4 way game and tied for first so we both made trophies then. But that was off the backs of the other suckers.
It will make trophies out of thin air when people with zero trophies play. And it may make one or two if two people with the exact same number tie in a 1v1. But it seems like it mostly taketh from one to giveth to the other.

@moose could you log on and make some of us that still play regularly captains or co captains or something? I think there are things we can’t do as a team with no captain, am I right?

We can now promote since Moose made a few of us co-captains. We’ve been talking about using the ranks. Here’s the current thought:
800 trophies = amateur
1600 trophies = pro
If you go below for over a week you go back down.
Thoughts? Posting here so it doesn’t get lost in the chat there.
@djslack I said it there and I’ll say it here too, I think it’s a good/fun idea to use the ranks and the 800/1600 numbers seem good to me.

Heads up in case you weren’t aware that this game has “seasons” that end every other Thursday morning. Current season will end this coming Thursday morning, and at that time all trophies will be reset down to the nearest 200 (200, 400, 600, etc)

@medz I found an app called MNML that’s an open source ad free screen recorder that seemed to do the trick. Then I used the replay and recorded it from there.
So I’ve pulled off this shot two times in a row off the tee.

Hi everyone I figured we should have the “rules” of our team friendly matches posted here.
So for those that don’t know we like to play friendly matches in our team room and we made up some different game types to keep it interesting. We will usually mention in the chat before the match what game we are going to play, and we will always use code emotes in the lobby before the game to announce the game type.
Game types:
Don’t be intimidated by our trash talking it’s all in fun and anyone is welcome to play.
