I have two of the 4000’s and two of the 8000’s .The 4000’s have the built in cable’s and the 8000’s don’t. My family uses my powerbanks quite a bit and they are using these more than the others. Mostly because they are pretty small for the size of the capacity.
Awww man, I got to the part about Ratt-a-Tattlerz and got all excited! I need a training collar for my rattlesnake. He (I’m assuming it’s a he, but I’m actually not sure) won’t do anything I tell him (still assuming) to do. Then you said you just made that part up. You monsters.
But hey, I do need a couple of spare power banks, so I guess I’ll forgive you. At least I’ll be able to recharge my rattlesnake when he (*) gets low on energy when we’re out for a walk (er, slither).
I felt your pain re: your snek’s gender identity issues, so Google found this to help you.
So you’re welcome…
How do you tell if a snake is a male or female?
The eastern massasauga rattlesnake pictured is a female. We know this because she has 21 subcaudal scales, which are found on the underside of the tail. Males have 25 to 33 and females have 19-29.
Believe it or not, most animals are sexually dimorphic. Sexual dimorphism, simply put, is a set of unique, observable characteristics that distinguish sex in a species. Observable is a key word here because there are many small details that often get overlooked.
Laurence M. Klauber took the time to note many of these characteristics in his classic two volume book Rattlesnakes: Their Habits, Life Histories, and Influence on Mankind, published in 1972. I have always used this fantastic book as a reference. It has helped me to determine the sex of eastern massasaugas by counting the subcaudal scales.
How do you charge these? I mean what is the input port? Do they support any of the fast charge protocols, QC Quickcharge or USB-PD? Price is pretty good for a more-or-less name brand.
@SirLouie@TheOneAlex
Manual (see below for link) says it comes with a cable, but unlike the one referenced in the reply, it is not permanently attached to the bank.
When you pay full retail for it, it has a 2 year warranty instead of the 90 days from meh. The amazon page says 1 year. Who knows.
Also, you charge it through the usb-c port. I don’t have any usb-c stuff at the moment so I wonder if I’d need a special charger, or just a different cable or adapter for one of my existing chargers.
I’m going a little bit back and forth about this. It’s a good price, but what’s up with the warranty? Are these things really new? Plus would I use it? I already have several battery banks, though none as nice as this. They might be nice as xmas gifts though.
@Narwalt see further up: no QC or PD. I guess 2 amps at 5 volts or something like that. It can charge two devices at once though. Here is the manual (pdf):
according to the manual it looks like these have “priority charging” – a feature were the device, once plugged in, charges first then the bank charges (if you have it connected to a charger)
I had one of these that got stolen out of my suitcase when it was at MCI. Loved that charger, but alas… it’s gone. May have to pull the trigger on this offer and have 2 decent ones to tide me over.
@wickhameh Sounds like she would benefit from a WAP (Wattage-adaptable powerbank). To help keep the business flowing smoothly. At vr⁹ g%& It’s one less point of friction messing with your head when you don’t have to worry about running out of juice, and that’s a good feeling.
@glhargett The one I see there (2 for $15) is 5000 mah:
That is also a good price. 10,000 is kind of an awkward size, heavy enough to be a hassle to take places, but less capacity than the bigger ones (20,000+) that are just a little bit more hassle. I figure getting two 10,000’s is usually at least as good as a 20,000 and $24 for a 20,000 is still good, so I ordered.
I wonder what happens if you plug two of them together with a USB-C cable. One is supposed to charge the other, but how does it know which is which?
@glhargett@Pony The 10,000 mah $29 one over there is wireless which is a nice feature if your phone supports it. It makes for different trade-offs though.
Daughters, grandkids, etc.etc.! Choose your pain, gift these or watch yours disappear! Sorta like the McD’s commercial, “get them fries, or your fries become your fries”, in for six!

Moar power…
Something went terribly wrong.
@jsh139 OH GOD NO WHAT HAPPENED
@jsh139 Don’t worry. You can cancel the purchase if you don’t wait too long.
Bought one before. Fairly nice powerbank.
@alose Can you verify that this model has pass-through charging?
@lichen Yes, though you have to connect to the A port to charge your device.
Reminds me of The Mighty Morphine Power Strangers, a group of misfits that need pain killers to make it until the next charge.

Bought the 6000 mAh ones last time. Great battery packs.

Are we really still on power banks? I guess it’s still 2020, so yeah…
@mehvid1 …and where do YOU plug-in to charge?
I swore that I would not make a rude comment here!!
@Lynnerizer waaaaa… I’m SO offended.
Wirelessly 99% of the time, to answer your question, with the exception of plugging in when I’m the car.
How do you charge these? I mean what is the input port? Do they support any of the fast charge protocols, QC Quickcharge or USB-PD? Price is pretty good for a more-or-less name brand.
@phr
From what I can see on the Amazon page, these don’t support PD or quick charge, so you get a couple of amps of input and output and that’s it
@phr You charge the battery through the C port. The C Port can deliver 3a 5V, so 18w.
/giphy withdrawn-distinguished-voyage
Do these come with (a) cable(s)? Which one(s)?
@SirLouie Don’t think so. The 4000 mAh ones that were available a month or two ago came with built-in USB-C cables.
@SirLouie @TheOneAlex
Manual (see below for link) says it comes with a cable, but unlike the one referenced in the reply, it is not permanently attached to the bank.

@TheOneAlex Oh baby I like this one
@TheOneAlex I hate it when that happens…
Meh’s writer says they’re not famous, but Mophie is well known as producing exactly this kind of battery forever. I might go for it.
more powerful than you realize.
Harvested from the moon.
@tweezak
@tweezak I just re-watched that movie a couple weeks ago. I saw it when it was first released in theaters and it still holds up well. A classic.
@macromeh Daisy…Daisy…
10,000 mAh: Not exactly the Mophie Dick of powerbanks.
I tried a giphy on “Mophie Dick,” but it was NSFW even though a “part” of it was pixelated.

@phr They will make nice xmas gifts. If I didn’t already have 2 power banks I would be getting these.
@phr It comes with an A-C cable. I charge mine with regular ol’ 2.1A USB charger. I bought several of the 8000mah ones to give as stocking stuffers.
What’s the output of these?
How fast do they charge a device?
QC or PD compatible?
Is it listed and I just don’t see it?
@Narwalt see further up: no QC or PD. I guess 2 amps at 5 volts or something like that. It can charge two devices at once though. Here is the manual (pdf):

I’d love to get one for my wife and one for myself, but she really loves pink (goes with her business), and I would prefer any other color.
Update I just realized that “Pink goes with her business” is the most innuendous thing I’ve written today!
I’m quite satisfied with the 8000 mAh ones from before, so I might get these as gifts.

I keep finding myself needing pass-through charging.

@jbluther nope, from Fee!
No horror stories, so I’m for the deal. Just happen to need a couple.

Morning Save has same for $15 today
@glhargett That’s for the 5,000 mAh size. The 10,000 mAh size is $29 there.
@glhargett @Pony I only see the 8,000 or 5,000 ones

I planned to buy this one, then I started playing Hades and now it’s tomorrow.
@gimpeyjoe Looks like you can still buy it! Seems they forgot to close the sale.
@embedit interesting. Worth the experiment.
One of mine died while charging… noticeably swollen. Hello recycle?! Take care my freinds.
