but gold feels inert, it doesn’t resonate with me (and with a lot of people that I know.)
I wear mostly silver, high quality sterling that yes, I have to clean and remove tarnish. Silver feels right to me.
I will wear white gold, it doesn’t have the ‘right feeling’ of silver, but it doesn’t feel like an inert slab of metal like gold does.
@shahnm I have a slim, analog Seiko with my university crest as the face that I received as a gift from my parents for college graduation. Have worn it every time I wear a long-sleeved cuffed shirt (office, church, other ‘dressy’ occasions) since 1985.
not all jewelry costs and arm and a leg. while i have statement pieces that could double as art, mostly they are like a cat shirt, or a beer shirt, or a coffee shirt, a statement of me.
I have a bracelet, just one, that I wear most times. It was made by a local jewelry maker with a clever process that utilizes the differing melting points of copper and silver. It changes somewhat as you wear it and different sections of it get polished or rubbed by your clothing and skin. It has a lot of character.
I wear mostly gold. I wear silver sometimes, as well, but not nearly as often. I love my jewelry, and it makes me happy. It’s an innocent obsession, lacking calories or other things dangerous to the health, and having a certain intrinsic beauty.
I could go on for about a hundred paragraphs, but I won’t. Here’s an image of my favorite; it was created using the lost wax method, before even I was born.
every day, but it’s all stainless steel, low profile, and permanent-ish. not really the type of stuff the poll was getting at, i don’t think.
(five point industrial, four point industrial, nape barbell, and seamless lip ring. i also wear stainless spirals in my lobes almost 24/7 - minus the few minutes i take them out in the shower to wash them.)
i do own a handful of fun custom acrylic-on-chain necklaces and might wear one once a month or every other. no rings, bracelets, anklets, etc.
I have a spoon ring from my grandmother that I have worn nearly every day since 6th grade. I have another ring on my right hand that I only picked up at Kohls because I wanted to checkout in a faster line.
I realized after reading the questions, that apparently I do have “lots of it” and I wear it every day. I would not have thought of it that way until now. I recently resurrected several earring holes that I’d let return to nature for over 10 years or more. I found them mostly intact. I was wearing two earrings in each ear, now it’s 4 in the right ear and two in the left. Plus my 40th birthday ring on my right hand and my FitBit (which is lovely jewelry the way I have it) which only comes off when I shower.
Always something (at home, usually just wedding set). And depends on my mood and the venue. Sometimes a few simple gold pieces. If I’m my old hippie self then it’s multiple necklaces, rings, bracelets and a pair of bigger earrings.
