@studerc Just hope that when you hit it big, it isn't fake security cameras. I couldn't even give those things away! Well, then I gave them to someone on the forums for some sort of college project. Not sure what that was about, but I like to think that somewhere out there, there is a car with 25 fake security cameras mounted to it.
@cengland0 Yeah I saw that too. Selling out in a minute makes it no longer worth staying up for. Oh well. They now make it such a crap shoot not worth my time as the odds are too low. I had been sort of hoping they'd give the VMP a gift on their birthday. Probably too many of us to do that for too at this point. I guess they like growth but we have just lost something I find that is valuable - which is a fair chance to win a fuku and not having to click exactly at midnight and even then you might lose out.
@editorkid Hey they gave us permission to bitch in the description... not my fault it is like woot with respect to getting one now. On the up side they have appeared to have fixed the website crashing problem in a fuku LOL
@Kidsandliz what do you want, lame ass where's waldo like woot? The last two sold out in a minute or two also. This is not a change. If you want one, open your browser and sign in five minutes before, and start hammering refresh at 11:59. Every night.
@givemeyoursoul Was signed in like others were and had the same issues as some others did. Might be worthwhile not to make assumptions and engage in name calling. While this site allows the use of swear words, typically nasty language and name calling isn't directed at others. Perhaps you haven't noticed that most people do not flame others here.
@Kidsandliz Oh I know. And honestly since Meh pretty much is the soul of our former favorite shopping site, the tradition must continue. I was just continuing the other tradition, the people who complain about the complaining...
@Kidsandliz Like I had said before, they're damned if they do and damned if they don't fix the server crashes. It's just crap, be happy for the winners and better luck next time or go to bed. More Fukus is not the solution, because it will be too easy and each will have so little value that they will be guaranteed to be completely useless. Meh might as well just print a picture of a red bag on a quarter million sheets of paper and ship that as the next Fuku. Everybody will be ecstatic they got one, but nobody will be happy with what they get.
Wow wtf is going on. I clicked refresh, saw it was a bag. Clicked buy that shit right away. Got the pop up. Click robot. Oh shit I gotta match some pictures, choose the cheeseburgers fast man holy shit.
Click verify. Good. Click Purchase. Two bars. Works. See Order. Click it. Its listed on order page. Go back to front page. Sold out. 619 total.
And I missed out on the last 2 or 3 from laggy servers or bad timing sleeping. Hopefully this will be my glory bag.
@baqui63 Ironically, that's not an immense liver at all. It's actually a very nicely sized and shaped liver. I say this as I currently have a patient under my camera 20 feet away that has a particularly immense and oddly shaped liver. Cool pic though.
@cengland0 don't worry, they have a patch for that, then a patch for the patch, then a patch for the patch for the patch, then a patch for the patch for the patch, oh and have some mcafee crapware while you are at it ;)
@cengland0 I despise Flash and eagerly await its along-overdue demise. But when I recently disabled it in Chrome, I was disappointed/horrified by the quantity of content – from video streams to UI – rendered inaccessible in 2015.
As infuriating as these plugin crashes are, constantly needing to fall back on my secondary browser (just to load one of those Flash-dependent websites) was even more inconvenient.
@Rowsdower Any site that still requires flash to run should have their developers fired. It's difficult to get flash on mobile devices like iPhones, iPads, and Androids and the majority of people are using portable devices as their primary browsing method.
Look at today's stats for an example: 48% on a phone, 7% on a tablet. That's more than half of the visits are using a device that doesn't support Flash.
Thank you for a wonderful year, and a bunch of t-shirts which are in a box somewhere, but which I keep buying. Thank you most of all for utilizing the drawstring backpack, which has haunted my dreams since I missed out on it! I'm the happiest obsessive-compulsive hoarder in the world right now!
1 freaking minute??!!! And what was with that stupid "I'm not a robot" verification thing??!! It delayed me for a few seconds so I missed the fukubukuro??!!! What a crappy way to start my day. Pissed off.
I hadn't been around Meh much the past months and was bummed to miss the shirt yesterday. By chance I was awake tonight and saw Fuku on my phone alert from twitter. Can't believe I managed to get one! Probably not worth the $10 but at least some excitement in my life since the embolisms in May in a good way.
@cengland0 Well I had VMP for 6 months or so. I dropped it when my old CC expired and I suffered 13 blood clots in my lungs and right side heart failure or cor pulmonale . I was out of work for months as well.
@mossygreen Well I would like to think my luck changed back in May when I survived something I was told I shouldn't have probably not have. Then again I quit smoking after 25 years in February and if I hadn't I wouldn't have for sure. From about the 3rd day in the hospital I had hope I would pull through this and with each day better than before. Not even a week passed and I honestly felt better than I had in weeks prior and when I left the hospital I felt better than I had in months. Turns out I had many warning signs, I was just stupid and ignored them. Then followed weeks of rest and walking, when I could, to get my strength up. The real issue was and is still to some point my wife is disabled with MS. She draws no disability still however so I was the only provider for the family. 2 months of part time work due to feeling bad followed by 6 weeks of completely no work followed by now 3 weeks part time work left us in a situation where I have stacks of bills, letters of threaten to evict and little money for anything spectacular. I learned the hard way in all of this that the only person who will take care of you is yourself. Get off your butt , go to work and survive. Or die trying.
I went from a person who only took a Aleve per day to someone who takes 16 pills a day including a water pill, potassium, beta blockers, blood thinners, pain medication and more.
I went from a person who stopped at Arby's most days for a few roast beef to a person that can't have the sodium in one roast beef sandwich over a entire days intake.
I went from a person who would stay up days at a time even at the age of 42 and drink 2 liters of soda a day to a person who sleeps 8+ hours every 20 ( and a odd schedule now due to that sudden tiredness ) and only drinks a can a day.
Most of all I went from a person who thought they were invincible to someone who now knows they were dead before and truly alive now and life is a gift that should never be wasted.
I am not sure how I managed to get a Fuku. I wasn't on Meh when it came up, or even at my computer. I did have my phone beside me and was able to get to the computer and come to the site to hit the button. Oddly enough even though I had not purchased anything in 4.5 months I was logged in. more odd it had my new CC info already entered. There must have been something I almost purchased in the previous months for that to happen, but I honestly cannot remember.
I'd like to think my luck has changed far earlier than this night and this Fuku. After all I've had Fukus and BoC's before and lucky was hardly ever the case when receiving one. The draw is the days and weeks wondering just what craziness is involved.
I expect a bag in which my cats will play in such as last time, and maybe some more stickers that I can place on my desk and even though I do not drink coffee I still drink milk out of my creepy cup with the ceramic spider in the bottom. I used the leak frog from the last one in a remodel I did over the winter to give a homeowner some peace of mind. It saved his bathroom from damage and my a claim a few months back. When I got that Fuku back in November I remember being slightly mad at the crappy things inside even though I hadn't expected anything grand. At the time it all seemed so useless but despite that it in the long run gave me and my pets enjoyment and even saved me from costly damage on a job I did.
I expect nothing more this time either, but I do expect no matter what crappy things reside inside that box, that should I be alive I will be happy and if not, someone will get a good confused laugh from the matter.
I looked at my clock and saw it was 11 so I head on over here and get here at 11:01 and see the sold out sign because it's fukubukuro. Do you guys just sit on your computers at 10:59 every day waiting in case it's one of these? And only offering 620 of these then huh, like honestly fuck off
@mick Actually yes: Because of that my laptop was sitting right next to me when the alert came. I even struggled with the captcha and had to do it over. Still managed to get one which never happened on w00t.
Thank you Meh... Now I can get a solid few days of slee.... wait... We still have a baby that is teething... @studerc if you're getting any sleep now... it gets worse... Just a FYI... Teething is hell...
@studerc we need a babies.meh.com. :p. Baby gates are a pita but a nessisary evil. Raylan just learned how to do stairs.
There are so many awesome things. Like he also just learned to clap by himself.
I guess I can't complain too much (loudly) about sleep and teething. He is almost 10 months. In that time we've probably had 8.5 months of hm sleeping through the night. But as you probably know that doesn't mean we got 8.5 months of good sleep :p
@bchrist825 do what I do. Load it up on 3 devices. It freezes and shit on them but whichever finishes first is awesome. Phone loaded meh.com 2nd but loaded the buy screen 1st. Mac did meh.com 1st buy 2nd but completed the sale. Pc was fucking useless but it tried.
Damn, first Fuku I ever missed. I had already accepted the fact that I would probably miss the next one (This One), so i'm not that mad. I would have LOVED to have gotten it, but its all good I've had my fair share.
Meh... flustered-moaning-point Happy Birthday Meh. Almost missed it too, was all ready to check it when it went live and was busy doing some actual work when the guy next to me told me I was right and it was a fuku, managed to snag one in time.
Happy Birthday Meh! Alarm has been waking me every night at midnight for 6 months now to buy your stuff! ❤️❤️❤️ Got my Fuku on tonight! ARCHED-EDUCATED-WOOL! Woo hoo! Where do you come up w this stuff?!?
I literally clicked to buy this at 11pm cdt and the green bar did it's animation thing and phlat...error! Then it was sold out? Is Meh ever going to offer more than a handful of Fuku bags? I'm so disappointed!
Was all the way to confirming my order after checking that I was not a robot. I had the green check mark. Then it said robots can't buy it. I'm sure I wasn't the only one screwed by Captcha. That really sucks. Fucked me over yesterday on mobile, but at least got through on my tablet.
Hot damn I got one! I could not be more excited. Shout out to my fellow Clashers. Without you guys I'd probably never remember Meh o'clock ...and be very bored. This site and our clan has kept me throughly entertained. Here's to another year!
@katylava UM, well I'm not a robot. I don't know how many times I have to keep telling people this. Maybe you could have a check box in the account page that confirms that YES you indeed have my CC info, YES I have been a member for over 300 days, YES I have bought multiple things, and NO I am not a robot? So your oldest customers don't get fucked out of a fuku because of captcha errors? Or are there a lot of robots with VMP that have been around since the beginning and bought multiple things and been active in discussions?
@Romulux And all that means nothing when so-called loyal customers could write a script to buy without actually being here and loading the page. Do you really think there's a fucking mass of robots running around trying to buy things? No. The "robots" are customers who want to buy coveted, limited edition things with no effort. You and your purchases do not make you special here.
@studerc I dunno why you think I think I'm important, but I was really just looking for an answer and I got it. I haven't gotten in on a single fuku, so being on time but denied multiple times with a captcha kinda sucks.
@Romulux And a crazy meh-addicted person is just as likely to have a bot written that automatically buys things with fukubukuro in the title as anybody. It's just the sad reality of it. What meh SHOULD do is have a stupidly expensive item that somehow triggers buy bots by including the term "fukubukuro" and, that day only, requires an email to customer support for a cancellation, on approval (if you bought in the first few seconds, tough).
@katylava I got the easy version. I checked the box and hit the buy button about 5 times as it told me I need to confirm that I'm not a robot. When it finally registered that I had checked the box and wasn't a robot it was already sold out.
Yeah! 2 minutes. Well, three minutes now. But,but I actually had a chance at this! That's amazing for me! I never got one of those things at the other place,(and after the first year or two, thank goodness for that!), but I had a chance of getting one the first year, and possibly the best year, here! So I was ThatClose, and that's pretty cool to me. My friends The WestCoast Meh'ers, also have a chance of missing it two minutes after their midnight. My guidance counselor would be so proud of me!
Wow sold out ? ? ? That's not fair for some of us die-hards that buy a lot of that stuff that we really don't need . Now something to put some of that stuff in and it's sold out in 6 minutes. Kinda disappointed...... Don't think it's fair ......
BTW...ummm...props to @shawn and the rest of the crew. That was the smoothest Fuku to date. Honestly, people shouldn't complain so much, in the past people had to wait hours for disappointment, you only had to wait about 60 seconds. Thanks, @shawn you da real MVP.
Upon getting the text, I yelled "FUKUBUKURO!", jumped off of the couch, ran to my computer, actually got to the page that shows my payment info, clicked the stupid box to show that I'm not a robot, and...
...no dice. It was only 12:02 by the time I'd realized I was definitely not getting one. I am confident that I was on the payment info page before 12:02.
Not cool. I'm not upset that I didn't get one, as it's just stuff. I'm upset that actually tried and failed.
Happy Birthday Meh! You have absolutely terrorized my sleep pattern and tempted my bank account day in and day out :) Today I snagged my first Fuku bag, my life is complete. Here's to many more awesome years.
I'm guessing I was one of the very first losers to miss out. (It was still 10:00 when I hit the final purchase button. But when it finally finished processing, just after my clock rolled over to 10:01, I had a message telling me they were sold out instead of the beautiful confirmation page. I blame my phone for the precious seconds I lost loading chrome. And I officially hate all of you. At least for the next hour or so.
@Romulux Yes. The reason they do that is to prevent someone from creating a script to auto-buy the fuku without having an actual person involved. Regardless if you have a credit card on file or not is meaningless to determine if you are a script or an actual person buying it.
i was on my way home from work and decided to check and of course when im not home and im on my phone in the middle of BFE theres a fuku, i saw it availiable but didnt have enough connection to actually get one :(
Today is my birthday too and of course I get screwed out of yet another fuku even though I hit it at 11 sharp every single night. You still rock don't get me wrong but damnit hook up a loyal ass member already instead of making me a jealous angry bitch
I got so lucky. I had to login. I forgot my password and had to try several times. I then realized that I had my old debit card information put in. My new one hasn't arrived in the mail yet, however Meh accepted my old card number, probably because it hasn't been completely "deactivated" yet. I got the confirmation email and $10 is out of my bank account, so I'm good to go!
@capguncowboy That's pretty much what happened here. I got mine, but I couldn't get one for my husband in time. We only had the check box, no weird stuff, but I took too long to load his page because I was scared I'd miss it on mine. At least we got one! Streak unbroken!
I kinda miss the old days on Woot where people would claim that they are a loyal customer and their square would show that they have less than 5 purchases in a two or three year time period. I do love the people claiming they should get a fuku because they have a meh button streak going, whole lot of money for Meh in that.
@samnrick I had slow tech until Amazon sent me a new laptop to review, but I managed to get my first BOC before my tech got upgraded. Hint re: woot... hang out in the forums during a woot-off and if you miss a BOC, check out the forum thread for the BOC. There will be some hints there about how you can get the next one that pops up, and they pop up a BUNCH of times during woot-offs now.
@djslack I was invited into Amazon's Vine reviewer program about 7 years ago. I get to select items out of a perpetually updating queue and got lucky when it updated offering me a Toshiba Satellite C55-C5240 laptop at the end of March. It's an invite-only program they initiated shortly before I got my invite, and I guess I got lucky. I'd only written a few reviews before I got the invite, but people found the ones I wrote to be helpful. It helped that I'd been a beta tester for the Kindle 1 and was able to post an extremely detailed review of it the day they released it. I've linked the laptop review in this reply.
@CircaRigel Nice. I used to post helpful, detailed reviews back when I started using Amazon, but I had stopped well before the Vine program came out. It seems like a nice idea, but then I remember how I don't get enough done as it is.
Edit: i just thought I posted detailed reviews. Wow. You earned that laptop :)
@capguncowboy posts like this are what makes the fuku dealio the most annoying. "Stop bitching geesh, here buy mine on ebay" i can respect reselling stuff but this is a cock slap to the face. Congrats regardless
Disclaimer: ok so not your post now but in general lol
@capguncowboy The complaint, as best I can articulate it, is that those who obsess over this site, but don't set their alarms to 11:59pm, have no hope whatsoever of reaping one of the prime objective of Meh'ers.
The '2nd Tier' fans get little meaningful hope of ever benefiting from the bennies of this site.
Last time you had a meh day #4 one, 88390 of you visited. 39% on a phone, 7% on a tablet. We sold 1129 of these. 6425 clicked meh. That's $6059 total. 95.42% of you didn't bite before we sold out at 1:53 am ET. this time sold 619 in one minute - a lot less in even less time -- meh :(
Screw you meh! The one time I can't buy it because of payroll issues and getting sidetracked by mild drama at like 10:30 and it's the new fuku! I knew it would be though, and as much as I like the idea of this I'll probably be happier with yesterday's shirt
@PurplePawprints I saw that in the thread. How the heck would someone get a Fuku and accidentally cancel is beyond me. I mean, you have to still be in the order placed dialog to do that, and you have to click at least two separate links! Unless they decided their best bet was to order every meh that comes up, in hopes that it will be a Fuku, and got in the habit of cancelling right away when it wasn't a fuku, and did it by rote w/o paying attention.
@PurplePawprints@CircaRigel earlier when I woke my phone up, it was on the orders page where I had last verified to make sure my order went through. As I went up to close the tab, my thumb brushed near the Cancel link on the page and I almost fainted. Thankfully I didn't click it.
I wasn't going to say anything but what the heck, I'll join the rest of the whiners. I guess since I'm not in CA, TX nor NY I missed out on the 1% that Meh allocated to the rest of the world. I was here slightly before midnight, refreshed the browser and was greeted with the sold out notification. I'm actually legitimately interested in the actual percentages sold to each state. And I wonder if I can convince Mediocre Labs to start the Fukus at 8PM EST to see if that has an effect on who purchases them? I highly doubt it, but it's interesting to think about...
@marvelljones I'm on the east coast, in fucking West By God Virginia, of all places, and managed to get one. It's not a location issue, really. Those states with higher populations sell more. It's crazy, I know.
@PurplePawprints Still sticking with my earlier suspicions. If population were a factor FL should have gotten more than NY. Only around 20% of FL is "old people, " so that shouldn't be a factor. You were lucky and got part of the "1%" I mentioned. If population were a factor then there should not have been any left for you, since WV is 38th in total population in the US. And please look at a map, you are in the eastern US but definitely not on the east coast unless VA and MD are severely flooded.
@marvelljones See the colored-in county closest to the center of Nebraska? That's me. Nobody else from my county has ever ordered from here. Usually there is only 3 or 4 in my whole state. Despite that, I've never had any trouble buying Fukus, or any other item on meh. When you're only dealing with 600 sales, you're not going to see an even distribution that corresponds with state populations. You're talking an average of 12 sales per state.
@marvelljones You can stick with your suspicions, but it doesn't make them right. Yes, I was 'lucky' and I never said I wasn't. That doesn't change the fact that population does factor into it. States with higher populations have more people trying for Fukus, therefore, more people in those states get lucky and snag one. That doesn't stop people in other states from being able to get them, though. It does have a lot to do with the speed of your internet and device, though.
Also, I can get to the beach in less than two hours and have to worry about the occasional hurricane, so I'm pretty sure it's okay that I consider myself on the East Coast. I'm closer to the ocean than I ever was growing up in Virginia. Since I live here and all, I'm pretty sure I know where it is on the map. But hey, you just read West Virginia and decided to condescend, right?
"Congratulations, you won a mystery bag! Even though we were sold out, you clicked on the 'buy' button 1000 times, and we like to reward that kind of stupidity! Check your in box and spam folder for a confirmation email.
Exactly what I needed after the stress of the past 3 weeks... First, an uninsured teenager runs a stop sign and totals my car (when ricocheted off her vehicle, went down a 50 ft. deep embankment, through a fence, and into a house). My 7-month-old Shiloh Shepherd service dog in training would have gone through the windshield and been killed had I not been paranoid and made him wear a seat belt harness. Then, the replacement car my mom helped me get ended up having a dead a/c compressor, and finally last week, my puppy Galen nearly died again when he developed a severe case of hemorrhagic gastroenteritis.
REALLY hoping this Fuku has some good stuff in it! Plus it's my first Fuku!
@Portlis there's lots of threads of fuku reveals, but generally it's a ton of stuff that didn't sell or was left over for warranty purposes, with occasionally awesome or humorous items (say, a TV or 40 containers of play-dough).
@carl669 I thought about adding the "you", but since I wasn't on the site when the fuku went up I couldn't hold Meh. responsible. Now, had I been on and didn't get one, you bet it would have read "Fuck You, Meh!" ;)
Sigh... After dealing with flu symptoms for the past week and a half it finally caught up to me last night and I passed out a bit early. I was so exhausted I wasn't even able to set my alarm for a quick wake up for midnight as I had a feeling there might be a Fuku. Up at 5:15 for work this morning to see I missed it. My (non-kickstarter) Fuku/Fuko streak is over. Unless of course y'know, @JonT or @Mehcus or one of you guys or girls wants to show some love.
@thebrowncoat Keep in mind that California is never really accurate, because all of the overseas Meh shoppers use reshippers based in Cali. So in Korea, where Meh has a huge fan base and where the product flips at something like 2 p.m., everyone checks at work and then California lights up when they buy it. This is as comforting as tomato soup on a snowy day as the dog snoozes in front of the fireplace, I hope.
Common man if your gonna do this shit atleast have enough to go around for more then a minute what a fuccing tease ...run something special for members only yeah we get free shipping on shit items and i appreciate that really but make us feel special maybe once a month even if you dont mean it dammit !!!
been waiting for a fuku for months but alas. in the eleventh hour Borderlands and alcohol distracted me. I have failed at the one thing that matters most to me: acquiring bags of random crap of questionable value. my sorrow knows no bounds.
on a brighter note, happy birthday meh. here's a haiku I wrote:
fukubukuro: very mediocre things still elude my grasp.
I grabbed one and went to check out where it insisted I was a robot (after I checked that I wasn't one), a reload later it was sold out. Same with my brother. Was there an issue with bad robot detection (Capache)?
@StrangerDanger sorry for you I was able to get one even though I was at least 15 seconds late to actually hit the 12:00 moment, but I got in smoothly selected 2 hamburgers and I was on my way, but I tried to help out my sis and log her in and buy one for her and before I could even log in it was sold out
