@awk I don’t understand where you are supposed to put these lights? Do you mount them on the ceiling, place them on the floor, or what? Anyone have an answer? Thank you
@eeterrific, Great song, but although it was composed & 1st recorded by Mr. Bruce ‘the Boss’ Sprigsteen, the group, Manford Mann’s Earth Band made it a #1 hit in the US. I think they were a decent British band…remember, ‘Watermelon Man’¿?
You expect me to believe Meh would sell me something that helps a me sleep before the midnight refresh? Is this reverse psychology? Is this reverse-reverse psychology?
@onae Actually it’s not supposed to help you sleep. It’s to help you feel awake and energized and positive if you use it in the mornings or mid-day. And after all that energized positive awakeness, THEN and only then will you maybe get better sleep.
@onae, 1st, it’s only midnight if ya live in the ET zone & if so, ya Can move,…you’re always very welcome down here in the deep South, aka, ‘God’s Country’!! 2nd, unless an item sells out, ya can always check out the latest deal later in the morning, JSYK!! Lastly, ,those guys at meh don’t no anything about what
counter-reverse psychology, or whatever you called it is,…now you are getting me confused, but then again, it Is 2:43AM CST!!
Save some therapy lights for the VMPs (Very Mediocre Politicians) who came in second Tuesday (or third or …) and all they got was a tee shirt and a participation trophy.
@FirstLast87 what do you mean? They’re very different from Rose Bulbs & or Bulb Lite! Get a grip, mate!! Ya should really know better than to post such a ridiculous cement!! Okay, Okay,…what do ya expect at3:03AM CST,…another song by Manford Mann¿?
@mcanavino Before I gave it to my mom, I set my previous one slightly below eye level and, if you imagine looking straight ahead is 12:00, it was at about 2:00. 10:00 would work too, if that’s the way you roll. You don’t really want it shining straight into your eyes.
@blaineg@troy Yes it only shows their newer model. Reading reviews of "best SAD lamps) this is not on those lists, sometimes one of their other ones they make are. Also the comment that you have to watch how small they are as you don’t get as much light area with smaller ones and so have to sit closer.
@blaineg it’s because Amazon redirects you to a different variation when that particular one is out of stock. Since it’s going in and out of stock, it’s switching back and forth. Source: I’m an Amz seller.
Funny thing: When I was single, I used to throw parties during Summer Solstice and get really depressed around Winter Solstice. To help, I used to go to tanning beds in the deep of Winter to help me with SADs, before I even knew SADs was a real condition.
When I was dating my now wife, she helped change my outlook on Winter, to celebrate the coming of brighter and longer days. We host Christmas/Solstice parties on that day now.
@TheMonkeyKing I can totally relate! I also have SAD and my absolute favorite day of the year is December 21st because I love knowing that daylight is increasing every day. (I know it varies a bit from the 21st sometimes). And I hate June 21st because it just seems too early in the summer for the days to be getting shorter. It’s depressing, lol! I dislike winter for many reasons, but shorter days is one of the big ones. (Every year I drive my husband nuts because for like a week or 2 before June 21st, I start with “in X days, the days start getting shorter” ).
@qazxto@TxSteve I copied the model number from the description at the top of this page, pasted it into the search box at Amazon, and it took me straight to the product page. There’s a box next to the price that you select for the coupon. It takes the price down to $25 and change.
@lisagd@TxSteve can’t replicate. Maybe targeted or OOS. This is half price for one and basically the same thing and size, simpler operation. I’m just going to pass but thanks for tip. Circadian Optics Light Therapy Lamp - UV-Free LED Desk Lamp with 10,000 Lux for Seasonal Sunlight Changes. Full Spectrum Sun Lights for Work from Home. Lumine (Grey) https://a.co/d/ip5eVXZ
@lisagd@TxSteve I haven’t read the research honestly but I’m guessing it’s a bunch of bright leds with plastic panel. Seems that I can get similar results with a full spectrum natural sunlight imitating with focus on red/blue spectrum grow light by GE.
@lisagd@qazxto@TxSteve From what I’ve read you want at least 10,000 lux with the cooler range of color, and natural light without the UV so the lightbulbs theoretically are somewhat different. I also read that the FDA doesn’t deal with these so it is a buyer beware situation.
@qazxto@TxSteve I lucked out, then. After I bought it using the coupon, I started wondering if it was a 2-pack like here in Meh or a single pack. I went back to the page and all it showed was the white one, so I couldn’t check. I guess they were fixing the glitch. Did you happen to notice if it was a 2-pack?
@TxSteve I suspect the 40% off was supposed to be the amount you saved buying them for $40. I bet someone who’s probably already fired by now dropped the price to $40 and instead of it saying the price was reduced by 40%, put in a 40% coupon. I tried to look at the page again and it’s only showing the white one. It’s the same reduced price as earlier, but now it says it’s 85% off.
Zero discussions about how 10,000 lux is a meaningless specification by itself. Lux requires an area that the light shines upon. I guess maybe you can consider the area of the average human face, which puts this thing at a couple hundred lumens of output. So maybe like a 60 watt light bulb equivalent?
@djslack My understanding when I went to read about it is that the size of the surface emitting the light, plus the distance from the light you are also matters besides the 10,000 lux (which is apparently the minimum lux to do any good).
@Kidsandliz I ran a few calculators based on the size of the emitting surface and got around 185 lumens. That’s not really that bright so I assumed it was wrong. The lights I put in my office are about 10x that and can be set to 5000K so maybe that can do the same thing while I work. I’ve also got two key lights just above my monitors that I’m running at 4500K (they go all the way to 7000K) so I’m really all set for lights to shine in my face.
I was hoping one of these might do well as a kind of background light to wash on my wall and maybe give some dimension to the video but I don’t think it’s suitable. Plus they say the adapter gets very hot if you run it for a while so it’s not meant to stay on.
My office is rather dreary in the winter months, so my plants and I are looking forward to some full-spectrum light. It is already cheerier. I plan to use the second one for some brightness behind my camera for web meetings once I can place it without blinding myself.

@yakkoTDI And your trunk.
@detailer Of course since that is part of my life.
Goodbye darkness my old friend, I’ve got a Circadian.
@heartny, Again,…!!
Just like you,
I’m a poet too
& just like you are,
I’m no better than
a silent fart!
The cool comforting glow of my laptop screen is enough light therapy for me.
@awk I don’t understand where you are supposed to put these lights? Do you mount them on the ceiling, place them on the floor, or what? Anyone have an answer? Thank you
Place the lamp 16-18 inches from your face
Turn it on to the desired brightness

@1DisabledWarVet @eeterrific “Sprigsteen” just doesn’t have the right bounce.
@1DisabledWarVet @eeterrific @rpstrong Sprig of mistletoe?
LOL refer us to the Camel*3 page.
@pmarin “3” = toe?
Do we get the creepy 3-leg stand thing in the last picture?
So what exactly is a “Discreet plug” and why is that an advantage?
@pmarin It’s for when you want to fool around with some kinky AC stuff and don’t want your batteries to know.
@pmarin There’s nothing worse than an indiscreet plug.
Though Indiscreet itself is wonderful.
You expect me to believe Meh would sell me something that helps a me sleep before the midnight refresh? Is this reverse psychology? Is this reverse-reverse psychology?
Someone please explain before I make myself dizzy

@phendrick, You,'re wrong, VMP really stands for ‘Very Moronic Politicians’¡!
How are these different than regular bulbs?
@FirstLast87
<< me looks at selection of bulbs at the hardware store
Could you define regular please?
@FirstLast87 what do you mean? They’re very different from Rose Bulbs & or Bulb Lite! Get a grip, mate!! Ya should really know better than to post such a ridiculous cement!! Okay, Okay,…what do ya expect at3:03AM CST,…another song by Manford Mann¿?
@FirstLast87 @yakkoTDI you mean like a Regular bowel movement¿?
@FirstLast87 They mimic sunlight without those pesky UV waves.
These things fall off a rooftop in Gotham? Usually the sun is shining down, not up at you.
@mcanavino, not if ya live down under, aka, Australia, mate!! I’m Sorry, mate, I’ve been drinking too many Bulb Lites! My Bad!
@mcanavino Before I gave it to my mom, I set my previous one slightly below eye level and, if you imagine looking straight ahead is 12:00, it was at about 2:00. 10:00 would work too, if that’s the way you roll. You don’t really want it shining straight into your eyes.
I don’t need these, or anymore sunlight,…I’m taking Vitamin D³!! So, I’m good!!
You have found the most “Meh” item ever…
The Amazon page looks fine to me.
https://www.amazon.com/Happy-Sun-Light-Therapy-Lamp/dp/B082P9JNWQ
@blaineg yeah strange, it keeps coming and going!
The reviews are a muddle of two different models.
@troy Huh, it only shows the other model now.
@blaineg @troy Yes it only shows their newer model. Reading reviews of "best SAD lamps) this is not on those lists, sometimes one of their other ones they make are. The Discreet Plug is underwhelming. And it looks a lot more like a socket to me.
My order code is refreshing-dependable-cloud.
Isn’t it ironic? It’s like rain on your sunlight day.

@k4evryng @TheMonkeyKing USA needs universal Standard Time, not Daylight Savings time. Just for you and me, at least
Hate to say it, but it’s cheaper on Amazon. 40% off coupon today.
@TxSteve pretty please link? Looked. Can’t find.
@qazxto @TxSteve I copied the model number from the description at the top of this page, pasted it into the search box at Amazon, and it took me straight to the product page. There’s a box next to the price that you select for the coupon. It takes the price down to $25 and change.

@lisagd @qazxto Amazon one was for a 2 pack
@qazxto @TxSteve Thanks. After I posted, I realized that since I had copied/pasted the model number, it had to be a 2-pack. D’oh!
Definitely one of the best products/deals I’ve seen on Meh. If I didn’t already have a SAD lamp I’d buy!
I have a sad friend, would this make him happy? I’d have to secretly shine it on him or else he might bite me.
Meh.

I wish we could only buy one light. I don’t need two.
@Kidsandliz Give it away, give it away, give it away now!

@Trav2974 Nope. I also only want to PAY for one.
If I shine one of these on my face, I’ll feel like I’m being interrogated!
@MrNews Is it safe?
@blaineg @MrNews Now my teeth hurt…
@blaineg @MrNews Ru u hiding something
I just got back from my therapist who recommended one of these. Fortuitous timing!
@Qylvaran but did your therapist recommend two of these?
@djslack No, but I have two desks at home.
