What are others?

@cmdrvaughn the X-Men are the most notable one that’s being held ‘hostage’. Wolverine has been a member of The Avengers but thanks to licensing issues he’s been unable to be included. Other rights held elsewhere include Ghost Rider and The Fantastic Four, further it’s not clear if the Daredevil movie rights are still with Fox or if they came back home, TV and Movie rights have not been bundled historically. Alot of these agreements also involve related characters like villains too, so it’s even more of a mess. There’s also concepts tied up in this, for example they can’t talk about mutants in the MCU, that would get them in trouble with Fox due to their holding the X-Men rights whereas Fox movies can’t reference The Avengers for example.

@Circuitbrkr Have you tried using different cables(type too)? So instead of using a Serial Cable, try using the DVI cable instead.

@shellzy It would have been amazing if my fuko bag had had one of these. Mostly because I bought one of these new a few years ago and couldn’t get another one later since they got discontinued. I had to buy a non matching monitor for my second screen.

@cdickson This just replaced a 6-year-old, 20" non-HD LCD where black looked grey and all my code was blurry due to the terrible resolution. It was my only home monitor and it looked terrifying next to my work MacBook Pro. So it was also amazing for it to be in mine.

@jbartus that’s the disposition. In some cases, the company purchasing the returned items is negotiated before the product is returned. Best Buy has product return centers that take care of that and try to recoup money. Microcenter runs a much slimmer operation so many items are actually dispositioned at the store.

File an enquiry at the local PO. If you have time, go talk to the postmaster at your local PO (the one that delivers to you - which might not be the closest one).

Many POs scan something as “delivered” when it initially arrives at the PO, not when they actually get it to you.

I’ve gotten packages showing as “delivered” which actually arrived at my maildrop 2-3 days later.

It can be somewhat worth going thru the 800 # in addition, but that’s all outsourced and inefficient. Focus on your local delivery PO. Talk to them face to face or on the phone. Nothing automated.

Best times late morning Tues-Thurs, say 10-11:15, or better -afternoons, 2-4 pm. POs very busy this week.

Turns out that this Fuko is painful.

I just noticed that in some spots the blue is scratched off and the metallic look is exposed.

@owlhooter I don’t think it was literally a display watch, just that the display is ‘paper like’ – not really uncommon for displays that in and of themselves don’t have to be rugged in any way.

@CaptAmehrican That’s so nice of you! I think Monday would work best, my afternoon’s full of meetings. If you’re familiar with the campus, we can meet in the lobby level of The Commons, as you can park in the loading dock for a short time for free, no point in making you pay for parking AND walk across campus! I can post a map if needed.

@smigit2002 I was in a bad car crash last night. My car is totaled. My legs hurt but are not broken. However, I don’t have a car today and umbc is about 4 miles away. The monitor is still yours but I can’t drop it to umbs. Do you have a car? Could you pick it up near fredrick rd? Maybe the dunkin donuts?

Not sure why the pictures uploaded upside down, but I can’t seem to fix it. Sorry!

@bdbolduc sometimes cell phone pictures have data on them that tells certain products to rotate them, but not everything can read that. If you open in paint and save with them facing in the right direction they’ll be right side up.

@Pantheist what’s really trippy is that if you open the image files directly they are the proper side up, at least in Chrome. It’s almost like Chrome is reading the directionality data from the camera and respecting it but when it’s embedded it is ignored. O__o

@Tiverty unfortunately I found the Pebble to be a disappointing first intro to smart watches (probably part of why they failed?) and took mine back after about a week of owning it for many of the reasons named here. I only expect it to get worse now that Pebble has shut down. Can’t beat free though!

Meta watches are effectively dead since the company that made them went under. Someone else who got one broken / without a charger might be willing to give you theirs to cannibalize. There are apparently guides out there to bypass the phone home to Meta’s servers but it is unclear how much functionality the watch will have at that point.

@magman60 When I got the Meta M1 watch in a fuko last year sometime the battery didn’t stay charged long, after a few charging cycles it now stays charged for about a week. It’s true the app phones home and is pretty much useless from the app store as it requires the communication to even set the time. I “hacked” the app though to direct it to my own server and host up a fake response back that at least gets the time functionality and notifications from the app to the watch to work though. I have that download available here for android, no IOS hacking here. I’m not sure if it works with firmware straight out of the box or will expect an update, so if you ever get the watch going let me know if it works.

@verydark get a Google Chromecast and an HDMI Female to DVI Male adapter, then you can stream anything you like from your phone to it. Any other HDMI device would work with the same adapter, theoretically.

@Circuitbrkr I bought a Martian Notifier a while back from meh and it is pretty awesome - I didn’t want a full smart watch, just to see my notifications while my phone is tucked away out of my hands and the hands of toddlers. I hope you love yours

@Pantheist I think she’s just more upset that I keep buying these things. She sees it as a waste of money, that and the stuff just usually takes up space. But I’ve also got some decent things from them in the past, so it’s not like I’m going to stop. Luckily I found someone who would like the owls so they will go to a good home and not clutter mine or end up in the dump (at least not by her doing). HAHA
