Should we expect a meh FIRE SALE soon??
2Looking at the meager sales for the past 6 days (today included) I’m beginning to wonder how meh’s bottom line is doing? Not one day in the past 6 has surpassed 500 units sold! Here’s the breakdown:
- 6/15 288 sold (as of 9PM EST)
- 6/14 208 sold
- 6/13 143 sold
- 6/12 469 sold
- 6/11 315 sold
- 6/10 226 sold
Looks like slimmer paychecks coming soon unless sales pick up! Hope I’m wrong though. Maybe better offerings will spur increased sales (and profit) soon!

I mean, if you combine Meh.com sales with the rest of our suite of sites through Stores.com (yeah, that’s all us), you’ll see that we’re doing pretty ok.
@ExtraMedium I’ve been getting the distinct impression that Meh is more of a side gig at this point, something done because enough of the staff still wants it around.
@ExtraMedium I guess if the profits get distributed equally among all of the separate entities everyone should be OK then!
@werehatrack @MrGoodGuy I think of it kind of like a the “first dollar” you see in a frame in some stores. You don’t keep it because of the value, you keep it because it means a lot to you and exists as a symbol of where you started. We dust it off once in a while, and might replace the frame from time to time, but the dollar is the same. It’s important, and it’s not going anywhere.
@ExtraMedium @MrGoodGuy @werehatrack I would like to think that this (postage crisis) too shall pass, all in good time. At that point, meh should get a boost. If and when that happens, I think there will be a very blameless goat profiting from random selection in a month of economic goodness.
Or so I would like to think.
@cfg83 @ExtraMedium @MrGoodGuy @werehatrack I don’t think the postage crisis will stop. First Class stamps are going up next month to 82 cents. Makes that pile of postage stamps I found in my mom’s desk that she hoarded from over 10 years ago even more valuable.
@ExtraMedium @ironcheftoni @MrGoodGuy @werehatrack Thanks Mom!

$.82 is insane! I have a huge (I mean HUGE, like sheets and sheets) of forever stamps. He bought them thinking they would be worth something some day but of course all their worth is the postage.
@cfg83 @ExtraMedium @ironcheftoni @MrGoodGuy @werehatrack ugh I should by another book. I remember when forever stamps came along at like… 32 cents?
Google says 41 in 2007… I guess I’m remembering older stamp prices.
I only need like one a year for HSA rollover. I’m not paying $25 to do that lol
That being said. The post office is critical infrastructure and needs paid for. Why are can waste money on other stupier things idk. Jack up the rate on advertising I throw in the recycling without opening
@cfg83 @ExtraMedium @MrGoodGuy @unksol @werehatrack I rarely spend money on phome apps but one that I have found that’s been totally worth it has been Paper Karma. You take a photo of the return address on junk mail and they do the work for you unsubscribing from all the bullshit. When I transferred my mom’s mail to my house, the amount of junk sent here quadrupled due to all the mailing lists my mom was on. The app has gotten rid of nearly aĺl of it. And even with postsge goiing up, junk mail won’t stop since they cut a deal with the usps for bulk mail.
@cfg83 @ExtraMedium @ironcheftoni @MrGoodGuy @werehatrack
What I’m recently getting is blatant scam home crap because I guess they are scraping public GIS data.
Probably BS AI generated Garbage/scams cause this didn’t happen 13 years ago.
If we have a do not call list a do not mail list should be a thing. Except the USPS needs money. I’m going to start sending back empty postage paid envelopes
@unksol Check out https://www.catalogchoice.org/
It’s for all junk mail, not just catalogs. Free to use.
It’s not perfect, but I have used it for the last 18 year and very rarely get junk mail any more.
@rockblossom I guess I should clarify. I get very little mail. What I would classify as junk are basically those mortgage scraped public records where they attempt to get you to respond via deceptive language. And are scams and don’t stop
Then there’s the credit card letters even though you are paperless. Whatever I’m not opening this.
Those all go in the burn pile.
Then there’s some local area adverts I’ll look through. Cause. That’s fine. If I build the pond yeah I might need the guy with the long reach excavator someday…
I kinda want an estes catalog if they are still doing those. Just cause
@unksol Ah, yes. Those. That’s why I have a shredder and a compost bin. I do get a bit of satisfaction from turning scam mail into compost. Around here, they are usually a one-and-done if they don’t get a response. My “favorite” in the last few months was a new twist on the old “we will buy your house with no closing costs” bit. They enclosed a complete sales contract for the property that just needed a signature. The price was based on the “property value” listed by the county for taxes, which is 20% of the estimated value, which was locked when I turned 65 - 10 years ago. At least I got a good laugh out of it before sending it through the shredder.
@rockblossom lol mine are some version of home loan thing. Which is why I’m tempted to put the papers back in blank and mail it back. Just to waste their time.
I’m not sure I have the energy for a “hi you forget to sign” campaign over mail though.
I’m generally on the “don’t reply so you don’t exist” side
@unksol I rarely get anything with a prepaid envelope, but if I do, I like to send it back thickly stuffed with blank paper and something heavy enough to trigger a double postage charge.
@rockblossom @unksol
Is it safe to compost that much ink?
@ExtraMedium @ironcheftoni @MrGoodGuy @unksol @werehatrack
OMG, that sounds fun. If you mail it back, will you include a message?
/showme Contents of letter saying “This unwillingly solicited citizen would like to thank you for accepting this postage paid envelope in support of the USPS.”

Sounds like something the most interesting man in the world would do.
@rockblossom @unksol
You have to be careful with that because once the critters eat the mail …

@cfg83 @ExtraMedium @ironcheftoni @MrGoodGuy @werehatrack I think what we should do. In the interest of preservation. Is take the scam mail that has no identifiers. And mail it to the ones sending postage paid envelopes.
I think return to sender is still a thing?
/youtube return to sender
@pakopako Non-glossy newspapers and mail are printed with plant-based ink that is safe to compost. I separate glossy-finished inserts/mailers and put them in the trash just to be safe. Just more toxins for the landfill.
@rockblossom @unksol
@cfg83–OMG, that image is actually so clever and kind of charming. Damn that AI.
@rockblossom @unksol until they finally stopped sending my mom stuff, i did that to the republican party if they sent anything with a postage paid envelope.
Forget a Fire Sale, what would be nice is a 3 to 4 day notice of a Mehathone, so my wife can give me permission to stay up all night long; not dancing in the street, but buying stuff all night long!
@1DisabledWarVet Would giphy help here?
/giphy song all night long

@1DisabledWarVet
With the advent of the ICYMI link that is less ‘necessary’ than at some points in the past.
@1DisabledWarVet @chienfou also the lack of cheap irks during the mehrathon negates the need to stay up all night hoping to snag a no longer coveted irk.
@ironcheftoni

I think the literal answer to the headline question is “Only if the purchasing folks can find a really novel kind of cheaply-shippable fire at a bargain price.” Maybe a pallet of those utterly bogus “military-grade plasma torch” things? Preferably with one of the adapters that allows using buffet stove butane canisters to refill it? This thing:

They make the regular lighter-filling butane tanks look like utter trash, both in terms of lack of leakage and cost-per-gram of the contents.
@werehatrack hey, that’s a nice adapter thing. I got a medium torch that runs on those cans, it’s pretty great.
I can haz computer parts?
@narfcake Eight-core Ryzen CPU on an Asus mobo bundled with a decent two-gens-back Nvidia card, for under $400. I’d buy three.
@werehatrack Instructions unclear. In 2026, the new processor is a dual core based on an 8 year old architecture.

@narfcake I need to find a drop off ecycler for the box of things the cats have ruined.
