Have you ever won anything from Amazon Giveaways?
22I’ve been entering everything that isn’t a book and doesn’t require a tweet or follow almost everyday for the past month or so. So far, I’ve won nothing. Should I even bother trying?

If you wana win stuff go to marlboro.com - I only enter the contests sporatically and I’ve won a 2 person kelty tent, 10 or so zippos (I give em away at this point), lots of notebooks, water bottles, a couple multi tools… probably other stuff I don’t remember…
"Site limited to eligible smokers 21 years of age or older."
I’m not a smoker, but I suppose I’m eligible to become one… Think it’s still ok for me to use the site? They won’t tell my health insurance provider that I’m a smoker, will they?
Edit: Nope. Register screen reads "Once we verify you’re over 21 and a smoker, you can access exclusive content, special offers and more."
So, if not a smoker, can’t haz access to the stuff.
@medz I don’t smoke either. They just say that because of advertising laws. They don’t actually care- it’s all marketing anyway.
@PantHeist Ok. I used to get free stuff from blackandmild.com (coasters, bottle opener, playing cards, T-shirt, etc) and that was probably the same kind of deal.
@medz yup- philip morris owns both brands, so it’s an identical deal.
@PantHeist I’m not a tobacco smoker, but have (on occasion in the past) smoked herbal products…
i second the marlboro thing. i’ve won a mountain bike, umpteen zippos, silver belt buckle, a nice set of darts and a whole slew of random small items.
@medz How do they verify you are a smoker?
@moondrake If I had to guess, the same way one verifies they’re not a robot. Click the box.
@Pantheist Funny, I’m signed up with both Marlboro and B&M too, just for the giveaways. I’ve never won anything otherwise from them. I have this fear I’ll win some trip to a Marlboro ranch kind of thing, get there and have to explain that I don’t actually smoke.
@cinoclav Sorry you haven’t won anything I generally get something every month or two when I make sure to play most days.
I’ve had the same fear of the ranch trip. I’ve heard they’re perfectly nice to you even if you don’t smoke, but that pretty much everywhere is a smoking area and they give free cartons to everyone. I think at this point the smell would drive me crazy.
@Pantheist It would definitely drive me crazy. Literally 30 minutes ago I got up to get my patient from the waiting room. Someone in there is obviously a heavy smoker and there’s now a lingering stench. Totally turned my stomach.
@cinoclav
Where I go, smoking seems to be so rare now, that I’m kinda shocked when I smell it.
When I was in Manhattan and smoking everywhere except perhaps hospitals was pretty much legal, they made smoking illegal on elevators.
People would just try to get away with smoking on elevators anyway. Twice I held the door open, despite the buzzers, until the smoker got off.
Made them really mad. What they were trying to do made me really mad too. Tho I was polite about it.
@Pantheist @cinolav I never really thought about the smoking thing if I won a trip. Maybe just take the cigarettes and explain that I just recently quit?
The smell would bother me as well…
@Pantheist Ha! Not exactly what I want to win but what the hell, it’s free…
CONGRATULATIONS
You’ve just won Artisan Playing Cards. Please confirm your address to receive your prize.
@cinoclav Hey, cards are fun. Congrats
I bought from someone a folding full size 12 speed bike marlboro that sold. Nice bike. Not so happy about their name on it though since I don’t smoke.
@daveinwarsh @Seeds I knew you had a garden… on occasion, back in the day…
haven’t won anything from amazon, but i’ve won random things from other contests:
chromebook
2 xboxes (separate contests - the 2nd one just showed up at my door. never knew i won it)
bunch of random gift cards
@carl669 Nice! Keeping your sources a secret, eh?
@medz i just hit the slickdeals contest forum.
https://slickdeals.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=25
@medz also take a look at the Freebies thread. there’s occasionally good stuff in there.
@carl669 You just gave me a new hobby.
@sammydog01 careful. it will seriously suck you in.
@carl669 I won a PS3 from Slickdeals. Happened to be checking my email at work with a patient on the table about 10 feet away. Opened the email, saw I won, exclaimed a bit too loudly, “Oh my God!” and had to double check the patient didn’t think I just discovered something horrible inside them.
Winless.
Although I got something from Marlboro more than a decade ago despite having never smoked or consumed tobacco. I think they sent a hat?
Didn’t know Amazon intended to give me everything I ever wanted. That does sound kinda nice.
I’m a loser.
@Barney
/image “purple loser”
@Barney Not in our eyes!!!
@mikibell Aww…
I won a TV in a Fukubukuro from meh.com once. I consider that pretty damn good.
@somf69 Good day sir!
i don’t enter the giveaways regularly but i did win a book that was delivered fairly quickly.
We came home from our honeymoon to find a heavy, humongous box on our screened-in front porch. It turned out to be a large Weber gas grill. At first we thought it was a wedding gift but ruled that out almost immediately. I tracked down the company shown on the mailing label – a fulfillment house for tons of marketing and advertising companies. The nice lady on the phone pondered a couple of minutes, then asked if we had by any chance participated in a drawing at a grocery store two or three months earlier. AHA! I’d filled out the entry slip at our local Publix while I stood in the cashier line.
That was in the fall of 1999, and we’re still using the grill.
@magic_cave You don’t consider your giant gumball machine a win? (need to find a pic)
@Barney You know, I totally forgot about that one! It was definitely a major win; we even made a little money on it. The new owner painted it little-girl pink for her five-year-old daughter’s bedroom. Apparently it was as much a hit with her as it was with us.
@magic_cave I was too lazy to go through the whole thread to find your gumball machine, but I did find @pooflady’s
I think these were so cool.
Never heard of it until you asked…Well wait, that isn’t quite true. They promoted their giveaways a lot during the holidays, and I got addicted to checking them out every night. I was kind of glad when they were over. But now, thanks to your link, I know that there are hundreds of giveaways per month. OMG!
Kind of interesting to see all the Kindle authors promoting their books that way…
@UncleVinny
The free Kindle book offer can up book’s Amz sales ranking I think, if a number of people grab it while it’s free.
@f00l
"Authoring!", he barked squintingly, taking a drag on the stub of a corroded ciggie. “It’s a tough racket.”
@UncleVinny
Fresh out of college I won a Cheerios contest - 3rd place, nerf table top pool game. Gave it to my sister’s friend for her to give it to her kid for christmas from Santa (they were broke) and she blew it by opening the box in front of her kid when it came because she forgot I was sending it to her. Never won any “good stuff”.
I have won twice from the amazon giveaways. Nothing big - a pair of cheap earrings and a 10" fire tablet case (unfortunately, I have the 8", plus I still have dozens of cases leftover from that amazing meh deal once). Still, it shows that it is possible.
Wait. I’ve been a pretty heavy user (OK, I also have few extra pounds I’ve been attempting to erase) of Amazon forever and I’ve never heard of this giveaway thing?
Perhaps it got lost in the sea of noise that permeates Amazon pages. Because Amazon has nice, clean, minimalist pages like Meh. Said nobody, ever.
@RedOak
They do a fairly good job of laying out and presenting information on a given product.
Tho they piss me off sometimes. Why can’t they put the original pub date and also the pub date of the current edition of every book listing right under the title and author’s name?
And on some old obscure audiobooks, esp those not available for download, but only on cd or cassette, Amazon sometimes doesn’t bother to tell you whether the audiobook is abridged or unabridged.
Tho sometimes you can tell by clicking thru to the non-Amazon sellers listings. Sometimes one of these sellers will put this info into the specific item description, or a seller will give the cassette or cd count, and you can guess from that.
@f00l Aside from creating a massive market place and making embarrassingly minuscule amounts of money doing so, another thing Amazon masters so well?
Doing a really crappy job of putting complete and accurate info on product pages. The energy potential customers expend digging thru Q&As, “reviews”, and googling products on third party sites in search of solid product info is legendary.
@RedOak
But Amazon likes it when we do that. And so far people keep doing it.
Re minuscule amounts of money: They could being making less that zero, or making all kinds of $ and using us for acquisitions and new products and services. Buffett might know the diff. I wouldn’t.
@f00l
Do what? Expending energy digging for info? In my experience it leads to me not buying the product a lot more often that it does buying.
Either because I simply don’t want to waste the time digging for basic info that should be in the specs… so I abandon the page… or…
As a result of the digging, I uncover other feedback exposing negative issues with the product… or…
I find the item on another site for less money or a site that simply does a better job of presenting it, even at the same or close price. And I prefer to reward the site doing a better job, especially if it isn’t the big guy, Amazon.
In my case, I’d likely buy more from Amazon if the product info were complete.
@f00l A more extreme case of truly weak product info - Newegg Flash “deals”. They don’t even include the user reviews they might have on their main site. And it isn’t always obvious on Flash deals who is really selling the product. I used to watch their Flash deals closely but now only look when I have some spare time.
@RedOak
Re newegg flash: messed with that a little and decided I hated it. Will have nothing to do with it. Pretend “great deals” that weren’t, for weak minds.
Kinda like here, except here the prices are almost always seriously good at least. And we know what we’re in for here.
Re Amazon: the optimal site for you or I might not be the optimal site for sales to the masses. I’m sure they’ve collected, and presumably used, a lot of user data. However I agree they could seriously improve layout, info presentation, and completeness.
@f00l I’ve snagged some really good deals on Flash, but you gotta work too hard to find them.
Newegg has got to be the most archaic e-commerce site of its size. It feels like it was designed in the early years of the Internet.
RE, Amazon and the masses, clearly they are not targeting me. The Lightning “Deals” have become page after page of either garage sale junk or non-deals.
And according to their survey of customers, 60% are superstitious.
But if you like Ruby Tuesday (we don’t) They have a nice 20% off deal on a $50 gift card right now… selling fast!
@RedOak
Is Ruby Tuesday a restaurant?
I only hit Newegg when they get a lotta chatter re something specific on Slickdeals. And I mostly try to avoid Slickdeals, because it’s way to easy to start thinking you need to buy stuff if you hang out there all the time.
Amazon lightning deals are mostly garbage. Some exceptions, esp Nov. and Dec. but it takes so much time to wade thru them it’s a waste of time. They started out decent. Now they’re just a sinkhole for compulsive shoppers.
Notice the the quality of Gold Box Deals is much more variable now? Some of those are still wait-all-year-worthy. Many of them are barely better Lightning Deals.
I think Amazon is banking on shopper laziness, habit, and addiction. I think they’ve prob made a good bet in the aggregate. Just not for us.
Four years ago I also got sucked in to doing contests and sweepstakes, everything from mommy blogs, The Travel Channel and everthing in between. I was craving immediate gratification.( some contests boasted winning on the spot) NEVAH won a thing!! There’s a risky side to it, most just want your email and other personal info. and filling out surveys can be the riskiest.
@growyoungagain yep. Wisdom there.
@growyoungagain Consider buying a personal domain with a decent registrar that provides basic email service.
Create an email forward (or account, depending on what the regsitrar provides) for a different address for each contest (or contest/vendor/company) you enter.
Or check with your ISP to see if they give you the ability to have multiple email at ispname dot com addresses to use.
My McDonalds Monopoly email address was monopoly at supersecretdomain dot com (yes that was obfuscated). For other contests I used four letter acronyms, or other words (contest to win a mustang, email address is mustang at supersecretdomain dot com). If I start getting spam, or even excess email from the company on some email address, I turn it off. And blacklist the company/vendor, and complain to the Postmaster if I start getting surface spam mail that references a contest email.
I’ve gotten a Cr48 when Google was giving them out to beta test Chrome O/S, and I’ve won an Asus EEE Box through a Facebook promotion years ago.
Never won anything from Amazon. From other places: $50 check, $25 and $100 pre-paid Visa cards, Buffy stuff (dvd, comic book, etc.), and a box of candy bars. My absolute favorite win though was from Archie McPhee: a cockroach-themed metal lunch box filled with a GROSS of rubber cockroaches. Still a prized possession.
Funny story:
After reading this post several days ago, I started entering some if the giveaways, without much hope of winning. Well, yesterday I did win something. Granted, it was a cheap flashlight, but it is free.
Thanks for the info, you just got me a free flashlight.
Thanks for the heads up about marlboro, I just won a Duluth Utility Pack (valued at $115). Woohoo
@lichme Horseshit. I STILL haven’t won anything from anywhere.
@carl669 Caaaaaaaaaaarl. Do they normally send winner notification emails? Their rules say you have to validate via email, but I didn’t get one after submitting my address.
@lichme LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICH! i don’t remember ever getting an email notification. sometimes i didn’t even know i won something until it shows up at my door.
Nice. Apparently they won’t allow me to play because I live in Michigan. Damn Michigan.
@lichme Well, I spoke too soon. I got an email saying I won a GrabOpener from Marlboro.
/image GrabOpener
Did meh twitter just retweet some random giveaway that required a tweet to enter?
Edit: Perhaps a staffer doing stuff under the wrong account? Don’t spam me, bro.
I subscribe to the Amazon giveaways daily newsletters and play occasionally. No, I’ve never won.
STILL nothing from Amazon giveaways, but I won a Zippo from big tobacco.
@medz I won that today as well!
Also, Black and Mild has some free phone wallet. Unfortunately I claimed it before I got a good look at it, so I’m not 100% sure what I got, lol
I don’t even feel bad that I don’t smoke because my family smoked forever… And Marlboro made plenty of money off of them.
@RiotDemon Reparations!
@RiotDemon The cell phone wallet is a leather thing that sticks to the back of your phone. I think Jen is taking the one I got to carry her ID when she doesn’t wana bring a purse.
@Pantheist thanks. I got it the other day. I’ll probably include it in the next meh exchange. I decided I don’t want to hide the Japanese cat stickers all over my phone case. Plus, I carry a wallet anyway.
So I’ve been scoping out those adjustable desks they are giving away, and reading the fine print. This one says the 20.000th entrant will win, so I usually wait a while to enter.
But here’s the kicker: the few times I’ve gone back to see the winner info, there is no winner. WTF?
They must time it for one day to make it impossible to get enough entries? Not sure how they rig it, but I feel duped.
@KDemo Well that’s messed up. I thought it was odd when I was seeing the survey response ones that claimed you had to submit the correct answer which meant you had to visit a link of theirs. I don’t think they have a way of enforcing that when it’s a survey giveaway though…
@KDemo
I would have liked an adjustable desk, to try this concept out.
but WTF that amazon doesn’t follow thru?
@KDemo I agree! I wish I knew what was going on. I was winning almost once a week.
@KDemo I’ve done some statistics on these giveaways, and those that require a specific number of entrants stop producing winners when the required number reaches about 2,000. There are exceptions but not many. I wouldn’t spend time watching a video, for example, for a giveaway with a very high entrant requirement. Check out giveaway.city . You can filter out things you don’t want to see and get notified when new giveaways are available.
Good month for me. Old fashioned kit and metal water bottle from marlboro, cell phone wallet and wood steering wheel cover from black and mild
Just won a Kindle book.
Then again, the odds of winning were 1:1 with 1 winner.
(There are 4 other listings for the book, so 4 people here can win…)
@PlacidPenguin I don’t enter for the books.
books are terrible
@medz
Agreed, but I wanted to win for once.
@PlacidPenguin I’m tempted to set up a giveaway for some $2 thing and force people to watch a meh.com youtube video to enter.
@PlacidPenguin What most folks don’t figure out: you don’t have to play the video; just minimize the window until the two minutes has passed (some don’t even take that long if it’s not stated under the video). I usually click on 20-30 giveaway links and then cycle through them, minimizing the ones with videos, and continuing to enter the others while the time passes.
@bluemntbacon
I know.
The inconveniencing thing (for some people) though is that you have to stay on the tab while opening a box. You can’t just cycle through them to open them and just cycle through them to see if you won.
@PlacidPenguin I haven’t had that issue. I wait until the box hits the bottom and then ctrl+tab, or if the box is already on the screen, I wait until it jumps up and then cycle on. When I get back around to the tabs, they are right at the stage of opening. If you use Chrome on Android to enter, you can usually have multiple tabs open and visible and then just close them when you see “…you didn’t win” which is most of the time! XD
@PlacidPenguin I just realized that I meant to originally reply to @medz. Apologies, man. (Or woman, or zim/zer)
I have won several stuff from amazon giveaways (dec 2016-mar 2017). In the beginning, I was winning one item a week
-ebook
-DVD
-Zumba workout stuff
-an awesome ice-cream scoop
-Roku smart tv
-oven mitts
From other places I have only won $5 gift card (twice) from https://myentertowin.com/
I like prizegrab but I just started it and hope to win some really nice stuff.
I have not won anything since March 2017 from Amazon, which makes me wonder if it’s broken. When I leave some tabs open until it expires, it lists no winners where before I know it listed winners.
I have won $500+ worth of merchandise over the last six months. You have to be EXTREMELY DILIGENT. Honestly, it takes up a lot of my free time and isn’t monetarily fruitful versus working a full time job and simply purchasing the items myself, but it is fun and quite addicting. I won a drone just last night…
I won something substantial from blackandmild.com’s contest last month! I haven’t received it yet, though. I can’t say what because they’ll likely post the names of the winners somewhere and y’all be too stalkery for all that.
@medz I keep starting to sign up for all the tobacco giveaways but I have to say that I smoke. I don’t smoke and I am terrible at lying.
@sammydog01 I told Marlboro that I prefer menthol and Virginia Slims is my fav brand.
@sammydog01 I just used what my parents used to smoke. Marlboro got tons of money from both of them, so they can suck it and send me free junk.
@medz I’m bummed. Didn’t win anything from that contest even though I clicked every day.
I guess Marlboro spoiled me with my free Zippo that I use to light incense.
@RiotDemon same here
For the people that use Marlboro for free stuff, they have a new thing this week.
Click on some road trip stuff and get a free phone mount that attaches to the vent of your car.
@RiotDemon Already have a shipping label generated for mine!
Omg… Thank you for creating this post. No joke, I just won a set of Viva Home barstools!
@shyxgrl
/giphy thumbs way up
I won the first one I entered. It was a snorkel mask. A few days ago I won some Chinese crap adhesive hooks for hanging garbage on your walls or whatever the fuck.
blackandmild.com enter daily for a chance to instantly win $100 Virtual Visa Account to be used online.
I’m still waiting for my big prize from last contest. I’m in the “8-10 weeks after contest ends” period, so should be any day now.
Finally got a call last week for my big black and mild prize, so that should actually be coming soon. Also today:
Floating glasses. Hells yeah.
I finally won something from Amazon! It only took me like 7 months! Valued at $50, it’s something my daughter will like.
Just discovered Amazon Giveaways. When I first found the page, I was like “OMG they are just GIVING this stuff away??!! JACKPOT!!!” And then I realized you have a chance to win.
Now it’s been a couple hours and no wins yet…
Has anyone every had the Amazon Giveaways glitch where the box drops down, you click to open it, and then it drops down again? Sometimes this happens three times. I’m using Safari. Always makes me think, “Wait! What if that was the one that was going to win!!!”
@a13z using safari and never had that glitch. Of course I never win either - thus likely never to have missed winning by a double or triple drop.
@a13z That happens to me sometimes, too. I use Chrome.
@a13z Happens to me in Chrome. Seems like it occurs when I have too many tabs open entering multiple giveaways at once and the site cookies get confused.
I won an Amazon giveaway just a couple of weeks ago. It was for these storage boxes: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XHJXN8N?smid=A2OZ254Z7WPAIH&ref_=aga_p_pl_ge_title
I just won an Amazon Giveaway today. Fire 7 Tablet w/ Special Offers. I will use it to play Clash Royale on a slightly bigger screen.
@DaveInSoCal Congrats!
@DaveInSoCal You think the larger screen will help?
@jaybird nope!
Been wondering for a while, but never bothered too check:
Why are some the odds by some listings listed in red, and others in black?
@PlacidPenguin If you’re talking about the ones on https://giveawaylisting.com/, the hover text says the red ones mean the 1000th (or whatever the number) entrant gets the prize. For example, I won something where it was like the 700th entrant wins. I was the 700th person to enter.
The black ones imply you have a 1 out of 1000 (or whatever the number) chance to win.
, Amazon popped on said I want a thousand dollar card for Amazon and they pick like ten people a day to click on it and I did and the hem mi go some hockey answering all these questions and then wanted me to buy stuff that’s not free at all and i’ve seen a lot of that from other people I just never expected it from them
@tommytwotoe
Those aren’t from Amazon then.
@PlacidPenguin @tommytwotoe I agree. That’s some sketchy scam stuff going on. I’ve seen malware pop-ups and banners like that before. “You’re the lucky 10,000 visitor! You won a $1000 card.” If it’s too good to be true, it probably is. If possible, I would report your experience to Amazon. I don’t image they would take kindly to someone pretending to be on the behalf of Amazon. Also, if you provided personal information (name, email, password, etc) you should change your passwords immediately. If you were prompted to download anything, run your antivirus scans and clear all browser history, cache, and temporary files.
@tommytwotoe
/image lucky winner!
You have the opportunity to paypal me $50 to have a chance at winning $1000*
*odds are 0/1
@Seeds
I like those odds. Where should I send the money?
@PlacidPenguin Jen wont let me post her paypal because she claims you are clearly joking. My paypal is banned for life I can give you a postal address, but I am a little nervous because I think we live near each other. I’m in morris county.
@Seeds
What’s there to be nervous about? That I show up for supper?
@PlacidPenguin dunno your dietary preferences.
If you took Elijah’s seat next passover, nothing would make me happier.
@Seeds
I mean, if the pinnacle of happiness for you is that you have a penguin come to your house, then you’re easy to please.
@polksaladannie
Isn’t it nice to deal with people who are easy to please?
I started entering Amazon giveaways today and won a new hammock on my first try
@delihlah Good for you! I tried yesterday for the first time and came up empty.
@delihlah @mfladd I have always come up empty. But then again I only enter the things that don’t require me to watch anything, tweet anything…
@Kidsandliz thx necromancer
@Kidsandliz I do the ones that require me to watch, but you don’t even have to play the video, you just have to stay on the page for 30 seconds. I let it run in the background. Still have not won though
Just an FYI for anyone what cares:
Marlboro has a new enter-to-win promotion started today. You even get a free gift with your first entry. (phone tri-pod thing)
Black and Mild is still running their promotion too. (I won a beverage shaker set last week)
I recently won a vegetable spiraler from amazon giveaways. Not much else, though.
@medz Years ago Marlboro sold? had as a prize? a full size folding mountain bike. I bought it used from someone. It is a wonderful bike. I am not a fan though of riding around with a tobacco company name on it.
@Kidsandliz
/image krylon
Would fix that. And you could make it purple!
@djslack Well yes that is true… but if ever re-sell it it might have more value with the original name on it. I need to get around to finding out the actual brand it was before it was “marlboro’ed”
@Kidsandliz is it this one? http://www.foldingcyclist.com/Fuji-Marlboro-folding-bike.html
Although every picture I can find says Fuji on it very large they may have changed the graphics on some.
@djslack Yes this looks about right. It is actually a pretty decent bike. I bought it used about 10 or so years ago.
Yes, I’ve won 5 products in four months at the Amazon Giveaways page. Some worthwhile like the meShare security cam I won three days ago to the FireTV stick I got 3 months ago. But I also won a pet deshedding glove - meh indeed. I finally found an anal dog nut to give it away to. Since that win I’ve stuck to only entering the giveaways for good stuff. Why waste my small amount of luck on winning crap I have no use for? It’s not easy to win stuff there - it takes daily entering and perseverance. That and being so damn bored I’ll do anything to entertain myself. Unlike the lottery it doesn’t cost to play and I’ve won more on Amazon than I have with the state lottery.
@upallnyte
/giphy anal dog nut
@therealjrn @upallnyte
You had me at anal dog nut.
@upallnyte so you just enter each thing you can daily or do you enter things more than once?
I try to enter daily. Obviously the more you enter the better your odds. Most giveaways are instant wins and you can enter them daily until they’ve given away as many as they had to give out. But some - usually the pricier items, are enter only once drawings. Thankfully the ones that require watching some dumb video to enter only require watching for a minimum of 30 seconds instead of a glacial two minutes. They no longer have giveaways that require tweets. I think because sellers were recruiting people to give free products to in exchange for 5 star reviews. I was solicited that way.
@upallnyte
Good. I don’t use Twitter, so this means there are more giveaways I could try.
@PlacidPenguin
I didn’t use Twitter until I started doing the giveaways. I dusted off the account I’d set up years earlier that I’d made to see what Twitter was about just so I could enter the ones requiring it. I’m actually glad that I did. People selling stuff on Amazon got my email address that way and began sending me invites to write reviews of thier products - which I would get for free. I’ve wound up with more shit that way than I could ever hope to win with the giveaway. Thousands of $$ worth of stuff. It took me two months to win my first Giveaway prize. In six months I’ve won 5 products there - the best being the FireTV stick and the l security cam I won last week. It’s crazy how much stuff is given away by the Chinese as they compete tooth, nail and claws with one another. Amazon hates it.
I just found out blackandmild.com is giving away free personalized lighters (engraved with your initials). They only had 1 style of lighter left, though.
I often enter
https://www.thebalanceeveryday.com/daily-sweepstakes-and-contests-887079
So far this year have won
100 gift card to lands end
600 Visa gift card
A bar table and chairs
Several movie tickets or fandango codes
Baseball tickets
Assorted free food or drinks
@CaptAmehrican Seems to be links to various other sites. Do you just use your better judgement before providing info to each of these sites?
@CaptAmehrican @medz
Someone we know might be interested in this one:
@medz yeah i use the list snd some judgement
@CaptAmehrican seriously? That’s so much!! Wow.
@CaptAmehrican Holy carp that is a lot of good luck! Of good stuff even. You enter each thing multiple times or just once?
I did win a sugar/salt scrub, but it’s soooo strongly perfumed I can’t use it. Tried once and got a migraine. Hopefully can give it to a friend. I’m still hoping to win something better though.
Well many years ago I won a cheerios contest. A foam pool table game that you set up on a kitchen table. I gave it to my sister’s friend so she could give it to her 9 year old for christmas.
I was wondering myself if anyone has ever won an Amazon giveaway. I’m starting to think that no one actually wins an Amazon giveaway, they just win a discount to that item Amazon is “giving away”.
I’ve never won an amazon giveaway either, and I have been trying.
I won a saw blade giveaway. Well, I ordered a blade for my table saw and they sent me two. I took it that I had won a sweepstakes giveaway and kept it.
@capguncowboy
/giphy eh, ok
i won a griddle thing, that was supposed to be good at cooking bacon. it was valued at $78.99. i waited for a month and it never came, so i emailed their customer service. they told me the people that hosted the giveaway “lost it,” so amazon gave me a gift card for $78.99. i did not purchase another griddle thing that is supposed to be good at cooking bacon. i bought several useless small items, such as socks. i personally think i came out on top.
@LemonTheCat socks aren’t useless. They can be made into puppets, handwarmers or can even be used as socks!
@capguncowboy …but they were socks for a cat… i am ashamed.
I won about 7 things this month. Nothing high value at all, but I did win some toy cleaner, which I thought was quite practical. Then I looked it up, and found out it was for sex toys.
@lichme Still quite practical, eh?
@lichme really?! I thought the name was suspect, but I also thought it resembled the foam tablet cleaner I got from woot. “Toys”… Good to know
@compunaut @lichme That is practical!
I went through a period using this site to enter Amazon giveaways, filtering out the books and things that required tweets and follow (leaving me with either straight through clicks or videos). I’m sure I entered a few hundred over a few weeks and won nothing.
I’ve entered the pre-Prime contests this week, but I don’t expect to win.
I’ve probably entered over a thousand Amazon giveaways over the years… Never won anything. Don’t know why instill bother.
I used to have a daily habit of going to paddling.net (.com now) and for over a year I would submit a daily entry into their kayak giveaways… Would never win.
In fact… I’ve entered lots and lots of giveaways but the only thing I’ve ever won from one online is a Tibet national football (soccer) team shirt… It’s ugly and cool at the same time.
In non internet giveaways… I got a $10 Home Depot gift card once from a random buisness card drawing. Oh and I got some crappy beats headphones that broke on the second use in a business conference once.
I’d say overall though I’ve got very little to show for the thousands of drawings I’ve entered in my life.
I won a fire 7 tablet
I just entered to win an 82" TV. (prime day giveaway via the amazon app) I technically have space for it in the basement, but…damn.
This is a terribly old thread, but I bumped into it through a google search for something else. I just want to add, for the last few weeks I have been playing these a lot in-between design projects. The absolute best way to win is to use Giveaway.city
There you can filter out things, and the way they have this set up, you see the odds right off the bat, then you see if it is a click the bouncing ball or watch a video. I work from both the top and the bottom. The top, after some time, I click the low numbered (every 400 or every 1000) and at the end (after clicking “load all”) I just click all I have not clicked.
I have won 5 giveaways. An electric tea kettle, a set of pyrex food storage containers with lids, some silicone lid stretchy fit on all containers type things, a card game and just yesterday a set of mesh produce bags.
You learn which ones to click and not to click (low odds (1 in 19,000 when it only posted an hour ago for instance) after awhile, but other than that it is all luck of course.
I use my laptop because I can shingle the video pages and let them run until the yellow bar to click becomes available. If I use my phone, I only do the bouncing balls, I filter the others out.
So, there you have it. My 2cents.

{VMod edit: automatic link to script removed, since this violates Amazon Giveaway T&Cs.}
@PenLo So I can put my AMZN credentials in there and you’ll keep them all safe? I’M IN!
@therealjrn There is no storage of credentials in the program. If you read the Readme on the Github repository you will understand better.
@PenLo Whatever. You just now joined meh and just now happen to be posting your program here. You do not appear to be a customer of meh at all.
You didn’t even try to do an AMA or introduce yourself.
I’m going to stay safe and not install your janky program.
@therealjrn I appreciate your stance on security. I can see now how my post looks.
You are correct, I am not a current customer of meh, I am here only to build back links to my Github repository so it becomes more relevant when people search for ‘Amazon Giveaway Bot’ in google, and the only way I know how to do that is to google it myself and see what comes up and post on those already ranking high.
To be honest I didn’t even really expect a reply from this old thread but since you did reply I just wanted to give assurance that my intentions are not deceitful.
@PenLo
Isn’t that what exactly what a cheater would say? Don’t you have a letter from the Director of the FBI or something to back you up?
@PenLo @therealjrn
The intent is for things that other people think are relevant score higher. Other people.
Running around posting links to your own site is an attempt to score higher in Google. It’s cheating.
