@zen If you want to burn your eyeballs you should have gotten the Circadian Optics Leo UV-Free Full Spectrum LED Therapy Lights. Seems like that might burn out a retina or two.
@blaineg@Kyeh@robson My guess is the bot is extraterrestrial (English is close enough ), although it might simply be that it isn’t a fan of bugs, just nightmarish dog-like beings.
@yougotrossed No. No one is even opening their eyes with this thing on, much less that. (Source: Own one, here to buy one for a pal. Freakin’ brilliant for eyestrain and sinus aches.)
I have hideous migraines all the time, and I’m tempted to pull the trigger on this, but you have no idea how much snake oil stuff I’ve spent money on trying to fix things.
Is it safe for children. Secondly, I am intrigued by the heat function and might use it instead of a heating pad for relieving eye stye? Are the active contact points disinfectable?
@MINUANO68 for eye stye, if you don’t know, try used black tea bags over your eyes. The tannins in the black tea create a hostile environment for bacteria, inhibiting growth. If the tea bags are warm, it is also soothing.
It’s been years since I’ve had a stye, but I have had the black tea bag trick work better than the drops prescribed by my doctor.
Have a sharper image version and the music is annoying and cannot be turned off, only lower the volume to its lowest setting which is still very much apparent, to me at least. Anyone know it’s music can be fully turned off on this one?
On the Walmart link, 3 out of 4 reviews rated it one star, had very positive things to say about it, but all described what I can only imagine in some sort of lumbar massager.

Dear Meh,
This thing is terrible. It’s very hard and that “ massage” gives me more wrinkles stretching thin skin under my eyes. Absolutely not what promised. Can I please, return it?
Thank you,
Svetlana

Does this massage all heads?
@yakkoTDI Sure, as long as they are 5" or more in diameter.
@yakkoTDI That must be what “hard” mode is for.
@yakkoTDI It massages to completion in “hard” mode, then it goes into “soft” mode, then sleep mode…
Will this burn my eyeballs? Been looking for that

I don’t think I’ve ever seen an Electronic Temple.
@heartny
@heartny It stays in Vegas.
@heartny I think you may be overlooking the Apple Store.
They should make an acupuncture model that shoots hot needles into your face.
@awk
@awk @ircon96 ELLIOTT!!!
Really missed the superior “Will it make margaritas? No, but it help with a morning after many.”
Cool. A little massage while driving to work just might do the trick.
I have the Sharper Image version of this, that I think I bought here like 3 years ago. It’s wonderful, especially if you get headaches or eye fatigue.
I use a heating pad with a back massager duct taped to my head. This is much nicer.
@bugger Duct tape can fix anythang!
@bugger @hchavers That & Windex, the ultimate cure-alls.
@bugger @hchavers
@ircon96 I’m a great fan of Oxiclean myself.
@bugger @hchavers @Kyeh But can OxiClean cure psoriasis & poison ivy?
Cricket bark?
/showme cricket bark
W…T…F…??
@ircon96 you beat me to it… ? WTF indeed
@ircon96
A bug/dog/pocket knife?!?!
@robson @Kyeh Yeah, the bot is losing it.
@ircon96 @Kyeh @robson Cricket bat tail? Is the bot English?
@blaineg @ircon96 @robson
Oh, cricket bat, of course.
Still super weird!
@blaineg @Kyeh @robson My guess is the bot is extraterrestrial (English is close enough ), although it might simply be that it isn’t a fan of bugs, just nightmarish dog-like beings.
Oh look, a knock-off Oculus.

@missag I was kidding (because of how it looks). I know what it is. Lol.

In all seriousness, this is exactly why I come to Meh, for goofy yet interesting shit like this!

Where are the instructions to mount this accessory to my Meta/Oculus Quest VR headset?
I have hideous migraines all the time, and I’m tempted to pull the trigger on this, but you have no idea how much snake oil stuff I’ve spent money on trying to fix things.
@sandirobertson
Same. But if I don’t keep buying stuff I’ll waste my free shipping subscription.

@MINUANO68 from the pictures it looks like it is fabric on the inside

Lousy resolution.

@sportykev https://manualmachine.com/sharperimage/smg2002/2566490-user-manual/ here’s the user manual for that item. I thought you could press the play/pause to turn off the music.

@wickhameh they were reviews for the seller. The item itself has no reviews on Walmart
@kdominique That makes sense.
I’m still holding out for Lumber Lew.

Got one of these for ladycwabs last year and she frickin’ loves it. Sketchy medical claims aside, it feels really good.
I have one with Bluetooth audio, and it still makes no sense. Also it’s really useless if you have glaucoma.
Logged all the way in just to say that today’s product promo blurb truly spoke to me. This “new normal” is terrible and so is adulthood generally.
/“wait, regret not buying, and hope it shows up in a future mehrathon for the same price or even cheaper”
