Got J&J last Sunday. Right arm was kind of sore the next day, but I got the injection in my left. Go figure.

be prepared to have a pretty good reaction to your shots. If you had the A-Z and then get the moderna I would expect that your immune system will ramp up decently and you can expect to have some fever/chills and body aches for a few hours or so. That’s why most folks have a stronger reaction to the follow up dose than the original. Or both if they have had SARs-CoV 19 infection

@chienfou @djslack @TheMeerkat - That could explain why I read that fewer symptoms are reported with J&J.

not necessarily, but if she can get checked for antibodies, that would be a good confirmation that she is covered well. (if she gives blood I think most all the blood banks will check for antibodies and report them back to her, as well as getting free cookies and a t-shirt or something…)

@chienfou @djslack @kdemo @Kyeh @TheMeerkat If your mom is old enough for medicare they are unwilling to commit in advance if they will pay for that and apparently it is expensive. She’d need the spike protein antibody test. The Igg one tests to see if you have had it. With the vaccination you’d only have pos spike protein antibodies since that is what the vaccines target.

@chienfou @djslack @kdemo @Kyeh @TheMeerkat PS I had zero reaction to either shot except very, very mild point tender spot where the needle pierced my skin. Apparently it is pretty common not to have a reaction.

@Kidsandliz So were you ever able to get that antibody test?

@Kyeh No. In fact my insurance said I’d have to get the test first and then see if they’d pay for it. If they didn’t I could appeal but I still might not win. I couldn’t apply to get pre-approval. Seriously? I have to find some time to find out who to report that to. Maybe the state insurance commission.

I did find a different way, although it could take several months for the first blood draw which wouldn’t be useful to me that far out since other studies document that antibody levels drop over time. There is a study of patients with blood cancers going on that I just joined where they are looking at this. Since I have already had both shots I won’t be part of the group that gets tracked as proactively though. On the plus side they are willing to tell us the results as they get them back for us. I still want one done now, not in several months.

@Kyeh SOLVED!! As I said I found the study my oncologist was talking about. When I joined what popped up was info telling me to get the blood draw ASA and am getting my blood drawn Monday. Yea!

@Jasongb Well… I think they’re both man-made. One just comes in a tube and the other from someone’s mouth. Either way, I’ve had both versions. Do not recommend.

Yes, I do want one! We shall see IF I can get my act together in time as i’m not getting around very well these days. I almost didn’t make it out of the pharmacy when getting my Covid vaccine. The 20 yard walk felt like a mile with my legs so swollen they look like they belong on a elephant! Fingers crossed, i’ve even designed a original!

YES, definitely meh related! My artistic juices have been flowing, I must say that i’m mighty impressed with my design.
BUT JEEZE, could you have given more notice?

@sammydog01 you know, that’s a really good question. my husband would vote for the flask but I love the idea of just having a giant “meh” tattooed on an otherwise unrelated sleeve. maybe I’ll do both.

@Lynnerizer If you end up designing your own and not just using the official Meh logo/flask/irk, you might want to post it to the forum first to make sure it’s still Meh enough to qualify.

So did the Irk for Ink cuisinart thread vanish? I’m going to try to get some ink this weekend. Just the meh. (it really fits my personality). I just haven’t decided where.
If we get one now do we just add it to this thread, or whisper to someone or what? I’m sure my husband will think I’m nuts when I inform him I have to get a tattoo tomorrow, and then explain what and why.

So I’ve spent all weekend trying to get an appointment for a tattoo. Most places aren’t even answering their phones or returning phone calls. I can get an appointment on Thursday afternoon. Of course that is April 1st and is usually a mehrathon. Is it possible I can squeeze in? Pretty please??

I get a sinus infection every time I miss sleep, or have allergies, or every time the sun rises maybe.
I just deal with them as best I can.

Maybe it’s time for another sinus surgery (not really a big deal), but I don’t like my current MD much, and I don’t wanna be bothered thinking about “whether or not” at the moment.
