Disclosure Day - Not a spoiler
3I’m cheap when it comes to movies. They have gotten to where I don’t want to pay for it. Note, I live in California, so I can pay the 20 bucks to stream, for example Project Hail Mary, and see it from my own home for the same price as the theater.
Well, pay it and go see Disclosure Day. It’s reviews are sorta mixed, but it is definitely Spielberg and aliens and much darker that Close Encounters or ET, but that’s the movie bizz today.
I think you’ll enjoy it. I did.
PS - we should agree to no spoilers at least until it has been out for a week.

Spielberg still got it?
@pakopako I have read good and ho-hum about it. John Williams came out of retirement for it.
I haven’t seen a movie in a theatre since the Rise of Skywalker. It sucked, but I wanted to see for myself on the slim chance that my nostalgia neurons could be fed.
@cfg83 I did the same, with marginally better results. The number of absurdities in the post-classic episodes just kept climbing, and was still heading for the stratosphere when last seen.
@pakopako
I just saw it at the AMC IMAX it was really good but I thought the ending was meh…
Stubs A-List. Member 2 tickets at 1:30 show $12.24 total. Think it’s worth it, the sound is TOO LOUD! I bring earplugs so I’m comfortable.
Auditorium: 18
Reserved Seats: C8, C9
Ticket: 1 Adult; $17.49, 1 Senior; $16.29
1 AMC Stubs A-List Savings: -$17.49
1 Tue and Wed Savings: -$4.05
Ticket Total: $12.24
I can’t bring myself to spend $26 on a movie
@cf1
Thankfully I qualify for their senior discount, and I’m not averse to seeing a matinee during the week.
@chienfou That was the matinee
@cf1

@cf1 I would pay that for the right movie. I have been an Emily Blunt fan since the End of Tomorrow(title?) movie with Tom Cruise.
@cfg83 Me too – I love that movie
@cf1 Yeah, the Groundhog Day of SF action adventure. The great thing is if you don’t like Tom Cruise as an actor, then you get to see him get whacked over and over again.
I made it a point to wait years to find the DVD at a thrift shop. I was NOT disappointed …
FWIW Regal theaters has a membership plan that costs about 80 bucks for 3 months which allows you to see an unlimited number of movies during that time. There are some concession perks as well. Were the closest theaters not over 35 minutes away I would be all over that.
@chienfou That sounds like a good deal. Hmm. The Regal theatre is a bit up the road but it is only $19 for the matinee.
@cf1
It’s worth looking into. If I can get the cost down to less than five or six bucks a movie I would certainly go more often if it was closer by.
@chienfou Same here. I never go to the movies but I think I’d go every couple of weeks if it was cheaper
@cf1
The last few times I’ve gone has been using the $5 a ticket deal which T-Mobile does on their TMo Tuesdays every now and then. Or when we went with my grandson who is the one who has the membership. He is a college student so uses his a good bit in Chattanooga
The last movie I saw in a theater was Blade Runner 2049 (the original Blade Runner film is one of my all-time favorites). But once the film started the volume was set so loud that it was distracting. I did not enjoy the experience, but later watched the film (several times) on my home theater system and like it a lot.
)
Haven’t been in a theater since…
(And get off my lawn!
@macromeh I got to see BR2049 at The Fox Westwood Village Theatre, and it was a worthy sequel. The only thing I would change is the Rachael scene. I don’t think it was needed.
I am not on your lawn, but I cannot speak (or bark) for the neighborhood dogs. They have no respect.
