@benj The 5 days isn’t carved in stone. Policy is that the pallet stays on the docking bay until a supervisor stubs his toe on the thing, then it gets loaded and shipped.
Did you not see the news article? They’re now using more environmentally friendly renewable sources of transport. I’m guessing you may have gotten the new carrier tortoise.
As someone who works in shipping for a major company, the pandemic is still affecting shipping. It sucks to be screamed at by cuatomers when there is literally nothing that can be done. I can personally say that FedEx has gone down hilll since Christmas of 2019 (the delays oh my god the delays) and 2020 sure as hell did not help.
Over the years that I have dealt personally and professionally with shipping companies, one thing I have noticed is that they carrier that works the best in one part of the country may not be the same as in another part. In addition this varies often year to year.
This is based a lot on personnel - drivers and manager - in the regional and local offices.
I can remember when Fed-Ex would be late on paychecks with no reason and never be able to find out what happened. We had previously used a carrier that was bought out by DHL. This previous carrier (not DHL) was absolutely never late.
Here, in the large apartment complex I live in, it depends a lot on whether it is the regular driver on the route or not. Substitute ones often leave stuff in front of garage doors (UPS) or claim no one was home to let them in (there is a code for each major carrier) (this was Fed-Ex).
I really believe it is a crap shoot at all the various stages on the route. And that like in any business, some don’t give a fuck
Good luck! My last package that stopped at Bloomington, CA spent 5 days there!
@benj That must be the fedex equivalent of the Pitney butthead’s Greenwood, IN

Wow, more people whose items spend time in Bloomington CA
More packages there than people, ya know.
Grin
judging by the first couple time stamps, compared to mine, are those the Libratone headphones/earbuds?
not to brag, but…
yeah… ordered on Thursday, Shipped Friday, delivered Monday…I swear that has to be a record of some sort…
@earlyre Yep, the headphones.
I can see that it must be your fault. Since yours arrived so early, they had to delay mine to keep their average delivery time on track.
@blaineg ¯_(ツ)_/¯
@blaineg not that it should matter, but mine was the earbuds…

@communist With good reason.

And then there’s OnTrac who’s fond of marking shipments as “delivered” days before the actual date of delivery.
This screen cap was taken Saturday afternoon, May 22nd:
It finally arrived yesterday, the 24th. It was only stored in Bloomington for two days.
But on what planet is the fastest way from Las Vegas to Salt Lake via California?
@blaineg
/8ball Is it Earth?
Cannot predict now
