@Plasketify It’s a solid knife for a good price. It’s not going to get you knife geek points, but it’s notably better than the normal ones that Meh sells.
@thekiltedwonder I second this. It won’t get you any nods in the knife crowd, and it’s fairly par for the edc guys (maybe a little below depends on what you do and if you mind the weight).
As far as the knife goes, it looks solid and should be fairly good from what I’ve heard. Definitely better than most of what meh has sold so far, but still.
@RedOx I have a CRKT Pazoda from Woot circa 2012 and it’s still buttery smooth. It will open with a light flick of the wrist while holding onto the blade. I can’t speak to the bearings on the GSD but CRKT makes nice, lasting products in my opinion.
Its a darn good knife gosh dang it, but somehow $28 feels like too much money to spend on a knife. Do you know how many Pumpkin Spice Lattes you could buy for that? Like six or seven. I think I’d only be willing to spend five pumpkin spice lattes on a knife
For you non-metallurgical geeks… AUS-8 is on the bottom end of “decent” knife steel (according to knife geeks). VG-10 is only slightly pricier and much better (just as corrosion resistant, easy to sharpen and holds an edge well).
Then you get into the really spendy metals like CPM-10V which cost about 5 times as much as VG-10. It holds an edge much better than VG-10 (far, far better than AUS-8), but is harder to sharpen when it finally dulls.
@thekiltedwonder I was just about to post about how I feel that AUS-8 has the perfect balance of edge retention and ease of sharpening. I’ll have to look into VG-10, I only know of AUS-8 because I noticed a couple of my knives were a lot easier to sharpen than my others, and when I checked the blade material both were AUS-8
@thekiltedwonder where does this fall compared to 8Cr13MoV? I really love my Kershaw EMT I got here a long time ago, and all the other 7-8 Kershaw I’ve also thrown money at. But I’m somehow interest in Han-Solo’s Wedding Cake Knife.
@michaelahess I’d say they are about a half step apart. A well made 8Cr13MoV knife will be as good as (or possibly better than) a poorly made AUS-8 knife. A good AUS-8 knife will be notably better than a poor 8Cr13MoV knife.
Really they are close enough that some people prefer 8Cr13MoV, but I think the AUS-8 is a definite improvement.
@sixsmith I carry a Spyderco Manbug FRN Plain Edge in VG-10 every day. I beat the heck out of it and only rarely need to sharpen it. At $41 on Amazon, I think it’s a phenomenal deal. For $75, the Delica 4 is a great knife too, if you want a full size knife.
I’ve been waiting for Meh to have a good deal on a VG-10 knife. I won’t hesitate if/when they do.
I like knives but this one, though pretty, does not look to be for me. Flipper, which I do not like, plus looks too small to be functional. Way too heavy for its size. Looks like it would be too slippery for real work.
@slp50 that comparison almost blew it for me. I despise Apple, Inc and anything they sell. Grossly overpriced, overrated, and over hyped products clad in shiny-shiny.
Always tempted by knives. Have to pass this one up, however. Meh should always list the origin country for knives because it is important to those of us that have already invested heavily in more knives than any one person could ever need. This knife is made in Taiwan. I will only waste my money on made in the USA knives.
@kalama3 I understand your sentiment but there is one USA company which exhibits an odd exception to the normal “America makes better” rule. If you check out most Spyderco offerings, they give their Taichung facility the lion’s share of the high-end projects. This put me off for a little while as well, but once you admire the fit and finish of any knife produced in that factory, you’ll quickly realize that someone’s doing something right in Taiwan. Check out the Spyderco catalog - Taiwanese made fetch the highest price tags. So in my opinion, (as far as Spyderco’s are concerned), here is the order in terms of factory production output quality (there are exceptions, of course):
HaHaHaHa. A knife. But seriously. Looking at it, I’d definitely hold someone up in a dark alley, demanding they hand over their CRKT. It’s definitely a bad-ass looking knife. On these hot looking knives, could we have gif’s or vids showing how they open up? I can’t keep up with all those code words…‘instant release’…I don’t even know the half dozen or so. Please Mr. Meh, help us pure white trash peoples out. I know you got a “Thug Lyfe” tattoo somewhere. This really looks like it would open up fast, with a flick of the wrist.
"When you’re a Jet, you’re a jet all the way, from your first cigarette…"
This is hot looking, I don’t know if it has a half dozen ‘safety’ features or not. I’m hoping it doesn’t.
@wew the guys on youtube LOVE this. These sell out quick on ebay, and the word on these seems to be “smooth action”. I’ve got no monies, but I don’t think you can go wrong with this. Good night, and for those that found these, Merry Christmas".
With a knife enthusiast brother, a husband who lost his good knife, and a brother in law who also is a knife enthusiast I am in for 3 for Christmas. /image curt-proficient-hose
I’ve been carrying around my 2-for-Tuesday Remington Skeleton Folding Knife for a week and still haven’t had any legit use for it. I mean, I sharpened a wooden pencil. That’s about it.
I get more use out of my Leatherman multitool. And even that, it’s mainly trimming nails with the mini scissors. Once in a great while tightening screws on my glasses.
I guess what I’m saying is I love the idea of buying a really nice knife for cheap but I don’t exactly live a knife-intensive life.
Seeing this, then going to the CRKT website and having a look sold me. This is a great buy on a very good knife. I know some of y’all say that it’s too heavy, but I’m a big guy with huge hands, so I like a knife with some heft to it.
/buy
Instead of buying 10 of these, forgetting I’m carrying them, and gradually losing them to airport security checkpoint confiscations, I’ll just ask you to ship them directly to the TSA for me. Truth is, in my life getting shit done rarely involves cutting anything.
Got mine today, really nice knife for the price! Super sharp, very substantial, overall high quality. Very slightly off center, no big deal. Flipper action a little tight, will probably break in with use; just how the Donald likes it, grab it and work it! Meow
Just got mine.
Feels like a premium knife. But I’m finding it a lot more difficult to open the blade than all of my other knives. Once started the blade flips open quickly and smoothly. But the way the blade rests in the closed position feels like there is excessive resistance keeping it closed.
I hope with time it will get easier, or my finger tips get stronger, otherwise I will be reaching out to CRKT for some help.
Got mine, also finding the frame lock insanely tight and hard to open. As my high school science teacher was fond of saying, “she’s a virgin, you gotta force it”.
Got mine today and I agree with the others that it is hard to open. It feels to me like a magnet holds it closed, and it is hard to overcome that force with the little lever on the back. Other than that it is a good looking solid feeling knife.
Okay, I jammed a bunch of plastic picks into the frame and left it this way overnight and it’s a little easier to open now. I might leave them in another day or two.
The knife I received is defective. The release plate That allows the blade to open and close is improperly positioned inside the knife. Have you received similar complaints? Given the price, I am wondering if the manufacturer dumped a defective lot on you, in which case I think you would want to have a word with them.
I intend to return it under warranty to the manufacturer, unless you have an easier solution. I would appreciate hearing from you. Thank you.
Careless me-I thought I was communicating with meh, not posting a comment. Please delete my contact information from the post above. And reviewing other comments, I think you were dumped on by the manufacture
My knife also requires much more force to flip open than any other knife I own - this seems to be a product defect more than a “Break-In Period” issue.

I’m in for one. Don’t know why.
@Nexar you’re in for one for the same reason I am. It’s got a cool name (and, for me anyway, I like CRKT)
@Plasketify nobody in the comments mentioned it’s using ikbs. Basically little uncaged ball bearings. Makes for smooth opening. I got one.
$28? meh
Dirty knife eh Meh ? Say “crappy” knife ?
Can I return it for a full refund if I can’t actually get anything done with it?
/giphy alternative-flowery-fish
I have a toilet mug too!
@looseneck That’s the shits!
Sharp looking, but is it really a cut above the rest? -meh
This deal is on the cutting edge of no way, no matter how you slice and dice it.
$28 for a knife? Meh. and Meh again.
@Aractor Yeahhh, looks generic and I can’t really figure out what makes it “worth” this price over any other knife of the same type.
Pretty and a nice size, but expensive and looks slippery.
Is it spring assisted or is dude just that good at flicking it open?
Edit: per googles, no assist. meh

@michaelahess is there a point to the hole in the knife? Just curious.
@hmclynch87 thats their version of the thumb stud. its how you open it

Should call it Gets Shit Done Poorly.
“like if a MacBook was knife”. Mac The Knife.
@slp50 that comparison almost blew it for me. I despise Apple, Inc and anything they sell. Grossly overpriced, overrated, and over hyped products clad in shiny-shiny.
@slp50 it made me think of this guy
I’m liking the CRKT knives.
If the price was just a bit lower, I’d grab 3.
I used to think that meh.com had ^^ this all figured out.
This is a really nice knife for the price, especially for this price. Probably better knife than the Ken Onion Mr Hanky knife, previously sold here…
@robson Turdley D. Nife is awesome!

@kalama3 Agree.
Looks like a really nice knife, but this week’s knife budget only supports $15-20 max since that VMP “stuff” is currently turned off.
Nice review of AUS-8 steel.
TLDR; AUS-8 is Japanese steel similar to US made 440B or 440C (depending on heat treatment.)
Cutco/Ka-Bar, for comparison, frequently uses 440A steel, which has slightly lower carbon content (a little softer) but you can’t buy them for $28.
It may not be SOG, but CRKT makes pretty good knives.

It’s my birthday week. This is a nice knife for a good price, lots of good reviews throughout the interline.

If you’re wondering what’s the rub with this knife, it’s stupid-heavy. Most knives this size run below four ounces, this one is almost six.
$49.99 on Amazon. $99.99 on CRKT web site and it is heavy but hey if you want to get shit done get a knife that gets shit done
I don’t always get shit done.
But when I do, it will be with this CRKT knife.
I’ve been carrying around my 2-for-Tuesday Remington Skeleton Folding Knife for a week and still haven’t had any legit use for it. I mean, I sharpened a wooden pencil. That’s about it.

Used the $7 refund from the KERSHAW FUNXION EMT KNIFE debacle to make this an even better deal!
Can you please do another Bubba Meh? I don’t need to get shit done, I need to get shit DRANK.
I lost my little Kershaw folder, this will be a good replacement for it.

@awk wow. Your science teacher is an idiot. Force is not necessary. Time and patience is.
@awk @RiotDemon - either way you’re gonna need lots of lube.
Got mine today and I agree with the others that it is hard to open. It feels to me like a magnet holds it closed, and it is hard to overcome that force with the little lever on the back. Other than that it is a good looking solid feeling knife.
Same here, near impossible to open, tried loosening the pivot, didn’t help at all, thinking it may be an issue with the detente or the lock bar.
i feel a weekend mini-project in the making
I cannot get this freaking thing to open. Looks great, but is kinda useless…
Okay, I jammed a bunch of plastic picks into the frame and left it this way overnight and it’s a little easier to open now. I might leave them in another day or two.
I love this knife! If it would open! I finally got mine open and it looks like tiny ball bearings have fallen out. Help me Meh!
