I have this set from 2022 and love it. The stacking makes it easy to store. Great heat transfer. Learn how to use stainless steel and you won’t have a problem. Unlike non-stick pans these will last forever. Teflon pans have a life, and when they exceed their life they can flake off into your food, or produce dangerous gases. These won’t hurt you at all, unless someone hits you in the head with one.

ding ding ding ding
thanks
I got a set of West Bend Miracle Maid hard anodize too long ago to remember, and still have some of them, but have turned the handles of others to ashes.
Ok, this now begs a question/answer from Zott
How does one ‘Learn how to use stainless steel and you won’t not have a problem (with sticking, and other issues)?’
To keep food from sticking you need to preheat the pan over medium heat. Add some oil or butter after it is hot and then add dry ingredients that are at room temperature.
Learning how to avoid leaving the charred remains of frozen chicken on them is also the way to avoid being hit in the head with them.
@frozenokie@psantora@rjquillin@Zott I like hard anodized for conventional stoves too (electric or gas), but they will not work on induction. I recently got an induction stove on a house I am fixing up and it’s absolutely amazing, but about 1/2 my cookware no longer works (will use elsewhere or give away).
I do want this. All my non stick pots and pans have been ruined by my sister who keeps burn meals and scraping the pans with metal utensils.
I swear, it was a mistake teaching her how to cook. Or letting her watch Muckbang videos. I haven’t decided.
She wasn’t a very good student perhaps. She didn’t listen to that part where you said NO METAL Spatula’s. (BTW My Sister would do the same except she would overheat stuff and burn it on.) RIP. These look really cool and I love the way they stack, but can’t justify the purchase. I wish I had gotten them in an IRK instead of the huge air fryer I have no room for. So. That’s all I got folks.
@dave@ndimitru hold on, you mean there are Scams on the Internetz? Kids, don’t trust the Internetz… just Go down to your local friendly Sears or Montgomery Ward or K-mart. Oh, wait, hmm.
Funny story is my wife used to work at a Montgomery Wards store as HR manager.we were coming back from a trip to Europe and found out on the plane that they had filed for bankruptcy. It was not a surprise. The store she worked at was re-processed into a Home Depot.
@dave@dwightvon a while ago one of you guys (not sure if it was you or the W company) sold the Made in France version. Oh yeah I guess it was Cuisinart not Calphalon. They are excellent and probably my favorite cookware, along with some good cast iron.
@markkorn like the use of Mehnennites there. Didn’t see the name used here before, but might have been. In college chemistry class one of the young ladies was a Mennonite apparently. A group of us used to go out for dinner before “night lab” 7-10PM. But I never talked to her about her religion or that of her parents. I was pretty young then and would probably not have asked, plus she was very attractive which made it even more difficult.
My minor complaint with the space saving lids is, ok, you’ve been cooking something with the lid on and now you need to take it off to stir the pot. With a normal lid you only have the thin rim of the lid to set down on your counter or stovetop, no big deal. With these you end up setting down the whole flat steamy surface of the lid on your not necessarily clean countertop/stovetop, or maybe flip it over and perch it upside down on the interlocking tab and the handle but dripping condensed water all over your stove. I’ve had mine for a year and it’s still sort of annoying.
They do save a lot of space in the cabinets, though, I’ll give 'em that.
They were cheaper, maybe they don’t make them anymore. But you can get basic ones. They make a pretty good seal and they work to cover a bowl in the fridge.
[1]:
@sammydog01 Oh cool! One of the local hardware stores has some of his stuff; I’ll check there. I have a Viancin red cabbage strainer and a watermelon measuring cup.
So if I have the cooking skills of someone who is worse that a student who has taken home-ex for 2 weeks, are these a good set to start with? Or should I go with the side deal for the anodized set???
I am totally serious that my skills are non-existent. I will ashamedly admit I’m less than a week away from being 45 and wanting/needing to start learning how to cook, especially as a single dad to a teenager who needs to save money.
Or should I try and find a decently priced cast iron and find someone to get them seasoned for me (again I have not clue on how the kitchen works and am would be terrible at trying to find legitimate videos on how to do it and to accurately follow them).
Thanks all!
@bigjl98 These may be a little harder to clean, but you can’t mess them up with metal utensils (or a fork sitting inside one in the sink like my frikken kids have done). The sidedeal ones can have that problem (note they say wood/nylon only).
I can’t find good reference for the Select other than the same Perigold site referenced by @daytonohioguy. Didn’t find any on eBay. Did they even exist? Anyway, looks like a good buy and I’m very tempted. I’m still using my Calphalon Classic set purchased 35 years ago.
One of ours already has brown rust-looking spots on the bottom, which is weird for stainless steel. Wifey gave them a call to ask about it (mostly out of curiosity) and was told that if you didn’t buy it from Walmart or an authorized Amazon seller, you can kindly F off.

These make terrible robot vacuums.
Is this the same set as Macy’s special $399.99 price… higher at Walmart? https://www.macys.com/shop/product/calphalon-premier-10-pc.-space-saving-stainless-steel-cookware-set?ID=5010949&pla_country=US&CAGPSPN=pla
@RAYT721 didn’t see a model number on the Macy’s site but handles are for sure different.
@RAYT721 The ones at Macy’s are Calphalon Premier, not Calphalon Select. Looks like Walmart used to sell this set though https://www.walmart.com/ip/Calphalon-Select-10pc-Space-Saving-Stackable-Stainless-Steel-Cookware-Set/392615308

@Zott I’d love to see these in hard anodize
@rjquillin @Zott I got the hard anodized version of these in an irk. They’re really nice and stack beautifully.
@rjquillin @Zott head to sidedeal if you’re looking for the hard anodized version of these
@rjquillin it’s your lucky day: https://meh.com/forum/topics/sidedeal-daily-calphalon-select-9-piece-hard-anodized-space-saving-dishwasher-safe-cookware-set

@AaronLeeJohnson
a wife can do the same, I assure you
@AaronLeeJohnson @rjquillin pretty sure it’s a requirement that they do this to the pans, isn’t it?
@AaronLeeJohnson @rjquillin @seraphimcaduto Maybe you should do the cooking, then.
@AaronLeeJohnson @Kyeh @rjquillin I do 80% of the cooking (among other things), it’s that dang blasted 20% that gets me lol.

@bakans You’re looking at the ‘Premier’ line; these are ‘Select’.
@bakans @rpstrong No, that links to the out of stock Calphalon Select set at Walmart.
Anybody used these with induction?
@marcrhodes
Desc says they are “suitable” with induction, but I also would be curious to hear from anyone who has tried it.

@ndimitru

@ndimitru Scam site - do not buy!
@ndimitru @troy
Looking up the address, here in San Diego, the address listed on that site is that of a commercial printing company.

@visioneer_one Not even close to the same one! Not stainless, not space-saving

@dwightvon The challenge is finding the “Select” set instead of the “Premier” set

Here’s a $200 comp
@daytonohioguy $240
Lots of Mehnennites looking to replace cookware. I’m one of them. The handy tip on non-stuck food with the medium heat and room temp food is key.
@markkorn like the use of Mehnennites there. Didn’t see the name used here before, but might have been. In college chemistry class one of the young ladies was a Mennonite apparently. They do save a lot of space in the cabinets, though, I’ll give 'em that.
@pfriedel I have a set of silicone lids that work great and you don’t have to find the exact one that fits.
@pfriedel @sammydog01 I’d like to know more about those!
@Kyeh I have a few like this:
They were cheaper, maybe they don’t make them anymore. But you can get basic ones. They make a pretty good seal and they work to cover a bowl in the fridge.

@bigjl98 @RevRagnarok I’m still using a set of stainless Revere Wear I bought in the mid 80s. And my hand-me-down cast iron went to goodwill.
I found this 10 piece set on Amazon For sale at $399.99:

The only place I found this at was wayfair for $240.
Wayfair.com
@yippiekiyeh Hey I’ve even heard of that place!
Believe this is a good comp, at Wayfair for $240
Wayfair Calphalon Select
Apparently there is no warranty… so GL with that!

@RevRagnarok Check with meh.com/support about this, Mercatalyst has sold a lot of Calphalon, and I’ve not heard this come up before.
