Monet. …or is it Manet? Matisse? Manicotti!? No, that’s pasta. I like pasta but it does not compose music well. My sister had a great recipe for manicotti primavera. Fresh veggies and just a bit of brandy in the sauce. Wish I had gotten a copy from her. Now don’t get me wrong; I ain’t no slouch when it comes to pasta dishes. It’s just that my specialty is more toward the creamy sauces. I still like a red with the creamy sauces; cuts through the mouthfeel and gives your tongue a break. Never been fond of whites anyway. I could never tell which were dry–what I prefer–and which were sweet. Ick.
@mossygreen Have you heard of rg_bunny1? I finally got on Instagram, after only checking it out as a lurker, so I could see his (their?) account. I only follow 5 people.
rg-b1 posts really marvelous images - paintings, photos, some videos. Evidently their identity is a mystery. @F00l, seems like you’d be intrigued by it too.
@f00l@mossygreen Did you follow this account? I can’t see it anymore, but don’t know if it’s been deleted, or if I’ve been blocked. I’m new to Instagram, so not familiar with the way it works. But it looks to me like the account is just gone!
@f00l@Kyeh Oh wow, it seems like only yesterday I was liking pictures of pretty Robert Mapplethorpe and now there’s nothing. I opened the page in incognito, and there’s nothing, so I think it’s gone.
Favorite? Dunno, there were/are so many talented ones. But I gotta give props to Michelangelo, great work, especially what he did up in the air, lying on his back: sistine chapel
It largely depends on how heavy the anchor is. If the windlass holds tight, the painter can be much lighter than the rode, unless heavy seas are expected.
Cool! I have a print of this and know exactly where this scene is in the French Quarter. I could kick myself for not buying his work when he sold it on the walls of local pizza joints and bars back in the 80s.
Actually the guy who painted the rooms in my house when we first got it. He was clean, neat, reasonably priced! Unfortunately he was on the old side and would be in his 90’s now. Oh well, we painted before and we can paint again.
Van Gogh is my second.
Escher.
Terry Redlin
Bob Ross is runner-up
Michelangelo, Raphael, Donatello, and Leonardo

Ed, the guy who did the fascia and soffit on my last place in about an hour and a half start to finish.
@werehatrack The guy who did all the interior finishes of my house was top-notch. The cherry on top: his last name is Painter.
Edward Hopper

…what were we talking about?
@SpyreFox
I believe the subject was cake decorating, or something like that.
@SpyreFox
That manicotti primavera sounds amazing, you need to get that recipe and share it with me.

@f00l @Kyeh Hmm, set to private and followed by the late Duggie Fields, interesting… I’ll check it out. Thanks!
@f00l @mossygreen
I found the article where I first heard of him:
https://www.nytimes.com/2021/07/01/style/social-media-instagram-who-is-rgbunny1-everyone-speculates-nobody-knows.html
@f00l @Kyeh Apparently I have read my monthly quota of NY Times articles and must wait for next year. The good news is that’s less than two weeks away!
@mossygreen Incognito and VPNs are your friends. I simply don’t read NYT articles to start with.

I’ve always been very impressionistic, hence Claud Monet is the master of atmosphere and light in my book.
Certainly yes, I like painters, thanks for asking!

@cf1 I love Sargent too, especially this paiting!
