@Kyeh@Pony yeah he doesn’t sleep in the bed yet-he cannot be trusted just yet. His crate, however, is next to my bed. As it gets close to 7:30 he will do an occasional low whine and/or toss his bone around the crate. The longer it takes me to do it it becomes more frequent.
BTW today he let me sleep to ~7:45, that extra 15 min was glorious
I’m up early 7 days of the week but these days I don’t go anywhere. There’s no difference in any day of the week for us anymore, except for the medical appointments M-F.
Jeeze, hadn’t thought about how dull and boring life’s gotten in quite some time, thanks Meh!
Now y’all know why i’ve been crying about a mehrathon!
Lol
During the week I get more sleep. Alarm is set for 6:30 on weekdays and 7 on weekends regardless of what time I go to bed. It is much better for me to stay in the same routine.
I can’t sleep late. My body won’t allow it. I enjoy weekend mornings though when I’m the only one awake, drinking coffee, and watching what I want to watch on TV.
The weekend is just like any other day. So, no sleeping in. I get up between 5:45 and 6:00. Sometimes he sleeps in until 6:15.
There’s work to be done. (He’s self-employed with a thirty-four week lead time for what he makes right now, sleeping in is not a luxury he feels comfortable with.)
Pretty much up between 7:30 and 8:00 everyday. Fix a pot of coffee, grab a cup, and walk next door to check on mom.
Normally get to bed somewhere between 11:30 and 1:00 depending on whether we are watching anything on Netflix etc. on my off week or I am working 2nd shift on my work week and get off on time at 23:15.
Thankfully I don’t have any trouble sleeping. I can pretty much fall asleep anytime I get horizontal!
@f00l
Saturday morning routine for us when I was a kid involved bowls of dry fruit loops or Apple jacks etc and sitting in front of the TV watching Hanna Barbara cartoons like Yogi Bear and the Flintstones…
So this weekend morning I got up a little before 6:30 to the call of nature. When I stumbled into the bathroom, my feet got wet - the supply line to the toilet was leaking. So much for sleeping in on Saturday morning!
I’m not a morning person to begin with, and Friday is the one night I usually stay up late hanging out with my best friend or doing something with my SO. Last night I was up until 2 so yes, sleeping in is required.
Only when necessary or when I just happen to wake up.
Wake up early but don’t get out of bed, best of all worlds.
Charlie let’s me sleep till 7:30 (give or take a few minutes) every day regardless of when we go to sleep. So I will be up at 7:30 on my day off!
I get up before sunrise 7 days a week to take care of chickens, ducks and sheep, so it’s all the same to me.
@Pony @tinamarie1974
This is why it’s great to have 1 cat.
He doesn’t get to sleep in the bedroom, although sometimes I do let him in after I wake up.

“Routine”? On a weekend?
No.
Get up early only if something better than sleep is planned. Less things are better than sleep these days.
Saturday is the only day of the week my girlfriend and I have together since we work almost opposite shifts, so of course I get up early.

@Lynnerizer Are you still on lockdown? We’ve been living the “new normal” since Sept 2020.

Getting up for any other reason than “I’m excited about all the self indulgence I’m about to enjoy” just sucks.
No matter what time.
/giphy “snooze button”
Remembering childhood mornings, when often I woke up early for the fun of sneaking around, following my impulses, or annoying the parents?
Sigh.

@macromeh One of the benefits of getting up early, getting an early handy-man start.
@macromeh
At least it was the supply line and not you leaking…
Why bother.
I can’t help waking up early on weekends, though it’s usually 6 or 7, instead of 5am.
So maybe that’s sleeping in?
I usually sleep till about noon on the weekends. It’s my sleep in days.
