@RedOak Actually no. I don’t really actually know that many audio companies. Only really started to look into them about a year and a half back when I was shopping for some good BT over-ear headphones, so I’ve heard of companies that make those. But my experiences with other audio equipment is pretty lacking.

Also, I’m in my early 20s so that may be part of the reason?

@Mehsturbator That may indeed be part of it. Google Klipschorns, Belle Klipsch, Klipsch Heresy… legendary speakers. Of course, Audiovox bought them out and they aren’t the independent American loudspeaker juggernaut they once were; I haven’t really bothered investigating the quality of their recent offerings. But there is (or at least was) something special behind the Klipsch name.

@thismyusername I’m actually immensely satisfied with the ones I got and the audio quality between wired and wireless is pretty much identical. So I’d say there are good Bluetooth headphones.

of course… if you can’t tell the difference between wired and bluetooth you are likely using aptx/similar or very low quality source material.

@thismyusername V-MODA using a Nexus 6P usually. So, yeah, I’m pretty sure it’s not the highest possible quality, but I don’t claim to be an audiophile by any means.

@brhfl I auditioned some Klipsch mid/high end speakers a few years ago, maybe 4.

I wanted them: based on the Name, the Reputation, the horns!, the history, the copper color, all of it.

I couldn’t do it. I couldn’t even pretend to try them at home. I’m sure that they were awesome to most people, but I heard the high-freqs buzzing. It’s not the speakers so much. The Klipsch were just tuned to the resonance of my tinnitus. It was an immediate reaction. The sales dude wasted zero time and just took them away.

@brhfl I’ve got some friends who are close with Klipsch, and apparently Audiovox didn’t really meddle much with the innerworkings of the company and product design. Gave them creative freedom, and just took over HR.

@wishod that thing is a beast… 240W peak… can wireless pair to another of its ilk for dual speakers, but indeed that is using apt-x (or b&os variant) to clean up the bluetooth audio compression… and pretty dang expensive!

@Mehsturbator My Klipsch earbuds are the most accurate I’ve ever owned. If you don’t want overdone bass, this is the brand for you. Damn near a flat response curve.

@jonjen2 to be fair, lots of Bluetooth speaker reviewers complain about that, and it’s not always true. But buying a Bluetooth speaker for sound quality is like buying the best DVD player- it’s only going to be so good. (I want stereo sound, damn it.)

@wishlish I don’t think stereo out of a 3x5 inch speaker really works with a human sized head.

@sammydog01 At this size, I’d way rather have a solid mono implementation than some crazy psychoacoustic attempt at stereo, that’s for sure.

@jonjen2 The vast majority of the time, people have problems with bluetooth speakers when it’s really their own phone’s fault. They just don’t bother troubleshooting.

Most people don’t even bother doing the minimal ‘remove/readd speaker from their phone’s bluetooth settings’ before claiming the speaker is dead.

@mellowirishgent For reference, 808 is kinda a crap brand. Klipsch makes loads of high-end stuff, and always goes for audio quality over anything else, in my experience.

@meh I wound up with one of these guys after my Meh Clarity HD speaker was crap. Splashproof, sounds pretty good, and $25 or $30 sometimes on eBay or Amazon. They also made a waterproof one.

@meh $70 new on eBay is the best I found. Sorry you missed the Banana Boat speakers- $10 and they float. I use one in the bathtub.

@meh I picked that one because of the 5 watt speaker. I mean no super bass but its not tinny. And loud enough for all the shower noise. Been using mine for almost 2 years every day.
