Made me think, I don’t even remember what was the last Mother’s day gift I got her, sixteen years ago. Most likely, took her and my dad out to eat, with my wife and son also.
@cengland0@phendrick Mine also, but often I’ll look around and see if someone’s being a good mother and get something for her. No one said it had to be your mom.
@tinamarie1974 Maybe those tickets will get them a closed-circuit broadcast (oops, that’s antiquated and should be on the other thread, it’d be a PPV show now) of the performers coming from their own living rooms.
@haydesigner yeah I am not hopeful, nor do I want or want my parents to got to a stadium full of people any time soon. Just wish MLB, NHL and these concerts would finally give in and process refunds.
The wife flat out told me she wants a mother’s ring. (She kind of had to because we don’t typically do anything for these days beyond like flowers [for her]). The only reason why I have not done so already is because I’ve had no idea what size to get.
I explained this to her and she printed a ring size guide. We’ll see how useful it is…
@jst1ofknd@RiotDemon I had to read that twice – at first I thought you meant putting his wife on the scale to see if she was keeping the same size through the quarantine.
@jst1ofknd Would it be prudent to let her help pick it out since you don’t usually do things like this? Maybe tell her you want to have her look at rings you have found online to get an idea of what she likes before you pick? Or will she be happy with anything you choose and the important thing is that you chose it for her?
I’ve been gifting all my love and lots of hugs & kisses to my mom for years now. It’s just the right size, never to expensive and always needed! What else would be appropriate for the woman who’s got everything?
Btw; IF you’re interested in sending a early mother’s day gift or just a little pick me up, over @ www.groupon.com they’re having a few awesome deals on flowers! (several options) Enjoy and please don’t hurt yourself rushing over there! Peace love and smiles as usual!
Our normal mother’s day routine is for the family to bring food to my mother’s house for a barbecue while doing a list of chores for her like planting flowers, putting in window air conditioner, fixing things. Since I live down the street, I am the only one who has seen her face to mask so I help her and do her shopping regularly. For Mother’s Day I’ll bake her whichever dessert she chooses. But thanks for the reminder, I’ll talk to the others about how we can do her job list without contact.
My mother and my wife’s mother have passed away and my wife, several decades ago after our son was born, reminded me more than once that I am not HER mother so I should not get her a gift. We were married on a Mother’s Day (not for any special reason, it was just a convenient date in May) and her birthday is near the end of the month, so there are 2 other gift opportunities.
My mother gets the same thing every year. 2 pounds of dark chocolate wintergreen creams from her favorite chocolate store. They have to ship it across the country but it’s worth it.
I’m restoring a pair of photos of my grandparents that I’ve come across while archiving their old albums (Grandma passed away in January). I’ll get a nice frame for them when I’m done.
Mom died long time ago. This option missing from list.
@cengland0 Same here.

@cengland0 Mine’s been gone for five years, and we lost my mother-in-law last fall, so … ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Purchased mothers day and fathers day gifts MONTHS ago … however they are baseball tix, ssoooooo
@tinamarie1974 For next year, or much later this year, I hope.
@phendrick
Got them concert tickets for their upcoming anniversary. I am batting 1,000

@tinamarie1974, pretty much assured that there’s going to be no pro sports for the rest of 2020 (at least)… well, not with a crowded stadium, anyway.
@phendrick its OK I am old enough to know what closed circuits means
@haydesigner yeah I am not hopeful, nor do I want or want my parents to got to a stadium full of people any time soon. Just wish MLB, NHL and these concerts would finally give in and process refunds.
I’m making a crochet shawl for my mom. No idea for my mother in law though. Hoping that the social distancing will excuse us from gift-giving.
@LaserEyes here’s hoping. Mom is currently living with me, so I won’t have that excuse.
We’ve still got time! Wait, Meh was actually useful? This is gonna be a weird day.

@jst1ofknd as long as you check the scale after printing they work fine.

@Kidsandliz
She likes surprises. The problem is I am not a surprising person.
I’ll do the best I can
Sent my mom a Switch Lite to entertain her while trapped in the house.
I ordered earrings and some stationery. Neither is here yet.
A mask with carbon filters, printed with a flower pattern. Nothing says LOVE like “Please Don’t Die”.
@hchavers
You’re SO right!!
Why do you think I bought the scarves from here last week.
Toilet papers and Lysol wipes.

POPSOCKETS! SPROCKETS! DAVY CROCKETT! AWESOME!

@callow All that sounds like the best you can give her and, of course, she really loves it.

I’m thinking about getting her an iPad so it makes Facetime easier for her so I’m on the lookout for cheap used ones.
Nah, she drank herself to death about ten years ago.
My dad died the day before mother’s day, 1987. That mother’s day was on the 10th.
Does not apply.

Mom is in lockdown/isolation.
For the virus. Not for breaking the law or anything like that.
Aside from that, her favorite gift from me is doing odd jobs and fixing stuff.
My mom died not long ago… my mom-of-my-heart hates the holiday… so i am free from now on.
