So how good is Alien Tape? Well, let me tell you a couple of stories.
I have purchased this from Meh in the past and I still have a good bit of it left.
Story 1: I used it to anchor down some non-skid tapes on a set of outdoor steps off our back deck. Meh. Miserable failure, as I probably should have know with the rinse-repeat bit about reusing it. It doesn’t hold in wet environment.
Story 2: I used it to anchor a wireless phone base to a small shelf above a bed. I put the tape on the painted dry wall and pushed the back of the telephone base onto to it. Worked fine for quite a while. Then one day the supporting shelf underneath fell (don’t ask) and the phone base and the alien tape came tumbling down as well. Problem was the paint and the paper covering on the drywall stayed with the tape and phone base.
Now there is an ugly “brown” raw spot in the dry wall surface. In retrospect, I should have put a couple of screws into the wall and attached the wireless phone base to them as they are set up for that. The tape just seamed to be the easiest solution at the time.
My point is that in the right application, this stuff is great, but it isn’t like the old 3M stickum units with the elastic goo tape that is easily removable. And from what I can see it is susceptible to elastic creep when a under shear load over time.
So use it indoors, in areas with low moisture, and in applications in which one doesn’t keep the adhesive surface under a shear load. Also be aware that the tape has a measurable thickness of around 1 mm, so it isn’t flat like adhesive or even duct tape.
Honestly I can’t recommend this enough for $10. This shit works really well, and at this price point you don’t have to think twice about wasting it. No residue, no scraping—I still have a ton from last time and I’m considering getting more for the IRK discount.
NOTE: don’t pull the plastic off the sides when you store it (or store it upright/keep it in the bag) or it’ll stick to whatever you lay it on—not catastrophically, but enough to be annoying.

@therealjrn You put a space between “/” and “showme”. That’s why it didn’t work.
@MrGoodGuy oh, habit.
The moment has passed now.
/showme a passed moment
@mediocrebot if that’s the moment, I would go with it!
