[Grownup Shit] How has Meh helped you be *more* responsible?
3We know we have a reputation for offers that inspire impulsivity and occasional regret around here. But occasionally we have some super useful stuff that will unironically improve your life—think emergency kits or discount batteries.
What kind of stuff like that have you taken advantage of? Or what don’t we offer that if we did might make you a better person? Speak up! Your answer might matter this time.

@Cerridwyn
and I totes agree!
Witness my impulsively buying these flashy things today.
That said, SWMBO, my great-niece, and great-nephew thought that the gifts they received [purchased from Meh and subsidiaries] were the nuts, the cat’s meow, and other hackneyed expressions meaning wicked good, boss, etc… [1 animated colored light globe each from Side-Deals, and a light saber, respectively]
Dear Meh: What, in the more-than-a-decade of posts on this forum, has led you to the delusional belief that we want to be more responsible?
@rockblossom
Good point you have there- wear a hat and no one will see it.

@tinamarie1974
We didn’t really watch Castle, but we loved, loved, loved him in Firefly and Serenity.
/youtube Malcom Reynolds gun in your hand
@PhysAssist I absolutely adore everything he does. I was actually looking for a gif from Castle, but the firefly one worked just as well.
@PhysAssist Not from Mal, but…
“Sure wish we’d brought some grenades.”
@tinamarie1974 Wasn’t that the scene where the next thing he says is “Well, you can’t.”
meh has taught me to be VERY LEERY of buying stuff I don’t really need from some folks selling unwanted, expired, second-hand, worthless items from the back of a “VIRTUAL” White Van!!

I bought car jumpers that came with a battery to run it. While I have never had to use it so far, and hopefully remember enough to keep the battery charged so it can work (although I don’t know how long the battery lasts until it dies of old age) at least I will be prepared like responsible people are. Right? Oh wait - maybe I am responsible because my car has never needed jumped?
@Kidsandliz I’ve used mine twice. Both to help out other people but I still keep it in my car in case I ever need it for myself.
@ironcheftoni @Kidsandliz One of the ones I bought and gave to a friend has helped out.
@Kidsandliz So far, four of the ones I bought have been used to get somebody out of a jam, some of them more than twice. They’re damned handy.
When I buy the wine you sell and I drink I am less irritable/cranky and therefore nicer to my fellow humans. Being nicer/supportive/complimentary to others boosts their morale and makes the world a better place, albeit not me being more responsible…so there is that
@cbilyak
That’s a good one
It has taught me to take my raven like need to accumulate shiny things and share the wealth to those less fortunate, ie… $1 underwares and socks, and nifty things for Toys for Tots
@ironcheftoni
First of all, I love your cooking show, and 2ndly, you’re kind of a poet there.
I like it

@narfcake if I could only be someone’s indoor pet.
But unfortunately I’m not housebroken.
@pakopako Broken-housed, though…
In the immortal words of Mediocrebot:
“Something went terribly wrong. Please try again.”
@blaineg oh yeah, we’re so awesomely responsible, that’s why they gave us @mediocrebot right?
@blaineg @mediocrebot is hung over already huh?
Several months ago, an effort was made to improve the software that automatically safeguards the forum against spam intrusion. I can’t say whether it actually works or not, because if it’s successful, its operation is invisible to everyone at the user level. But between the implementation of that, and the overall slow decline in participation here, the need for moderators had been reduced. And since I was the one with the least seniority, I was stepped down. This was actually a bit of a relief, and freed up a bunch of my time so that I could concentrate on other things that needed to be done. And I have accomplished more in the past 2 months than I did in the previous six. So there’s that.
Last year, I impulsively bought an absurd amount of alien tape and used it to fix something for a neighbor; I think that made me a really great person who is also humble. While I am well aware that this is not the same thing as being more responsible, it’s not nothing so, there’s that.
More responsible?
Umm … no.
I had been doing ok until I discovered Meh. It’s been a train wreck ever since. I’m now a complete basket case.
The other day, I almost forgot to refrigerate a battery!!
/showme you’ve done this to me, Meh! in the style of rembrandt
/showme meh failed to make me a better man
@mediocrebot I’m not sure what this is depicting, but I believe I wholeheartedly agree.
@mediocrebot @shahnm I LIKE that! Who knew the bot could be funny on purpose?
@Kyeh @mediocrebot Number 5… is alive?
