@mediocrebot I stayed up until midnight to check the deal, stayed up until past 1:30 trying to check out. Finally got the page to load that they were sold out. I'm rather upset, especially since I did get into checkout at one point.
@akande westcoster here, i was in checkout and it timed out. We all got hosed, i tried for a good 30 minutes before giving up. The system just up and died.

I noticed that the "Something Went Terribly Wrong" song loaded and figured a bottleneck had been fixed. I redoubled efforts and got one order page that failed, then the captcha didn't work. Reloaded, and scored. First Fuku for me!

Was refreshing starting at 12:00AM and didn't stop until I got it, though since I was refreshing about 10 pages I cycled through, then played a bit of Oregon Trail for 30 seconds or so then started the cycle. Three times I got to the order page and the third time, four of them got to the order page.
I was 95% of the reason the servers crashed, I imagine. #sorrynotsorry
This is the most fun I've had since the BOC had the flash game levels you had to beat to buy it.
Incidentally I also beat Oregon Trail a few minutes before I bought it. Nice.

Hey, here this thing is! I got one, but didn't know until I checked the order page. I think I got it from my phone. Had to push the cat of my lap to go to the computer. By the time the pc woke up, the phone progress was already spinning. Got errors several times on phone and pc. Yay me!

@kfs279 Actually, with about 170,000 members per The Mediocre Lab Report 002 and around 1000 winners plus 2000 meh clickers, it's more like 56 pissed people per. However, some of them won't actually be pissed until after they wake up in the morning, especially the ones in the East coast.

Look, i'm not saying it's on par with climbing Kilimanjaro or winning a pulitzer or marrying the woman of my dreams or anything, but considering how long i've been trying to get one of these (including their equivalent at that other site) and that the closest i've ever gotten before was an hour-long loading screen before getting bumped out of the queue, i would say that tonight's purchase was definitely a life aspiration achieved.

You guys know I love you...especially after I ended up buying 90 of those cases with no hesitation...but I would have much preferred normal captchas. I got screwed for the first time on a fukubukuro because of that damn checkbox. Got a session timeout 4 times that resulted in not being able to order as it wouldn't check again. Was actually told by the captcha "looks like you're a robot" at which point I was completely locked out. Looks like part of the issue was due to being on LTE instead of wifi at first. Beyond that though, all I can blame is the implementation of that damn checkbox. At least with the jumbled words, if I failed it would have been due to me not being able to decipher them.
@wilstev One time on my iphone (4s) after checking, it popped an image and asked me to enter the numbers from the pic; I did, and I think thats the one that made it; the Mac browser ones had the wouldn't stay clicked problem unless I refreshed teh screen (only got one click per refresh, and those all timed out)

My first Fuku! Lot's of Meh purchases this month since the free VMP membership, hard to pass up some of the deals with free shipping. I think my wife may kill me if I keep it up.
Tried and tried and tried... unsuccessful. I hope everyone who got it is extremely disappointed with their $5 worth of crap! Now I'm going to cry myself to sleep.
I got my order submitted within about 10 seconds of the sale going live. I checked my credit card and saw the preauth long before i got any error message or confirmation from Meh. I logged out of my account and tried to log in with my wife's info. No dice. The servers melted into a puddle. Once Irk and @dave got the new servers put together 2 hours later, I was able to get her account to finally login and nab one. The Fukus were immediately sold out right after that
When you consider it was only on sale for about 2 actual minutes where orders could be submitted, it sold out REALLY fast. Reminded me of the Woot days, but those days never lasted nearly that long.

@unkabob The system breaking wasn't a coincidence which you can attribute to meh's convenience, it was directly caused by the load incited by the fuku bag being listed.
Ugh....I love this site....yet I wish you guys would increase your supply by like.... 10,000 or something. It's very frustrating to be one of those people who can't be on at midnight but generally not on till hours later and by then, stuff like this is always gone. @giroro And FWIW, my order DID go through at 12:02, meaning I wasted my time more than anybody. So the first fail page lied to me. Must have meant the email confirmation choice page was the one that failed. Fukubukuro should just auto email so people who got it (like me) won't be refreshing pointlessly and clogging up the site because there was no way of knowing it went through.

Set my alarm for midnight the last two nights. Yesterday's deal was meh, but was very excited for today's. Spent an hour trying to order before giving up. Then at 3:20am, my 2yo woke me. Checked for fuku and was already sold out. Disappointed.

The last thing I think I got was the kershaw funxion knife... A pocket clip screw fell out the first time I used it seriously, causing me to slip and nearly lose a finger. I submitted to Kershaw's lifetime warranty form, didn't hear anything for 2 weeks, and mysteriously got a package containing the wrong color clip with the matching screws of the wrong length.
Learned my lesson. Site down for first hour and a half. Then sold out in less than 30 minutes. Too much pressure for me. I'm bailing. Cancel me, I quit. Thanks for the ride.
After months of waiting finally fuku time. I tried and tried and tried for an hour and a half but could never get anything g but a white screen. So bummed.
I had it to the final click right when it went up, sat there with the green scrolling bar of anguish for a while, then got "oops let's try that again". The goddamn captcha wouldn't reload, kept saying I was a fucking robot. Reloaded the site about sixteen thousand times over an hour and fifty minutes, and the minute the order box worked again I clicked, only to get the non-loading captcha AGAIN. Reloaded one more time to see a sold out sign. What a crock of shit. I had that bitch in my hand, only to have it taken away. God, I'm pissed.
I tried for about an hour with no luck. For some reason my password was getting rejected. Tried resetting it and that link was broken. After that I tried buying it with Amazon but that didn't work either. Now when it is sold out my password works. I wish Meh would get their shit together. Why don't they upgrade their servers so that they can handle all the traffic better? I'm sure they make decent money and can afford it.

At midnight I saw the bag and clicked on the buy it button. The checkout screen came up and asked if I was robot, I entered the numbers and thought I scored a bag! But nope, that page turned all white. I then spent the next hour and a half trying. I checked my orders and nothing was there. I thought I got one because I did the right thing.
Seriously people, do you actually expect them to have over 36k Fuku's to sell? It took nearly two hours for these to sell out. Try to get a BoC, those sell out in seconds. (I gave up around 1:30am, no big deal). If they could handle that amount of requests at one time, these would be sold out in minutes. The servers being slow actually gives you a fighting chance. One deal each day. When it's sold out, the deal is done. ...did I just slip into Kenny Rogers?
@The_Baron Over two hours was inaccurate. The servers were down for the majority of those two hours, that's the only reason it lasted so long. Once they were back up, it sold out in minutes.
@The_Baron As someone whose checkout failed right at midnight and waited up for 2 hours for the servers to come back up, fuck you. It did not take two hours for these to sell out. I had to go to bed at 2am, and now I'm exhausted for nothing.
Dude.... I got in first thing, got the order page, got the Captcha, submitted and watched the green bar do its processing dance.... and got nothing but a session timeout a minute or so later. That sucks. I should probably at least get a Built NY tablet cover for my trouble.

@Blahbbs That timeout happened to me also after I finally got in again after nearly 2 hours. But then I remembered a tip I saw on the Meh Twitter page to right click on the Captcha and select "reload frame". They mentioned it working with Chrome. Worked for me.
Tried vigorously from 12:02 to 1:52 never getting past something went terribly wrong. Went to the bathroom at 1:53 and came back finally got a payment screen but sold out already. Should have held it in a little longer I suppose. Oh well, $5 more to spend on tomorrow's deal! Thanks for the meh time.

I really REALLY want one of these and have been emotionally crushed every time that I see it's sold out... but I can't stay up until midnight every night because I'm a big baby and if I don't sleep the night before work I'm cranky to everyone at my job, and no one wants that.

Didn't feel too well yesterday so I tried getting to sleep around 11 and set my alarm for 11:59. It seemed pretty obvious there was a Fuku coming last night. I couldn't sleep in anticipation. Had phone in hand come midnight (east coast bitches!) and refreshed when the midnight hour struck. Guess I was one of the extremely lucky ones as I immediately got the purchase screen. I was really surprised to see the Captcha box but it went through right away. Couldn't fall asleep for another hour after... 5:20 comes really quick. Think I'm feeling sorry for my patients who I get to stick a needle into today, but the sleep deprivation is worth it! 3 for 3 on the post-Kickstarter Fukus! (Notice that awesome 12:00 am email time!)
@Cinoclav I got the purchase screen immediately, too, but after the robot thing, the green bar never appeared. On my touchpad. So, I spent almost two hours on the PC trying to score. Finally did.

This is exactly the same situation as the golden age of woot with the BOCs: 1. Item pops up for sale. 2. A small handful of people get it seconds after it's listed. 3. Website slows down to the consistency of frozen mollasses. 4. The 99.999% keep hitting F5 in their dozen windows over and over again. 5. You FINALLY get to the order screen, 15-45 minutes later (in this case, an hour and 50 minutes later. 6. You click on submit. 7. You wait 2-15 minutes to get your confirmation/sold out screen. 8. You got to bed happy because you either got your crap, or saved yourself $5-$10.
@hems79 I think the real reason for the pissiness is because we live in an era of such incredible technology yet no one has managed to put together a system that doesn't overload when Fukus or BoC's are offered. It would be different if the system worked but they simply ran out of the offered number of bags. But I guess if someone had figured out a proper server system there wouldn't be any more websites being taken down due to denial of service attacks. They'd all be able to handle the traffic.

Boo that was super dissapointing. Stay up till midnight for no reason other than meh like usual. Finally the Fuku is here. Page loads around 12:02 and I click buy, notice the new captcha, click it and I'm all green. Press buy and watch it chug away. Some minutes later it gives me an error that it didn't go through and resets the captcha, try to click it again and it won't go.
Then an hour of refreshing to no avail. Around 1:15am decide to give up and try to sleep. Still groggy around 2 I try again, and behold they are all gone now.

Looks like I was not the only one to encounter the green bar fiasco of 2015. As many have noted, received the endless green bar then the site timed out. Tried for another hour before checking my order page and seeing that it went through at 12:01! Woohoo!

Wow! I started checking at 23:02 CST had phone, tablet, laptop all trying to get though. Pushed MEH button first then the buy button. 01:52 CST I got fukuburo four ed, fukuburoed, fukued, foured, fukubumeh, lkajforewq f, aw fuckit. I am getting a bag of ??? If I'm lucky I can get a few more of those rubber bag thingeemmobobs. I know 30 would not be enough. Thank you MEH. Side note, never had two deal a day sights active on my computer at the same time. So I think my computer had MEH and WOOT sex, kinda. It works in my head, I said HEAD. lol
I got 8 hours of sleep with no frustration. Yeah I missed a bag but I do not think I will ever buy one under the present set up as I have no plans of staying up late.

I woke up at 1:19am EST since my son was crying and then I checked Meh and saw the Fuku still available. I tried logging in for 30 or so minutes with my iPhone, iPad and then finally took out my laptop. I nearly gave up since I couldn't get to login and when I finally did, I couldn't get passed the Captcha. I couldn't take it anymore so I gave up but I hit refreshed 1 more time on my laptop and it finally let me through and I got my 1st Fuku other than the Kickstarter Fuku. I don't know if staying up til 2am was worth it for us East Coasters. Kinda sucks for those East Coasters who tried for 2 hours and got shiet.
@sushiboy I had similar experiences trying to order it starting at 12:21 AM through 01:45 - tried using tablet with 2 separate browsers and then on my desktop. No green bar but I never even got to the ordering detail page before time-out. How about some updates on your system for better server throughput Meh/Mediocre Labs?!?!?!?... Seems like you'd need it to even get to a Mediocre level of service given the comments here [and my experiences.... Sincerely, Really Annoyed In NYS
My girl and I fell asleep watching a movie. She got me up at 1155 ET (yup east coast) to head upstairs to bed. I was like, I gotta pee. I'll be up in a minute, or 5. I got to meh right at 12, clicked the buy, but never got a confirmation screen it was bought. So while she was sleeping I tried until almost 1 am from our bed with my phone. Finally I said, it's not worth it, put the phone down and went to sleep. Today, now that the servers have calmed down, I look at my orders and woo hoo, I got one at 12:02. Haha, I tried for an hour and I actually already had one...

@lizbeth374 I did the exact same thing, but after an hour and a half theres no guarantee you wont be waiting another 5 hours. After a while you've just got to cut your losses and get some sleep.
I had the checkout screen and green bar going (and stopping, then refreshing, repeat x50) for about an hour and half. I even kept checking my AMEX account and "Order History" in case it went through but just didn't tell me like for #3. Still nothing. So close. I had it in my cart, hit the captcha, got to checkout, bar loaded for awhile failed, then when I tried again it said captcha expired. All downhill from there. Just as well- I only have 5.85 in the bank account, probably shouldn't spend it on random crap.
I'm 9 months pregnant - woke up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, randomly checked the site and easily bought one of the last ones. I'm so excited I am thinking about naming my son Meh.

Like many others, I had it in my cart at midnight, tried to place the order, and it froze. The site wouldn't load for half an hour, so I went to bed. Really, really meh.

I got so pissed off, I had to go to sleep, wake up, and then come to the forum to write this angry screed. I had a late night conference call and was refreshing & trying to get Meh to load during the whole thing. Finally, just as I hung up the call, I got it to connect! Only 512 had been sold!! It asked me for my info and let me order!! I was soooo excited!!!
Then I hit the button to order and it told me that you guys had sold out of some stuff and, like that, I got no love. So, go fukubukuro yourselves for this one.
I love meh, and I'm not trying to complain, but I think I'm done trying to get fukubukuros in the future. For months, I've been staying up until midnight largely in the hopes of getting one and religiously check when the clock strikes midnight. I was on at 12:00 sharp last night and my wife and I spent nearly an hour trying to buy one, only to have every attempt time out. It was fun while it lasted, but it seems like meh has gotten too big now for me to have any reasonable chance at getting a fukubukuro. I've got to wake up early to take my two young daughters to day care and that extra hour of sleep is looking a lot more appealing than some infinitesimal chance of getting a fukubukuro.

drifting-natty-python here. I got up at midnight for Meh, per usual. Couldn't check out. I'm a sucker for random stuff, so of course, I sat at my computer for two hours clicking that pretty red button when I should've been sleeping. I did get one though! I wonder what'll be in it or if it'll be amehzing or mehdiocre or what! It'll be a mehracle, I'm sure.
As meh has said many times, don't have any thoughts that it'll be something special, but I'm hoping that it will be, as these past few months have been mehvarlously meh and I could use something to cheer me up.

I spent an hour and half, starting at 12 EST sharp trying to get one of these, but Meh has made ordering one of these things into some type of psychological experiment, bordering on cruel and unethical, testing the limits of human patience, stress & frustration. First, Meh had kindly logged me out of my account at 12am sharp, even though I had logged in before 12am. Trying to log-in again with my Meh account was ineffective; Meh apparently had decided that my previously perfectly-fine log-in password was wrong, so trying to place an order through that route was a no-go situation. So began the sisyphean chore of clicking the Buy button, watching the whole order page dim for some reason, then being sent to the log-in page where I was prompted for my Amazon log-in and then re-directed to a never-before-required 2nd page asking me to "confirm" my log-in request. Clicking the "confirm" button did nothing other than create a green-line waiting/loading screen which, of course, never actually loaded. Repeat, repeat, repeat...same thing. As a last ditch attempt, I asked Meh to re-set the password for my Meh account & I was finally able to actually log in. Lo and behold: an order page has magically--somehow--popped up! I'm in! I can't believe it! But wait, Meh's not done with the fun yet. "Are you a robot?" they ask at the bottom of the order page. "Well, no, sirs, I'm surely not. See? I've typed 'efflo' in your little text box to prove it. What? That's wrong & you still think I'm a robot? Okay, let me see the new word you're showing me & I can re-type it in the little text box. Look, now I've typed 'meglil' for you. Are you happy? Yes? Great, now place my order for me please." But what's this? There's no "Order" button at the bottom of this order page. Meh is showing me the product I want to buy, my billing address, shipping address, and method of payment. It's even showing me that I'll get this shipped free with my cool VMP membership. But you know what it's NOT showing me? The damned button that will allow me to complete the order. Apparently the button got tired of waiting for the screens to load, too, and went to take a coffee break or something. It's wandered off, nowhere to be found. So, I open a new window, try to place the order again & wait through more green-line loading windows. 15 minutes later I get another order page, prove that I'm not a robot, and press the "order" button which has come back from its coffee break. Hah! The joke's on me though. This order can't be completed because Meh has just sold out of the item. Well-played, Meh, well-played. It's now almost 2am & your psych experiment is complete. I'm exhausted, frustrated, disappointed, and have 4 hours to sleep before I need to get up for work.
@StacieCollado I have to agree with you. Meh fucked up big time on this one. I wanted one of these and stayed up to get it. Waste of time. I don't even know why I bother.
@KamiLotus Oh, I don't think they screwed up & I'm not really complaining....just describing the experience for other people who have "been there" too. It was always the same thing on Woot when trying to get BOCs. The stress & frustration is part of the fun & experience of it. I think it's actually more of an amusement in that the frustration is different each time. Like last time, I got lots of "something went terribly wrong screens." This time, I didn't get that screen too much. The novelty of the frustration this time was the weird block on my log-in ability (and the bizarre absence of the "Buy" button on the order confirmation page). If part of the fun is actually getting the Fukubukuro, then the other part of the fun is the experience of TRYING to get it.
After years of trying to get a bag or crap from woot... after missing out on the first three fukubukuro... i have FINALLY managed to buy a bag of useless junk from a shady internet retailer. God bless America. (was one of the lucky 257 at 12:01 popular-last-humor)

Well, I stayed up though I shouldn't have. Would have kept trying but my computers fan has failed, so too much makes it overheat and turn off. After the computer was done sounding like a rocket taking off and shutting itself off, I decided to give up. @SavvySapphire Maybe spend that 5 bucks on a CPU fan? If it's a laptop try taking a vacuum cleaner to the vents. Desktop, open it up and vacuum, but be careful of static discharge. Taking the desktop outside and blowing out with compressed air is also a good option. Desktop fans are cheap and easy to replace.
@irtravis I thought about it, but my computer is a dinosaur by today's standards. It's 8 years old, running XP and has been having other issues for a while. I'm afraid to try and fix it myself since I'm more likely to blow it up than fix it. I have blown air on it before, it no longer works. The joys of a dinosaur I guess! I'll save up and buy a new computer instead

@Outofmymind Apparently Rubik's cubes are a thing again. My 13-year-old nephew got three of them for Xmas. One was a speed cube that's designed to be as fast as possible. His record is somewhere between 1 and 2 minutes. He also got a 2x2 cube and a cube with no center squares. He spent hours playing with them while we were visiting.

I just don't understand the feeling of entitlement. This is an online store. Buy from them or not. I will keep my VMP and see if it pays off. Remember, this is just another online store trying to turn straw into gold. They are selling us shit for a low price and if they sell out they have done their job and really could give a crap. If stuff keeps selling out I will find the site useless and move on. Don't care either way. The owners probably feel the same way. For every person who leaves, 10 will jump on chasing that dream of buying something that they have no idea what is coming or its value. Its a crazy business model, but it works. Create a social /sales sight, count on social to keep people here as part of a "Community" sell shit and then create more demand for more shit with a big tease of a "Valuable Mystery Item" for 5 dollars. unsafe-substantial-debt, If there is one thing we learned from the other company before they were bought by Amazon is that you sleep or you get a Fukubukuro. There is no doing both.
Is it possible that the people who are complaining about the servers crashing (ignoring the civil war for now) are on meh without ever having been on woot and experiencing attempting to buy a Bottle of Caviar? Servers going down, captcha not working, passwords not being accepted, etc. is all part of the fun. As far as I know, woot never got their servers to a point where they could handle a BOC sale. (Of course I've been off woot for a couple years so things could have changed post-amazon.) Meh is not going to "get their shit together" and make the servers miraculously not crash during a fuku sale. It's not a bug, it's a feature.

Then, I got the protip from another tweeter/meh-r (twitterer? twat?) to check my order status, after an inordinate amount of panic-refresh-panic-refresh-WHY IS IT SO TERRIBLY WRONG. I was one of the lucky few - my 12:02 order had gone through! A very keen-annoying-kettle in my future? East Coaster, no excuses. Waiting patiently for my pallet of sleeves and my fuku. :D
I work overnights, and my shift begins at 12am EST. I completely forgot to check meh when I got to work, remembered around 1am, and made it as far as verifying I wasn't a robot before the site crashed again. It actually makes me happy that people had such problems right from the start, because I likely wouldn't have gotten a fuku even had I remembered to check at midnight. So now I don't feel as sad. I have to say that I was pretty thrilled with catching the fuku #4 a few minutes after the start. The absolute best part was the time I spent with my buddy on IM while we hit refresh and hoped to get it. The anticipation of getting through was at least as good as whatever was in the package. I got lucky and got one, he missed it. I suspect it's because he is one of the people with "poop" in his name... his fault! We'll split the loot... probably...

My Fukubukuro is not the issue here. I should have checked my orders. According to that I got one at 12:02. I didn't think I did and kept refreshing until about 1:45. I could have had another 90 minutes of sleep! Although, come to think of it, I wouldn't have been able to get to my orders.

I too started trying to buy right at midnight and continued for a couple hours and was very excited when I finally got the order page to come up. I was back and forth trying to decide if I would buy as many as I could or just buy 1 so that 2 other ppl would get a chance to get it on it. That was quickly turned to disappointment as upon hitting the order button I was told it was sold out. I then became outraged as I started ready of all these folks that ordered max amounts and then even more angry at MEH for not letting me in on the deal as I have never been able to get a fuku bag. I even started to think that MEH was doing it on purpose to try and allow more late comers into the game but I wrong. Fact is, it's only a $5 mystery bag and getting so angry helps no one.

So the lead up to this Fukubukuro. I had an alarm set at 11:59p and I get the tweet and try to click through to buy and then, my WiFi router craps out on my signal.
So I run to my hard wired Desktop and sit and try over and over for the almost 2 hours to get one. Finally I gave up and went back to bed but not before rebooting the router
Waited 5 mins and thought, Meh! , let's try it again. So from my IPad I try again and got through, and was able to snag one .
So now I wait with a maximum-pristine-gin for it to come my way
Now that the swelling has died down and the bleeding has subsided mostly, it is time to discuss the actual Fuku. I hadn't been gloating over my success to this point to give people time to grieve.
This bag looks very nice, and if it is the bag we receive, it alone is well worth the purchase imo.
Last time the common items appeared to be a leak frog, the handled bag, creepy crawler cups, shot glass and various cable/charger cables. Oh and Texas air.
Given that Texas air and the bag itself are likely. What random things does everyone expect will make up the majority of items. It seems usually the items have not been sold prior, so I am not sure it will be speaker dock or neoprene themed.

Traveling internationally it is tough to keep up with this - now I don't quite understand why there would be such big problems getting in? This is 2015, I have built cloud based solutions that can scale quite well - is meh.com architected so bad that it cannot scale? With a solid architecture simply increase the number of backend instances for the 1-2 hours of peak demand, then go back to less instances... or better - react to measured high demand automatically.

Surprisingly I was one of the lucky 1300 to score one. Never won a bag of crap back in the day and this was my first fukubukuro. Don't even care what I get, this was lots of fun with a nice surprise at the end.
Finally was able to get one at 2am in the morning. Dont understand this est wst thing going on but when you stay up til 9 in the morning every night it doesnt matter which coast youre on. Mehhing forward to getting that package to SC.

So, I got my order to go through at 12:01 - actually it went through twice because of the "I'm not a robot" and the green bar timing out and then I hit the button a second time and then wasn't sure if it went through.
Woke up in the morning and found out it went through twice - I can let you know, that my duplicate order was cancelled and I am only getting one FUKU bag!

@CozzaFrenzy What league are you with? I only played for about a year and a half. I remarried and moved and I couldn't afford to play anymore. Right after I quit was when things started changing as far as slow derby and I was kind of glad I left when it was still fun. I mean, derby is always fun for the players, but it's been kind of sad to see how public perception changed after the changes. I still miss it, though. Congratulations on five seasons. That's a hell of an accomplishment.
@PurplePawprints i spent 4.5 seasons with an awesome league in dayton, oh (gem city roller girls) but moved to philly/south new jersey mid-season last year and retired as a competetive skater with the atlantic coast roller girls... and now im starting this season as the head coach :) both of the leagues ive been affiliated with are filled with awesome girls who just want to have fun and workout and meet new people. but yeah, derby has A LOT of personalities associated with it. fans and skaters, alike.

@gommiebears the 3lbs is a placeholder. (fedex charges by actual weight, not whats entered, so they can type anything..) once it gets picked up and on its way it'll update to correct weight.
My modem goes out, and I've had shotty internet for three days. Of COURSE, one of those days would be a FUKU day. (Also ruined a nice run of MEH clicks, but what can ya do?)
@texthinker hah, my modem went out too, no clue why but maybe 20 minutes before Meh came back up, it crashed and even after re-starting it my modem refused to come back on line. I did manage to grab my first fuku via my cell phone though.
So, apparently I was able to score 1 of these before the server crash. I got all the way to the end but that green bar just kept going and going and going and then finally I got a server timeout error. I kept trying for over an hour til the servers came back up and then it showed Sold Out so I thought I missed it. I logged in to my account yesterday and I see the fuku in my order history even though I never got an email confirmation for it, and it says order was placed at 12:01am ET.
This is my 1st fuku bag and I'm sure I won't be disappointed! can't wait to get it.
Sometimes you eat the crap, sometimes the crap eats you... you get some, you miss some, the servers crash for some. What on EARTH makes you believe that it should be fair?
We mentioned in the bullet points that "It'll take us a little longer to ship these because we're busy packing up those stupid Built NY things" and those are just being finished up today (good riddance), so Fuku has still not begun shipping but should start being packed up tomorrow.
I mentioned this in another post regarding shipping times, but I suggest taking the zen approach of temporary amnesia: order something and immediately forget you ordered it, only to eventually be pleasantly surprised by a Meh package sitting at your door.

Fukus are, at long last, shipping through the end of this week. Don't freak if you don't see tracking right away, though, sometimes it takes a while for the tracking system to update. Think of it like the concept of deferred gratification, or in this case, delayed disappointment.
@derek You guys should sell something called de-expedited shipping, for an extra (lets say $5) you get to choose a day (at least 1 month in the future) that your package gets to ship out!
@er1c heh, nice concept. I'm also fond of the "mail order catalog" option, which is where we don't provide any tracking whatsoever, your package shows up whenever, and you're happy it actually arrived.

Got mine today! I went from really excited to really bummed...a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 was in there but won't turn on or charge:( Also got 4 Kindle neoprene sleeves, Gigs headphones, a meh fuku bag and a used, broken coffee mug. So overall, really meh...unless I can get that tablet working ;)
@kjsieps It worked on the one I got from the last FUKU. Sometimes just trying a different charger is enough...basically the voltage gets too low and the tablet charging system doesn't recognize that a charger is connected. I have had to do it twice now, don't let it discharge all the way.
@tightwad I took it apart, unplugged the battery, plugged it back in, the screen lit for about 2 sec, then nothing. Tried again, same thing. I've had it charged with the Samsung charger that came with it for hours...still nothing. Any other ideas?
@kjsieps If you are wall charging it trickle charge it through usb instead awhile. Known issue and may be yours that if the battery drains ALL the way down only trickle charging it awhile then wall charging will bring it out of sleep/dead state, or a official samsung travel charger works as well it is claimed. Try this first( also search for samsung galaxy tab 3 won't turn on)
@kjsieps The second time mine did it I had to try 5 different chargers until one started working. I was measuring the battery voltage to see if it was charging and when the voltage started increasing I left it plugged into that charger. Also leave the battery unplugged for a minute, holding down the power button to be sure residual voltage is drained.

I’ve always wanted to try noise cancelling headphones, so now I’ll get to try them for free. I have no use for the gaming keyboard, as the last game I played was Samorost (please don’t make fun of me). I used to check the AFP website regularly, but now only check it a few times a year. The book will make a great gift, though. And I can’t believe I got four MORE Built cases, but am grateful that they are not Kindle cases.
Okay left Texas two days ago and is now in Memphis and it still says 3lbs and 10x10x10. Starting to think those numbers are no longer just a place holder in my case.

Most of the people here getting the Built cases in their Fuku got more of a variety of styles / patterns than my lame-I-hate-my-job-and-have-zero-creative-ability picker packed for me in my 30 pack Built purchase. I guess his picking skills were limited strictly to picking his ass.
My reveal will happen here on the 2nd of February at 6pm CST. I expect it will break the internet or maybe just this thread or the hopes and dreams of someone at least.

The noise cancelling feature on the over ear headphones doesn't do much (using this test: ) But the headphones work fine - seem well made.
The Leather case is really nice... goes for about $30 on amazon - (there's a price tag on it that says $149.99 whatevs!!) The hub is junk - water bottle is about $9 on amazon the book will go in the bathroom and the tattoos to the youngins
@unixrab Did you put a battery in the headphones and turn it on? I tested mine sitting next to a humidifier and it cut down the fan noise substantially. I do agree the build quality seems nice and the sound is also quite decent.
@unixrab They seem to work fine at attenuating some of the harmonics between about 250Hz - 500Hz, but I wouldn't expect silence. Did you test with a new battery rather than the one included? I would recommend testing with some kind of fan or even standing near a car engine and see what you get. The mute button makes it quite easy to compare on/off. You can even get left/right comparison if you partially depress the button. I believe most of these NC headphones are designed to attenuate broadband low frequency rumble and may not be as effective with single tone sine waves like in the video.

Finally got a weight update on mine. 20x12x9 in. and 4 lbs Seems a little light compared to everyone else =( Maybe it means I'll get a second box later on with cool stuff or I'm getting really cool, but light things =D I hope it's not more Built NY stuff since I only had a use for 3 of the 30 I got in the other order =P
@homme I was psyching myself up for USPS issues - but they came through. I'm not a big fan of USPS in general, as transporting AND delivering anything on their own seems to be just too much for them. They're great for end delivery, though - unlike UPS, they don't a) decide to leave pkg on the front stoop in the middle of the city, b) don't want to walk all the way from the truck to the stoop and just pretend that nobody's home.

My Fuku has arrived! I have to admit, for me it was entirely non medicocre. @gskellig The trombone is probably used...the case was opened inside the box as pictured (wrapped in a cloth bag and there were some cotton gloves and a cleaning cloth wadded up in a smaller cloth bag bag. There's a small dent on the bell, but other than that, like new. There's no brand, model, or serial number that I was able to find on the instrument itself or the case. Still...pretty excited about it. I'm calling it the fukubukubone.

You guys know I love you...especially after I ended up buying 90 of those cases with no hesitation...but I would have much preferred normal captchas. I got screwed for the first time on a fukubukuro because of that damn checkbox. Got a session timeout 4 times that resulted in not being able to order as it wouldn't check again. Was actually told by the captcha "looks like you're a robot" at which point I was completely locked out. Looks like part of the issue was due to being on LTE instead of wifi at first. Beyond that though, all I can blame is the implementation of that damn checkbox. At least with the jumbled words, if I failed it would have been due to me not being able to decipher them.

I got my order submitted within about 10 seconds of the sale going live. I checked my credit card and saw the preauth long before i got any error message or confirmation from Meh. I logged out of my account and tried to log in with my wife's info. No dice. The servers melted into a puddle. Once Irk and @dave got the new servers put together 2 hours later, I was able to get her account to finally login and nab one. The Fukus were immediately sold out right after that
When you consider it was only on sale for about 2 actual minutes where orders could be submitted, it sold out REALLY fast. Reminded me of the Woot days, but those days never lasted nearly that long.

@giroro And FWIW, my order DID go through at 12:02, meaning I wasted my time more than anybody. So the first fail page lied to me. Must have meant the email confirmation choice page was the one that failed. Fukubukuro should just auto email so people who got it (like me) won't be refreshing pointlessly and clogging up the site because there was no way of knowing it went through.

The goddamn captcha wouldn't reload, kept saying I was a fucking robot. Reloaded the site about sixteen thousand times over an hour and fifty minutes, and the minute the order box worked again I clicked, only to get the non-loading captcha AGAIN. Reloaded one more time to see a sold out sign. What a crock of shit. I had that bitch in my hand, only to have it taken away. God, I'm pissed.
I tried for about an hour with no luck. For some reason my password was getting rejected. Tried resetting it and that link was broken. After that I tried buying it with Amazon but that didn't work either. Now when it is sold out my password works. I wish Meh would get their shit together. Why don't they upgrade their servers so that they can handle all the traffic better? I'm sure they make decent money and can afford it.

Seriously people, do you actually expect them to have over 36k Fuku's to sell? It took nearly two hours for these to sell out. Try to get a BoC, those sell out in seconds. (I gave up around 1:30am, no big deal).
If they could handle that amount of requests at one time, these would be sold out in minutes. The servers being slow actually gives you a fighting chance.

@The_Baron Over two hours was inaccurate. The servers were down for the majority of those two hours, that's the only reason it lasted so long. Once they were back up, it sold out in minutes.

Didn't feel too well yesterday so I tried getting to sleep around 11 and set my alarm for 11:59. It seemed pretty obvious there was a Fuku coming last night. I couldn't sleep in anticipation. Had phone in hand come midnight (east coast bitches!) and refreshed when the midnight hour struck. Guess I was one of the extremely lucky ones as I immediately got the purchase screen. I was really surprised to see the Captcha box but it went through right away. Couldn't fall asleep for another hour after... 5:20 comes really quick. Think I'm feeling sorry for my patients who I get to stick a needle into today, but the sleep deprivation is worth it! 3 for 3 on the post-Kickstarter Fukus!

This is exactly the same situation as the golden age of woot with the BOCs:
1. Item pops up for sale.
2. A small handful of people get it seconds after it's listed.
3. Website slows down to the consistency of frozen mollasses.
4. The 99.999% keep hitting F5 in their dozen windows over and over again.
5. You FINALLY get to the order screen, 15-45 minutes later (in this case, an hour and 50 minutes later.
6. You click on submit.
7. You wait 2-15 minutes to get your confirmation/sold out screen.
8. You got to bed happy because you either got your crap, or saved yourself $5-$10.
Quit being butt-hurt, it's part of the fun.

@hems79 I think the real reason for the pissiness is because we live in an era of such incredible technology yet no one has managed to put together a system that doesn't overload when Fukus or BoC's are offered. It would be different if the system worked but they simply ran out of the offered number of bags. But I guess if someone had figured out a proper server system there wouldn't be any more websites being taken down due to denial of service attacks. They'd all be able to handle the traffic.

Boo that was super dissapointing. Stay up till midnight for no reason other than meh like usual. Finally the Fuku is here. Page loads around 12:02 and I click buy, notice the new captcha, click it and I'm all green. Press buy and watch it chug away. Some minutes later it gives me an error that it didn't go through and resets the captcha, try to click it again and it won't go.
Then an hour of refreshing to no avail. Around 1:15am decide to give up and try to sleep. Still groggy around 2 I try again, and behold they are all gone now.
The mehest of nights. Now to try and act normal all day with barely any sleep. Hey, on the brightside one of these 40 cases might be usable one day.

Looks like I was not the only one to encounter the green bar fiasco of 2015. As many have noted, received the endless green bar then the site timed out. Tried for another hour before checking my order page and seeing that it went through at 12:01! Woohoo!

I woke up at 1:19am EST since my son was crying and then I checked Meh and saw the Fuku still available. I tried logging in for 30 or so minutes with my iPhone, iPad and then finally took out my laptop. I nearly gave up since I couldn't get to login and when I finally did, I couldn't get passed the Captcha. I couldn't take it anymore so I gave up but I hit refreshed 1 more time on my laptop and it finally let me through and I got my 1st Fuku other than the Kickstarter Fuku. I don't know if staying up til 2am was worth it for us East Coasters. Kinda sucks for those East Coasters who tried for 2 hours and got shiet.

My girl and I fell asleep watching a movie. She got me up at 1155 ET (yup east coast) to head upstairs to bed. I was like, I gotta pee. I'll be up in a minute, or 5. I got to meh right at 12, clicked the buy, but never got a confirmation screen it was bought. So while she was sleeping I tried until almost 1 am from our bed with my phone. Finally I said, it's not worth it, put the phone down and went to sleep.
Today, now that the servers have calmed down, I look at my orders and woo hoo, I got one at 12:02. Haha, I tried for an hour and I actually already had one...

I love meh, and I'm not trying to complain, but I think I'm done trying to get fukubukuros in the future. For months, I've been staying up until midnight largely in the hopes of getting one and religiously check when the clock strikes midnight. I was on at 12:00 sharp last night and my wife and I spent nearly an hour trying to buy one, only to have every attempt time out. It was fun while it lasted, but it seems like meh has gotten too big now for me to have any reasonable chance at getting a fukubukuro. I've got to wake up early to take my two young daughters to day care and that extra hour of sleep is looking a lot more appealing than some infinitesimal chance of getting a fukubukuro.

I spent an hour and half, starting at 12 EST sharp trying to get one of these, but Meh has made ordering one of these things into some type of psychological experiment, bordering on cruel and unethical, testing the limits of human patience, stress & frustration. First, Meh had kindly logged me out of my account at 12am sharp, even though I had logged in before 12am. Trying to log-in again with my Meh account was ineffective; Meh apparently had decided that my previously perfectly-fine log-in password was wrong, so trying to place an order through that route was a no-go situation. So began the sisyphean chore of clicking the Buy button, watching the whole order page dim for some reason, then being sent to the log-in page where I was prompted for my Amazon log-in and then re-directed to a never-before-required 2nd page asking me to "confirm" my log-in request. Clicking the "confirm" button did nothing other than create a green-line waiting/loading screen which, of course, never actually loaded. Repeat, repeat, repeat...same thing. As a last ditch attempt, I asked Meh to re-set the password for my Meh account & I was finally able to actually log in. Lo and behold: an order page has magically--somehow--popped up! I'm in! I can't believe it! But wait, Meh's not done with the fun yet. "Are you a robot?" they ask at the bottom of the order page. "Well, no, sirs, I'm surely not. See? I've typed 'efflo' in your little text box to prove it. What? That's wrong & you still think I'm a robot? Okay, let me see the new word you're showing me & I can re-type it in the little text box. Look, now I've typed 'meglil' for you. Are you happy? Yes? Great, now place my order for me please." But what's this? There's no "Order" button at the bottom of this order page. Meh is showing me the product I want to buy, my billing address, shipping address, and method of payment. It's even showing me that I'll get this shipped free with my cool VMP membership. But you know what it's NOT showing me? The damned button that will allow me to complete the order. Apparently the button got tired of waiting for the screens to load, too, and went to take a coffee break or something. It's wandered off, nowhere to be found. So, I open a new window, try to place the order again & wait through more green-line loading windows. 15 minutes later I get another order page, prove that I'm not a robot, and press the "order" button which has come back from its coffee break. Hah! The joke's on me though. This order can't be completed because Meh has just sold out of the item. Well-played, Meh, well-played. It's now almost 2am & your psych experiment is complete. I'm exhausted, frustrated, disappointed, and have 4 hours to sleep before I need to get up for work.

It was always the same thing on Woot when trying to get BOCs. The stress & frustration is part of the fun & experience of it. I think it's actually more of an amusement in that the frustration is different each time. Like last time, I got lots of "something went terribly wrong screens." This time, I didn't get that screen too much. The novelty of the frustration this time was the weird block on my log-in ability (and the bizarre absence of the "Buy" button on the order confirmation page). If part of the fun is actually getting the Fukubukuro, then the other part of the fun is the experience of TRYING to get it.

@SavvySapphire Maybe spend that 5 bucks on a CPU fan? If it's a laptop try taking a vacuum cleaner to the vents. Desktop, open it up and vacuum, but be careful of static discharge. Taking the desktop outside and blowing out with compressed air is also a good option. Desktop fans are cheap and easy to replace.
@irtravis I thought about it, but my computer is a dinosaur by today's standards. It's 8 years old, running XP and has been having other issues for a while. I'm afraid to try and fix it myself since I'm more likely to blow it up than fix it. I have blown air on it before, it no longer works. The joys of a dinosaur I guess! Is it possible that the people who are complaining about the servers crashing (ignoring the civil war for now) are on meh without ever having been on woot and experiencing attempting to buy a Bottle of Caviar? Servers going down, captcha not working, passwords not being accepted, etc. is all part of the fun. As far as I know, woot never got their servers to a point where they could handle a BOC sale. (Of course I've been off woot for a couple years so things could have changed post-amazon.) Meh is not going to "get their shit together" and make the servers miraculously not crash during a fuku sale. It's not a bug, it's a feature.

I was one of the lucky few - my 12:02 order had gone through! A very keen-annoying-kettle in my future? East Coaster, no excuses. Waiting patiently for my pallet of sleeves and my fuku. :D

I too started trying to buy right at midnight and continued for a couple hours and was very excited when I finally got the order page to come up. I was back and forth trying to decide if I would buy as many as I could or just buy 1 so that 2 other ppl would get a chance to get it on it. That was quickly turned to disappointment as upon hitting the order button I was told it was sold out. I then became outraged as I started ready of all these folks that ordered max amounts and then even more angry at MEH for not letting me in on the deal as I have never been able to get a fuku bag. I even started to think that MEH was doing it on purpose to try and allow more late comers into the game but I wrong. Fact is, it's only a $5 mystery bag and getting so angry helps no one.

So the lead up to this Fukubukuro. I had an alarm set at 11:59p and I get the tweet and try to click through to buy and then, my WiFi router craps out on my signal.
So I run to my hard wired Desktop and sit and try over and over for the almost 2 hours to get one. Finally I gave up and went back to bed but not before rebooting the router
Waited 5 mins and thought, Meh! , let's try it again. So from my IPad I try again and got through, and was able to snag one .
So now I wait with a maximum-pristine-gin for it to come my way
Now that the swelling has died down and the bleeding has subsided mostly, it is time to discuss the actual Fuku. I hadn't been gloating over my success to this point to give people time to grieve.
This bag looks very nice, and if it is the bag we receive, it alone is well worth the purchase imo.
Last time the common items appeared to be a leak frog, the handled bag, creepy crawler cups, shot glass and various cable/charger cables. Oh and Texas air.
Given that Texas air and the bag itself are likely. What random things does everyone expect will make up the majority of items. It seems usually the items have not been sold prior, so I am not sure it will be speaker dock or neoprene themed.

Traveling internationally it is tough to keep up with this - now I don't quite understand why there would be such big problems getting in? This is 2015, I have built cloud based solutions that can scale quite well - is meh.com architected so bad that it cannot scale? With a solid architecture simply increase the number of backend instances for the 1-2 hours of peak demand, then go back to less instances... or better - react to measured high demand automatically.

Right after I quit was when things started changing as far as slow derby and I was kind of glad I left when it was still fun. I mean, derby is always fun for the players, but it's been kind of sad to see how public perception changed after the changes. I still miss it, though. Congratulations on five seasons. That's a hell of an accomplishment.

@texthinker hah, my modem went out too, no clue why but maybe 20 minutes before Meh came back up, it crashed and even after re-starting it my modem refused to come back on line. I did manage to grab my first fuku via my cell phone though.
So, apparently I was able to score 1 of these before the server crash. I got all the way to the end but that green bar just kept going and going and going and then finally I got a server timeout error. I kept trying for over an hour til the servers came back up and then it showed Sold Out so I thought I missed it. I logged in to my account yesterday and I see the fuku in my order history even though I never got an email confirmation for it, and it says order was placed at 12:01am ET.

We mentioned in the bullet points that "It'll take us a little longer to ship these because we're busy packing up those stupid Built NY things" and those are just being finished up today (good riddance), so Fuku has still not begun shipping but should start being packed up tomorrow.
I mentioned this in another post regarding shipping times, but I suggest taking the zen approach of temporary amnesia: order something and immediately forget you ordered it, only to eventually be pleasantly surprised by a Meh package sitting at your door.

Fukus are, at long last, shipping through the end of this week. Don't freak if you don't see tracking right away, though, sometimes it takes a while for the tracking system to update. Think of it like the concept of deferred gratification, or in this case, delayed disappointment.

Got mine today! I went from really excited to really bummed...a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 was in there but won't turn on or charge:( Also got 4 Kindle neoprene sleeves, Gigs headphones, a meh fuku bag and a used, broken coffee mug. So overall, really meh...unless I can get that tablet working ;)
@kjsieps You will need to open the case, disconnect the battery for a few seconds, reconnect and bam! Should be able to charge! If not, send it to me!

@kjsieps It worked on the one I got from the last FUKU. Sometimes just trying a different charger is enough...basically the voltage gets too low and the tablet charging system doesn't recognize that a charger is connected. I have had to do it twice now, don't let it discharge all the way.
@kjsieps I'd kill for that haul. I expect mine will have diapers or some crap in it. In fact, where do you live?
@tightwad I took it apart, unplugged the battery, plugged it back in, the screen lit for about 2 sec, then nothing. Tried again, same thing. I've had it charged with the Samsung charger that came with it for hours...still nothing. Any other ideas?
@kjsieps I've heard internet rumors that if you contact Samsung, they might fix it under warranty. Never tried it myself.... Good Luck!
@kjsieps If you are wall charging it trickle charge it through usb instead awhile. Known issue and may be yours that if the battery drains ALL the way down only trickle charging it awhile then wall charging will bring it out of sleep/dead state, or a official samsung travel charger works as well it is claimed. Try this first( also search for samsung galaxy tab 3 won't turn on)
@kjsieps The second time mine did it I had to try 5 different chargers until one started working. I was measuring the battery voltage to see if it was charging and when the voltage started increasing I left it plugged into that charger. Also leave the battery unplugged for a minute, holding down the power button to be sure residual voltage is drained.

The book will make a great gift, though. And I can’t believe I got four MORE Built cases, but am grateful that they are not Kindle cases.

The noise cancelling feature on the over ear headphones doesn't do much (using this test: ) But the headphones work fine - seem well made.
The Leather case is really nice... goes for about $30 on amazon - (there's a price tag on it that says $149.99 whatevs!!) The hub is junk - water bottle is about $9 on amazon

@unixrab Did you put a battery in the headphones and turn it on? I tested mine sitting next to a humidifier and it cut down the fan noise substantially. I do agree the build quality seems nice and the sound is also quite decent.
@kuoh hmm... Yes. I did put a battery in it and flip the switch to "on" - how does your pair do with the video above?
@unixrab They seem to work fine at attenuating some of the harmonics between about 250Hz - 500Hz, but I wouldn't expect silence. Did you test with a new battery rather than the one included? I would recommend testing with some kind of fan or even standing near a car engine and see what you get. The mute button makes it quite easy to compare on/off. You can even get left/right comparison if you partially depress the button. I believe most of these NC headphones are designed to attenuate broadband low frequency rumble and may not be as effective with single tone sine waves like in the video.

@homme I was psyching myself up for USPS issues - but they came through. I'm not a big fan of USPS in general, as transporting AND delivering anything on their own seems to be just too much for them. They're great for end delivery, though - unlike UPS, they don't a) decide to leave pkg on the front stoop in the middle of the city, b) don't want to walk all the way from the truck to the stoop and just pretend that nobody's home.
@jakbrooklyn yeah I agree, just kind of sucks that I was scheduled for today and then last night got bumped a day because of the handoff. Especially when the FedEx facility is about 15 minutes away from me. Oh well lol

My Fuku has arrived! I have to admit, for me it was entirely non medicocre. Very funny joke though sending me a knife, I cant tell if you did it on purpose after I said I was lible to kill or maim myself with the saw from the tool set. @gskellig The trombone is probably used...the case was opened inside the box as pictured (wrapped in a cloth bag and there were some cotton gloves and a cleaning cloth wadded up in a smaller cloth bag bag. There's a small dent on the bell, but other than that, like new. There's no brand, model, or serial number that I was able to find on the instrument itself or the case. Still...pretty excited about it. I'm calling it the fukubukubone.
@potestasx i actually need a trombone...just paid $150 to get. a dent like that out of my daughters...she marches but only has the one good trombone...could use a marching one. wanna trade?

The headlamp appears to be hand crank powered, but doesn't illuminate after cranking for a minute in both directions.
I was apparently not patient enough, that combined with the fact that the button does not depress very consistently led me to believe that it was not working. Anyway, great Fukubukuro from start to finish.

i took apart the craigs smart tv stick, beat some aluminum together to make a heatsink, used some thermal adhesive glue i had laying around. i then flashed it with a real version of android (play store etc) much better device after that!
thanks for the excitement meh! it made work go slow as a motherfucker, and i had to keep telling my wife repeatedly to please not open it until i get home. she fucking opened the last fuku and sent me pics! devil woman.

One of the springs that hold the batteries in literally fell off when I popped the battery out. :/ This woulda been useful.
Just got my FU bag, and I have to say I am pretty disappointed. All I got was a bunch of tweezers and nail clippers, a hubman, a petometer, a neoprene sleeve, and a dumb $550 surveillance dvr. Who needs one of those!? Seriously, this was an awesome deal, and I will have to check meh at exactly midnight every night from now on. Thanks meh!!
