Hi, I'm an INFP
5So @lisaviolet said something that made me start to wonder. I know, that never happens, right? Anyways, I'm just curious how many INFPs there are out there. I'm not a big fan of rigid categories. In fact, the image I wanted to post but it was too much hassle is the guy from Network saying, "Box?!! I'll tell you what you can do with your fucking BOX!!" But I find that this one fits me better than others. For the record, I'm off the charts NFP with a little more ambiguity in the I-E, but still solidly introverted.
I bet there's a disproportionate number of INFPs here. Because we're awesome and, shhh, meh is awesome. Also, we tend to prefer interacting with people verbally like this.
We'll probably put up with other types chiming in (though you could start your own damned thread or even a more general one; just a suggestion) because we're flexible like that. And, ultimately, it's a risk I'm willing to take because, introvert that I am, I need to express myself.

I can never remember what I am. What does that make me?
@PurplePawprints Amusing, at the very least.
@joelmw I'll settle for that.
INTJ for life!
@JerseyFrank My kid is an INTJ (she's starting to lean a little F from the T though). You know that you are the evil genius, right? It fits her, though she has a strong sense of morality and realizes that with great power comes great responsibility--at least she has me convinced that she realizes that. Interestingly, her mom was an ESTJ (yes, my exact opposite).
@JerseyFrank
@JerseyFrank Me too(although J was almost at the mid point so almost INTS (at least I think that is an S opposite a J) - we are what, less than 5% of the population and it is rare for a woman to be that… wonder what that makes me then LOL
@JerseyFrank I'm an off-the-chart INTJ. I had the test administered by a psychiatrist, but he knew what I was going to answer ahead of time. By ex business partner used to call me Mr Spock
Oh wait based on what people are posting here that must be a P opposite a J. Been a long time since I looked at this matrix...
@Headly INTJ and PROUD!
Another INTJ here. If you don't know your "type" - here's a (relatively) quick version of the test: http://www.16personalities.com/free-personality-test
@rockblossom According to this, I am INFP. I can't remember what I tested as before so I'm just going to go with it.
@rockblossom Apparently I am http://www.16personalities.com/infj-personality
@rockblossom I am ISTP...according to how I answer questions. I think I may have swayed the results....
@rockblossom I'm INTJ too.
I took that quick test. I'm apparently an INFP, as well.
PS to @joelmw : You will note that the INTJs have ignored your suggestion to begin another thread and have posted here instead. We much prefer to ignore your feelings and just take over your thread. We're like that.
@lisaviolet
@lisaviolet
@lisaviolet
@lisaviolet Nope. Everyone will know it's your fault. Because everything is your fault.
@rockblossom Yours is my favorite comment. Do note that my feelings will persist, regardless of your ignoring them. But I wholeheartedly affirm you in your personality. I'm not ashamed to say that we need crazies like you and I thank the gods that I don't have to be one. Just try not to kill anything.
INFP here, too.
Just took it- I'm also an INFP. I'm the type of person that can come across fairly well in writing (almost normal!), but in person, some might think I'm a little...slow. I have huge social anxiety, and sometimes I get so nervous I forget simple things (like yesterday- how to properly fill out a deposit slip). Anytime I have to interact socially, I feel like an imbecile afterward. I can't tell you how many times my husband has (lovingly) called me "weirdo" after seeing me in action.
I'm an ENFP, "The Diplomat" which I suppose is fitting for running an online Community and being a forum mod.
@JonT Me too! PERSONALITY: ENFP VARIANT: ASSERTIVE ROLE: DIPLOMAT
@JonT That does make perfect sense. NFPs are the best. But of course we're very humble about it.
http://www.truity.com/personality-type/infp
I am lost! DAMN you @lisaviolet
My name is barnabee and I'm an INFP.
INTP, sagittarius, snake.
I took the test and I think it told me I'm an asshole.
@Teripie So you're an INTJ too. ;-) @rockblossom @JerseyFrank
@lisaviolet Don't encourage them; they already have a god complex.
@joelmw An ESFP......whatever that is. I've been called "Camp Counselor" in my younger days. I'm the one who tried to organize a kazoo band at work. That kind of stuff.
@Teripie
I'm INFP (complete with Hippie Pic) and Accounting to the test though I'm a Turbulent Variant Sounds right to me. but what's with all the INFP on here?
Am I the only ISFJ here?
@bluedog I'm also ISFJ, with my "I" being 100%.
PERSONALITY: ESFP
VARIANT: ASSERTIVE
ROLE: EXPLORER
I claim this thread for ESFPs. Yeah, that just happened.
PERSONALITY: ISTP
VARIANT: TURBULENT
ROLE: EXPLORER
9% Introverted
31% Observant
13% Thinking
15% Prospecting
29% Turbulent
You are one of the Explorers - a bold and freedom-loving individual who enjoys pushing the limits and exploring the unknown. You are known for your quiet nature, technical skills and ability to improvise.
Overview:
http://www.16personalities.com/istp-personality
@Keyeno I got the same. I agree on some points but disagree on others. I used to test differently, but the older I getmore things change.
I'm so INTJ that I'm throwing myself a birthday party tomorrow, invited 200+ people*, and only 10 of them are coming, all of whom are related to me and feel some sense of personal obligation.... And do you know how much my feelings are hurt? None. All those who chose not to come will simply miss out on an awesome pinball party on the boardwalk.
*including @snapster, but he's 1800 miles or so away.
It's been a few years since I last did the test, but I was INFP then and am pretty sure I still am although the percentages may have shifted some.
I'm sure I used to be an ENFP, but the test now says INFP.
Variant: Turbulent (like class 5 rapids), Role: Diplomat.
INTJ here, exceedingly rare in my profession. We are the rational mastermind.
Rational I say, rational!!
@Cerridwyn What profession is that? I'm in IT. I expect that most of us are INTJs... well, at least the ones worth listening to.
@JerseyFrank I'm a nurse. That's my main thing at least. I do informatics and do hardware support when our guy is out, so maybe I have a bit of IT genes
@JerseyFrank intj's abound in IT including me.
INTP.
But only 1% Thinking... sounds about right haha.
I kinda doubt my Assertive Analyst result, but am waiting until I see more connections in the larger picture on that.
http://www.16personalities.com/intp-personality
@walarney, I'm snake too. Cancer.
Someday we will stun the forum with our wondrous insight. But no deadlines man.
@mehjohnson See Cat gif above…posted by INTP @lisaviolet
@Kidsandliz Up above that one @lisaviolet said she's IN F P. Either way, it's her fault.
@mehjohnson INTP Turbulent Analyst Aries Ram here
@mehjohnson Maybe a cat walked across the computer while she typed… or two different cats of hers took the test… LOL
Very INTJ as well. @joelmw, you might need to rethink your supposition on "a disproportionate number" as we INTJ's comprise only 1.5% and females only 0.5% of the population, but quite a few have already chimed in here.
@PyxienTX INTJ rules!! (well most of the time it comes out like that for me, the other times it comes out INTP)
@PyxienTX I wonder if maybe Irk is an INTJ. It would explain a lot--like the way that he's so wrong and yet so confident about it. ;-)
@PyxienTX I am quite willing to rethink my supposition. I'm now contemplating what it is about meh that attracts all of you maniacal evil geniuses.
@joelmw Boredom and entertainment. :) Also, while y'all are busy laboring away at work, We are already preparing or half through with tomorrow's agenda. Well, actually I am on stuff for this Wednesday, but you get what I mean...
@PyxienTX I do. But I had to be stirred from my daydreaming first. :-)
I took the quiz; is it ISFP of me to say I don't think this is a real thing? If it helps shade the results, I'm also a year-of-the-tiger scorpio.
@matthew Personally I don't think the entire world fits into so few personality types… Not to mention it isn't scientifically valid… although that hasn't stopped its popularity.
@matthew There's certainly danger in taking these things too far. But--despite my reservations about these things generally--I find this MBTI and Keirsey to be quite helpful. And occasional a hear something about INFPs that doesn't apply, but the depictions are often uncanny.
I've taken these at different points in my life and had them shift here and there, but this is the first time I've gotten this one: ENFP
- MIND - Extraverted 15%
- ENERGY - Intuitive 32%
- NATURE - Feeling 30%
- TACTICS - Prospecting 11%
- IDENTITY - Turbulent 21%
PERSONALITY: ENFP
VARIANT: TURBULENT
ROLE: DIPLOMAT
You are one of the Diplomats - an empathic and idealistic individual who enjoys exploring interesting ideas and prizes morality. You are known for your enthusiasm, optimism and intuitive skills.
(Looks like I'm in good company with @JonT and @curtise.)
@Thumperchick I think it says something that our moderator, @JonT and at least two of our most recent (and empathetic, engaged, community-building) goats (you and @lisaviolet) are NFPs. :-) And, yaknow, with all of the INTJs around here, y'all have your hands full.
@joelmw See, I think we just found that a common trait for this type is the urge to find and post gifs on forums.
@Thumperchick We're expressive is the thing.
I just got INFP for the first time. Used to be INTJ, but very close to the line on the T and J.
@katylava Hey we are twins then...
@katylava Congrats on making the move. ;-)
I hadn't tested in a while and was intrigued by the site y'all kept posting from.
Introverted: 45%
Intuitive: 61%
Feeling: 71%
Prospecting: 60%
Turbulent: 29%
Role: Diplomat
I like the sliding scale (and the fact that I could leave some items neutral). Maybe I am more introverted and a little more moderate on the others (though I suppose 60+% is still pretty high).
@joelmw
I've never heard of this stuff before, but I gave it a shot.. Seems to fit me..
INTJ
I don't have much belief in this sort of thing though.
@stupidrobot that's just what an INTJ would say!
Wow, a lot of introverts here.
When I was in my early 20s, I tested as ENFP (my SO is in the psych field, so I took the Myers-Briggs often for projects/classes). Apparently, as I aged, I became more asshole-ish. I've been testing as an ENTP for a few years now, and just look at this smug bastard they use for the personality type.
@hart the resemblance is uncanny. Not in physical appearance, but in smug asshole vibe.
@JonT I used to be young and ENFP, like you. And then life grabbed me by the short-and-curlies and now I'm all bitter and smug and apparently wag my finger a lot.
@hart man I am not looking forward to what is going to happen to me in the next 2 years that'll make me turn into you.
@hart jkjkjk
@JonT
@hart JILL
@hart Don't lie, you knew how that machine worked.
Which Hobbit do you most resemble?
They also have Dr Who, Avengers, Walking Dead, and others. http://www.fanpup.me/blog/category/personality-tests
@KDemo The OCD in me would point out that not all teh characters on that poster are Hobbits. True, they are in the movie "The Hobbit". So, asking "what hobbit are you" is not the correct question. And, this bugs me more than it should.
@KDemo Ooh, I'm the made up for movie filler character!
@KDemo @Thumperchick Ha. I'm a beautiful elven queen. And I'm totally okay with that. I'm both in touch with my anima and confident in my masculinity. ;-p
@SIMBM Oh, yeah. I meant to say 'Hobbit character' like they do on the site.
@Thumperchick - Guaranteed seat at The Oscars.
@joelmw -@joelmw For Firefly, you'd be Shepard Book. Walking Dead - Tyreese. Don't know this character, but he sounds macho manly. Wait, what does that say about me?
@KDemo here's a larger one:
INFJ ... so very infj ... But amused by this thread.
ISFP here. Hi.
ISTP...pretty much dead on
http://www.personalitypage.com/ISTP.html
IMNNJ. Actually, I'm in PA, but in 45 minutes or so I will BNNJ.
@JerseyFrank IMNTX. BRB.
I guess I'm an INFP. Just took the test.
@christinerenee This is weird. My wife's name is Christine Renée and she's an INFP. She swears she's not you.
Say something that I know she would never say--yaknow, to reassure me.
@joelmw I'm pretty sure I'm not married to you but what can I say to prove it... The problem is I don't know your wife so if I say something I don't know if it's something she would say or not.... Let me think about it.
@joelmw I know how to prove it. I bought one of those crazy Korean UV light vacuums a couple weeks ago. (You can see my name in the thread to prove it) https://meh.com/forum/topics/moneual-uv-c-sanitizing-vacuum Search your house and see if you have one. Of course she could have bought one too, but she's probably smarter than me.
@christinerenee Damn, I wanted one of those. Good news on both counts for you though. :-)
@christinerenee tell him he's got a big schwanz. His wife never says that... Or does she?
@JerseyFrank She never uses the word "shawnz" to talk about my magnificent member.
One more INFP here.
Today I was explaining to a friend what it means to be an INFP: we're loyal, but unreliable. He suggested I put that on my résumé.
@joelmw a.k.a. guilt-ridden flake
@joelmw I didn't know being unreliable was part of it, but yeah...
@christinerenee @katylava Well, I don't think we're actually unreliable, just not notoriously disciplined or punctual. I'm definitely a guilt-ridden flake of an INFP. My wife and our son are the more happy-go-lucky sort. We definitely mean well. And we eventually get around to whatever we're supposed to do. We just have a strong tendency to procrastinate--for various reasons. Personally, I think that time is an arbitrary and overrated construct.
I'm one or the other. ;-)
Yeah... ISTJ... went back in the files and found what I've always thought to be the best way to explain the 4 categories when we were taking it at work:
every individual has a primary mode of operation within four categories:
@joelmw as goat, you could probably pull some strings with @jonT and get him to put a survey on tonight's (tomorrow's?) front page all 16 combinations plus the standard "ill-tell-you-in-the-comment-section" answer.... hmmm? Would be way interesting! And free demographic info for @snapster ;-)
@unixrab That sounds like a great idea. But I don't know that I actually have any pull. Basically I'm a volunteer janitor.
@joelmw
@unixrab Like I said, I think it's a great idea, @JonT. I know it could be worked into a product pitch somehow (and I do like that the surveys are at least oddly related to whatever is up for sale that day). I'll even ask Irk. But again, volunteer janitor.
@unixrab @joelmw I think @JasonToon writes the surveys.
@Thumperchick Good to know. Though I'll likely forget. But he's duly notified with your comment (thanks, btw). And here's this, @unixrab: https://meh.com/forum/topics/you-asked-for-it---ask-irk#54aab4dd8fb4d5c806b529cb
well @jasontoon ? Lessgo!
@unixrab One problem... our polls are limited to ten options. But the idea is great. Let me see what I can do. Stay tuned.
@JasonToon you rule. Maybe do all the (E)xtroverted choices the first day (8) with a opt out option (9) ; and a tenth option (I'll vote tomorrow/I voted yesterday) then do the (I)ntroverted choices the next day ?
First day:
2nd day:
@jasontoon
just realized something... with the (somewhat fleeting) anonymity of the Internet... I am actually online-extroverted... estj go figure.
