@RiotDemon
A juniper is what I was thinking too, but the needles/leaves look too short and stubby. And after some reading, I’m wondering if it’s a tree at all. Fake bonsai trees are a thing I guess.
@eonfifty@RiotDemon I’m going to have to try that some time. Was just looking at a house with my brother-in-law and there were trees there I didn’t know. Would be good to know what things are and if you buy the place, do you want to keep them.
@eonfifty@RiotDemon@ybmuG Check out the app “Seek”, from iNaturalist, Cal ACademy of Science and Nat Geo. It’s pretty amazing at identifying many tree species (or getting close) just from leaves, even just the bark. You just point your phone camera at it and click. Works for animals, birds and insects, too. You can also feed it pics you already have saved.
@eonfifty@mike808 Yeah, first I though he meant Gaius Julius Caesar, (play on “guy” and “juniper” - pretty clever) but this appears to be a still from Life of Brian - a scene that discusses his “friend in Rome”, “Biggus D***us”. Which would, yes, be NSFW.
My Google lens thinks it’s some kind of juniperus.
I’m still analyzing.
Conferta maybe.

@eonfifty @RiotDemon Blue Star juiper has needles like that, though it is more blue. Wondering if there is a greener relative

@eonfifty @ybmuG good job Google!
It got me 90% of the way and I had to pick a choice at the end.
Using the Google lens on the fly is pretty neat. I was looking at some tree and I used the camera to figure out what it was. The easiest thing ever.

@RiotDemon @ybmuG
IDK. I think it might be a juniper procumbens.

@eonfifty @RiotDemon Yeah - looks like it could be a match as well. Either way, definitely a bonsai-able plant though, would you agree?

You bought it from the wrong van. The correct one was down by the river
It is a needle Juniper
@stolicat Fractal giphy is hurting my brain!!!
Given it’s provenance, perhaps coca bush?
To me it looks like a bush, not a tree.
Could you take it to a garden shop or arbor shop and find out? If so, let us know!
@f00l
Tomorrow is my Saturday, and I have no plans, so I might just do that!
It looks like an Eastern Red Cedar to me. My house is surrounded by them.
The Seek app thinks it’s a type of cypress (don’t think do) but then again it thinks my dog is some kind of fish…
@ybmuG you mean like this:
