I am so sorry. You didn’t need that. Did you know Zoomer was that sick? I hope you can find some comfort somewhere as I am sure you are now missing the love from him at a time when you need it the most.
@Kidsandliz I almost lost him three years ago. He lived two years longer than the vet thought he would. I put him to sleep today because he has been sick a few days and there’s basically nothing else the vet can do for him.
@RiotDemon That is so sad but I am glad it wasn’t sudden so you had time to say goodby to him. This part of their lives is so hard. We love them and then we outlive them (well hopefully we do, it is worse for them if it is the other way around). You have had such a hard time recently.
I have an 18 year old headed that direction. I was worried she’d die (she is a part main coon, so was a 12 or so pound cat in her prime, and around 6 pounds at this point) while I was out of town at a medical apt. I have two more coming up and have my fingers crossed.
Please hug yourself. Please accept hugs from those you love and trust.
Someday your life will be ok again. It will prob be a while before that, tho. Maybe years before you are really fully back on your feet emotionally and spiritually. Or maybe faster. Everyone living thru terrible grief goes thru many uniquely individual ways of mourning and getting by.
And … FWIW … I’m so glad that your Mom and your Dad and these two kitties, and your brother got to share your life and each other’s lives to some degree.
All that above and one big hug to you. This is now the 6th pet I know of that has crossed the rainbow bridge in the last two weeks. (And 3 humans too.) As always, your meh family is here for you.
Sorry for your loss- having lost a dog in recent months, it really sucks.
Your cat looked beautiful and reminds of an older cat we lost years ago.
If you need us, we’re here for you.
This was the mostly oddly quiet morning I’ve had in forever. I’ve had cats for 25+ years. Not having a shadow around my feet this morning was really weird.
My dog was pretty somber last night and this morning. I think she knew when I came back with the empty carrier, crying.
It’s just another heart break on top of everything. I’m holding together, just so bummed. No little furry buddy keeping me company on the couch.
@RiotDemon My cat was the last of our pets we said goodbye to. But before that, when we had to put our dog to sleep we took the cat with us. He knew he was gone and there was never any adjustment period where he wandered the house wondering where his brother went. For those in a similar situation, I highly recommend doing the same if possible. Animals are so much deeper than we tend to give them credit for.
@RiotDemon I’m not looking forward to Mr. Whisker’s last day. He’s really getting up there in age but so far, fingers crossed, he doesn’t seem to be in pain. He can’t jump like he used to, I’ve put out steps and chairs for him to get up and down things.
@RiotDemon So sorry to hear about another loss for you, you’ve been through an awful lot lately. Big long-distance hugs to you. I’m glad you still have your dog, and I hope she’s there to share your life with for a long, long time.
Aww, so sorry for the loss of another loved one, RD.

I’m very sorry to hear this. Surely they are together, stalking birds and pawing at the great sofa in the sky. My sympathies are with you.
I will send good thoughts and virtual hugs your way. Those decisions are so hard.
So much serious loss. So quickly.
I can’t even imagine.

I hope you and your brother can be really solid.
Oh @riotdeamon I am so very sorry. It is so sad when we lose our fur babies. I have dealt with this and understand the pain you are feeling.
Take comfort in the fact that Zoomer did not suffer and that you were with him in his final moments. I am sure he knew how much you love him.
Big hugs sweetie. It will get better.
