Bought one last time and it is SUUUUUUPER useless. Really hard to get a key out one-handed. Even the metal one with expander only holds 7 keys and a fob. If you only have 7 keys…you don’t need an organizer. Meh.
Also, loosen the screw and the keys move more freely, while the friction of the washers still hold it together (Disclaimer: gregormehndel is not responsible if you lose your keys, but he might point and laugh).
Husband had one before until the car dealership broke it. Great for those who stick their keys in their pockets - keeps it more compact. Good early stocking stuffer!
@canuk I actually really enjoy mine. I’ve had one for a little over a year. I put my USB security key on it and it feels like a swiss army knife, but for internet security.
I’ve noticed as fall approaches that a local gun shop is advertising something like this (radio ad, can’t see it) for hunters as a stealth keychain. You know, so your jangling janitor keyring doesn’t scare away that monster buck.
I’ve been carrying the aluminum one since the last offering and it’s fine. I actually don’t use my non-car keys daily so I appreciate them being compact and orderly when they’re in my pocket. I have whacked my car window with it accidentally once or twice, but thankfully with no ill effect.
I see what you’re up to, meh. Since I bought the basic version in July and loved it, you put this up now, tempting me to upgrade. Well, I won’t fall for it. At least you can use this in your morning email teaser without editing.
@ponagathos the small orders get sent after the reasonably, somewhat too big to rationalize, what the hell were you thinking, and you’re, sleeping on the couch tonight, orders. And all of those will get sent out after the big orders get shipped.
I have almost bought one of these many times. Before almost buying it again, I decided I needed to justify my VMP membership, as my last purchase was in April. Nice work, Meh.
This will fit almost no car keys from the past 20 years… The more recent half of that have integrated security chips which means they can’t be copied to a plain, flat key. So the car key hangs off to the side, fine. But how many of us have more than a couple of other keys? Hopefully for meh.com, a few hundred…
I’m a carabiner on beltloop guy, have been for years. No sore leg, no holes in pockets ( though that can be fun, I’ve heard). Started doing that when I had a lot of work keys.
Ever notice that the lowest guy on the work totem has the most keys and the boss has two?
I would probably go for it otherwise, looks cool.
@davido I bought one last time and have it attached to a carabiner-like clip. It’s only holding two keys and a pocket knife tool thing from Kickstarter. It isn’t life changing, but I like it because it keeps them all flat in my pocket.
@Bretterson What type of “pocket knife tool thing” did you get on Kickstarter – and more importantly, is it awesome? I carry tiny SAK Classic with Nitecore Tube on belt loop, and Leatherman Micra in pocket. (also other Leatherman, but let’s not go there
I like it… I’m not sure if I want to go so far as to say it’s awesome. I like that it’s a utility blade rather than a fancy knife blade, because I’m not actually “into” knives. Also, a couple times I’ve forgotten to leave it behind before events and I’ve just ditched the blade.
If you have 10 keys that’re all the exact same thickness and you never EVER want to seperate them from one another, then this product is for you!
If however, you ever find yourself saying, “Here take my house key” or “you know what, my house key is no where near as thick as my car key and its RFID chip”; then stay AWAY!
@tsfisch Scenario 1: It’s middle of July, we’re headed somewhere, I get the kids in the car, car starts cooling down, wife locks the front door, jumps in the passenger seat, and says “oh no I forgot my makeup bag, give me your key so I can run in and get it”. I turn off car and bake in the hot sun while she searches for her bag cause her car key is to big to pull off the ring easily and the house key is locked in said contraption (said contraption is also to large to easily pull off).
Scenario 2: I’m having lunch with my dad and he wants to head by my house to borrow my trailer. I reach for my keys but can’t give him the lock key without either giving away my only house key or disassembling ALL my keys.
Scenario 3: I’m heading out on vacation and wanna give my house key to the neighbor kid so they can feed my dogs but I don’t wanna give a kid the key to my gun safe (also on said contraption), nope. Gotta wait for the wife to show me where she hid the spare.
Reasons why I keep it: wife got it for me as a birthday gift cause she thought I’d love it
@AiraCobra I fully place the blame on automotive manufactures, why does a car key need to be that big? why does it need fancy electronics and non-user replaceable batteries? if they made watch calculators that are tiny, if they can fit bluetooth into an ear canal, then they can make a wireless transmitter with lots of features only slightly bigger than a regular key.
sure, a big fob is handy when it’s in one’s hand, but it doesn’t really spend a lot of time in one’s hand does it?
I’m not sure how anyone is fitting 5-6 keys on the big aluminum one. Mine fits 3 (barely) and the keyring thing, and I’m tempted to just go back to the key chain. Keysmart more like
/giphy key fart
Nice touch, offering the Tile version, which is incompatible with the Bluetooth locator things you offered previously!
/giphy it’s a conspiracy to get us to install more apps and fill up our phones
I have one plastic one and one metal one. They’re both good. I like the longer metal one for a longer key. I also keep my yubikey on it. (Just think of it as 1.5 keys of thickness, i.e. one key and one spacer.)
I wish I’d gotten them at this price, but as a keys-in-pocket guy, I’m very happy with them.
I have the Tile one already. I like it. Even if you only use it for a couple keys this is more streamlined with the keys than any other Bluetooth tracker that’s available…and you get a flashlight too
It works, but not really as intended. If you want to access your keys regularly, put the spacers between every key, with an alternating pattern on the other side. It’ll only hold half as many keys, but it’s much easier to pull a single one out.
I love mine, but I need the expanded width version as I have one of those extra-long keys for the door of my apartment building. I got it because I got tired of my keys rattling in my pocket when I went for runs.
Does the Tile option come with an expandsion pack too? 100% need the expansion pack if you want to fit more than 2 keys. Already have the aluminum one and fits 6 keys oh so comfortably with easy one handed use.
I bought this last time and really enjoy it. I don’t understand all the “solution without a problem” folks. Keys are no longer poking my legs when I put them in my pocket and no longer scratching up my bag when I throw them in my backpack.
I’m considering upgrading to the Pro with Tile tracking version. @mandirose does the Pro come with the 14-key expansion pack?
@shawn I really hate it when things scratch up my bag. Painful, that. Instead of throwing keys in your pocket, try gently placing them in there. Less risk of the keys scratching up your sack that way.
@shawn It does not come with the expansion pack but it does hold up to 10 keys. We are working on getting the expansion pack up on the morningsave.com market though and I’ll post a link to it once we get it up for anyone who wants to purchase one for the pro or for the Polycarbonate model.
@nicholfd I honestly don’t know why this didn’t work for you… Edit: if you copy/pasted perhaps it’s due to the “smart” quotes. Try typing the quotes around the model type. Double Edit: but…don’t expect that coupon to work for you
I bought one because I have 2 fobs, 1 RF tag, and 9 keys on 6 interlocked rings. 2 main rings, really, with 4 small ones to give extra spacing on the fobs and such. The extra rings are necessary as it lets me “fold” the group of keys in half when I put it in my pocket. If they were all on one ring, it would be like 3 inches thick and awkward with keys jutting out in all directions. Aside from being bulky, I have issues with smaller keys getting stuck through other rings and being all tangled up.
I’m hoping I’ll be able to put 5 work keys, 1 house key, and 2 padlock keys on this contraption. I should be able to put the remaining fobs and large car key on a single ring… we’ll see. 3 of the work keys are very thick, so I worry about that. The padlock keys are small and abnormal shaped. This probably won’t work at all…
This is my first forum post - are people usually this negative? I have one and really like it - it’s really compact, my keys no longer dig into my thigh and I always know which key is which based on where it is.
That it doesn’t house a car key doesn’t seem to be a dealbreaker considering it still makes my keychain smaller and more organized.
@krylonultraflat People just like to bust meh’s balls. At least half of the negative comments are only negative for the sake of meh-ness. You know, if it was too amazing, it wouldn’t be meh. Thanks for posting your positive review!
@krylonultraflat This is my 2nd day on Meh and my second post but I was thinking the same thing about the hostility. It is actually a great marketing ploy IMHO. Get a good deal on stuff then go to comments and slam the hell out of Meh and/or Meh Members. Everybody wins…
I have a couple of aluminum ones. I use them for work keys for our telecom rooms. I used a dremel for a couple to make the key heads smaller/thinner and they fit great. The downside is that it’s hard to identify which one is which so I have to fit plastic labels on the visible part of the key.
I hope they improved the hardware. Last time I bought one of these the screw and socket broke the first time I tried assembling it all back together with the keys.
@blaineg The issue is, the goldilocks tightness on this is razor thin. Too tight and you snap the hardware. Too loose and you’re constantly retightening lest the hardware come apart. I’m an EE not an ME so I don’t know the particulars of screw assembly design but somehow it’s not designed very well imo.
Just bought the red Al one to replace an identical one lost sometime during a bike ride. I owned the original one for ~2 years and obviously was satisfied since I bought this replacement.
I’ve had the long aluminum model for a couple of years, and it is wonderful. Even more life changing than a rose gold phone!
No, it won’t take a fat head car key. But my car key is a large switchblade remote key that only has a Nitecore Tube flashlight attached to it. The key/remote body is nearly as long as the Keysmart, and twice as wide. There was never a question of trying to stuff it into the Keysmart. And my wife’s car key dangles from the attachment loop on the Keysmart.
My Keysmart has 8 keys of greatly differing size and thickness, plus the loop for my wife’s car key. It took a bit of fiddling to get everything to mesh together, and getting the spacer washers in the right place makes a big difference.
The Keysmart bundle is much more compact than the keyring it replaced, and there’s no rattle, jingle or poke.
But the best thing about it is I can get the two most used keys by touch alone. I just grab the Keysmart, and thumb the head or blade of the key, and rotate it out. Far faster and easier than any key holder I’ve used before.
Don’t listen to the negative Nancys, give it a try.
And if your a die-hard keyRING type, take a look at the FreeKey. It’s the easiest one I’ve seen for adding and removing keys. I use one for a collection of USB keys at work (OS installers, boot drives, utilities, etc.)
I got rid of 3 rings and got the RF tag into the keysmart. Still 2 too many fobs though. I could probably get the one fat car key in there… might try that.

Meh.
Bought one last time and it is SUUUUUUPER useless. Really hard to get a key out one-handed. Even the metal one with expander only holds 7 keys and a fob. If you only have 7 keys…you don’t need an organizer. Meh.
@CraigDanger just a heads up that last time we sold the metal one we didn’t include the expansion pack
@mandirose No, you didn’t. And that’s a bit rude to to those of us who bought it last time.
@craigthom Rude? really?
@CraigDanger Gratitude is key.
Also, loosen the screw and the keys move more freely, while the friction of the washers still hold it together (Disclaimer: gregormehndel is not responsible if you lose your keys, but he might point and laugh).
@CraigDanger Bought it and it’s the best key “ring” I’ve ever owned.
triple meh…
I never realized how good I had it with my keyring until I bought one of these.
UGH
Husband had one before until the car dealership broke it. Great for those who stick their keys in their pockets - keeps it more compact. Good early stocking stuffer!
I bought the aluminum one before, and my keys are still in it, so it hasn’t annoyed me enough to get rid of it.
My car key won’t go in it, nor will my bottle opener, nor, really, will my loyalty program cards.
It hasn’t come apart on me yet. I bought purple Loctite but haven’t used it yet.
I don’t carry as many keys as I thought. I’ve got my house key, a work key, and two padlock keys in it.
It’s OK. I do not feel that it’s an improvement over not having it.
@craigthom use the Key Ring app for your loyality cards. Its great and free.
@craigthom I ditched the cards and use this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.froogloid.kring.google.zxing.client.android
@craigthom I love purple.
@Barney @clonetek The Samsung Pay client does loyalty cards, but there are placed I go where my phone doesn’t scan.
This seems solves a problem no one needed to solve. I’m trying to make my key ring smaller as it is.
@canuk exactly.
@canuk I actually really enjoy mine. I’ve had one for a little over a year. I put my USB security key on it and it feels like a swiss army knife, but for internet security.
@blazedd my OCD is going off because the cut edges of one of the keys is facing outward. I’d have to flip the work key over.
Also, we can now duplicate your work and house keys.
@djslack A True Geek could read the USB key.

I wish Meh would stop trying to sell us this useless crap!
Now where are the fifty fidget spinners I ordered?

@tsfisch That sounds kinda crazy buying a key ring that comes with a loop for your in essence “key ring.” Just saying…
We got 2-for-Tuesday and candy corn Saturday…now can we please just designate a good/better/best day?
@wmbarr excuse me, but it’s Wacky Bundle Saturdays feat. Special Guest Candy Corn.
That said, how about calling it Three-Way Thursdays?
Sometimes a concept looks really good on paper or in the box. And then we all realize it is Meh.

@awebb I don’t think I’ve taken a key off my ring (unless it was to be replaced forever) in 20 years. Do you regularly share your keys with others?
And as posted elsewhere, this wasn’t intended for car keys.
@tsfisch Scenario 1: It’s middle of July, we’re headed somewhere, I get the kids in the car, car starts cooling down, wife locks the front door, jumps in the passenger seat, and says “oh no I forgot my makeup bag, give me your key so I can run in and get it”. This device will ALWAYS** be pointless until they make it big enough to fit the key fobs for cars that don’t have the single key
Also fit the newer keyless fobs for newer cars such as my 2017 Jeep which has the keyless fobs
@AiraCobra All it would take is a small metal ring to connect the two.
@loop But where does one get a small metal ring that is capable of connecting keys together…

I got one of these a while back (aluminum with expander) and I quite like it.
Bought one of these last time. I’d rather lose my keys.
I have an aluminum one. It holds all the keys for my rental properties in one convenient place, including garage keys and padlock keys.
In for several - gifts for my other landlord friends.
Nice touch, offering the Tile version, which is incompatible with the Bluetooth locator things you offered previously!

@awk But for those of us who already have other Tiles, it’s actually pretty nice. Otherwise you end up replacing your Tiles every year.

A solution without a problem…
The rechargeable Tile aspect alone is tempting. After two years this will have paid for itself.
I love mine, but I need the expanded width version as I have one of those extra-long keys for the door of my apartment building. I got it because I got tired of my keys rattling in my pocket when I went for runs.
