I wrote a review a few weeks ago (which is something I don’t normally do), after I’d bought a shower hose that fell apart after a few months of use, and leaked before that. The manufacturer read my one-star review and gave me a refund, no questions asked.
I try to stick with positive reviews, but sometimes the negative is important, too. And that hose was crap.
@peaceetc I actually contact the seller before writing a bad review and give them the chance to make it right… if they do, I don’t write a bad review, if not (which has never happened) I would write a review describing fail town. I have been given full refunds and gotten to keep the product because of this.
@Veloslave I normally go that route, too. But this item was really bad, and I wanted to warn other potential customers as to what they might be buying. I framed it that perhaps I’d received a bad hose, and that maybe they weren’t all like that. But I’d seen other reviews saying similar things, so I was pretty sure it wasn’t just mine. I think it was justified in this instance.
@Veloslave You should always write the bad review so other people don’t buy it too. But you can always say that they gave you a refund, they were good sellers, etc.
@gdibig Yep, after they issued me my refund, I amended my my review to say I appreciated their response, and actually bumped up the rating to three stars based on it. I still feel the product is bad, and left my original review in tact, but at least the manufacturer made an effort, which is more than a lot of them do.
@Veloslave That’s like the idiots who leave online recipe reviews, but have added or deleted so many ingredients along with not following directions, and then act completely disappointed or surprised when the recipe turns out to be a disaster.

The only negative I have is that he currently has disabled the feature for you to check his profile. It really makes you wonder. What is he hiding?
Overall, despite his non-transparency, everything seems to check out, and I will continue to read his posts. 4.5/5
@ELUNO
You review was inadequate due to lack of visual aids. You obviously have a hidden political agenda which corrupts your ability to review @Pavlov from an honest and honorable perspective.
Has @Pavlov compensated you in some way, to influence your review?
A correct and truthful review of @Pavlov would include:
59 written, zillions read and I like to study who is writing them very often to make sure they are on the level. Love using them, especially when there are obviously honest and well written ones that are very descriptive. Makes online purchases more reliable and less stressful or chancy to make.
Write those descriptive non biased reviews people… it helps everyone.
I’ve written a lot of reviews, but not nearly as many as I should. To review something, I either have to really love it, really hate it, or have gotten it on the cheap for the sole purpose of reviewing it.
@PurplePawprints Hear ya there… I was like that at first but Amazon makes it so easy to catch up with reviews that I find if I do them later I am more experienced and less emotional
@Veloslave I do go back every now and then and go through my list to review things I’ve had a while. I also try to write relatively well thought out reviews whether I love it or hate it. They aren’t ever going to end up as the top reviews, but I do try to be helpful, at least. And, I’m honest even when I’m reviewing for a discount/free product.
I write alot of reviews, nearly everything I’ve bought there, which is alot.
I get a a lot of free products for reviews as well. My amazon reviewer ranking is 21,223. Which is pretty high considering the millions of customers/ reviewers.
Bass reviews are as important as good ones. Gives the company a chance to make it right, and it warns future potential customers of issues.
You can usually figure out the useless reviews, and ignore those. Good and bad.
A lot of product reviewers on Amazon fail to grasp the concept. “Arrived late. One Star” The intent is to review the product, not the service of Amazon (nor its merchant partner) With a product with only a few reviews, it only takes one or two to sway the over-all rating.
That being said, I do absolutely zero on my part to help the system. Never rated anything.
I used to do Amazon reviews all the time. It was nice to get some occasional “your review helped a customer” petting. But Amazon has evolved to where much of the reviews are fake and when I write a review I get attacked. Maybe Prime members get treated better, I’ll never know.
(Products for which there are zero compensated reviews excepted):
The Amazon review system, once such as exquisite and useful resource, has, sadly, fallen straight off the Heights of Excellence Into the Bottomless Depths of Shitpool.
@jmendenhall
Not if one doesn’t get compensated for writing reviews.
If someone does get compensated - even if that person tries to leave what s/he believes are “honest reviews” - I will try to remember various teachings on the wisdom of forgiveness.

I don’t review their customers; I occasionally review their products.
@Pavlov Sometimes I review a customer’s review.
@Pavlov “They sent me the wrong color… this product sucks!” You just gotta love those well thought out and descriptive reviews.
Did this review help HELL NO

@f00l good non-use of quotes for Giphy
I review amazon merchants more often than products.
Do we include the ones we were “paid” to write?

@jmendenhall yes and apparently not many meh visitors are paid amazon reviewers.
