My wife has a couple of these. They actually work pretty well. Sound is decent. Pairing can be clunky some times, but usually works fine. I think she’s had them about 3-4 years.
These seem neat. One question: can they be used in stereo mode when connected to a device using an AUX cable, or does stereo functionality only work with Bluetooth?
@hchavers That would be difficult (but not impossible with adapters) with most devices using minijack output. I was mostly wondering if there is provision for connecting the AUX cord to one speaker, and linking the other one wirelesly to the first, in the same manner as it would use Bluetooth to connect to the source.
@hchavers@PooltoyWolf Yeah, I plugged one into my iPod which sounded fine but the other one just kept trying to connect via Bluetooth. I tried different power-on sequences, just in case it mattered.
@PooltoyWolf what you describe I’ve not encountered in any speakers I’ve run across. It would essentially be doing an analog/digital conversion, streaming the signal and then syncing together so they play with no delay. This would have been very useful with the QFX BT/wifi speakers from here that do whole home audio, but they will not convert from the aux in, only play the signal supplied wirelessly.
The easy answer is that you could use a Bluetooth transmitter attached to your wired device.
@PooltoyWolf You’ll need to get a left/right y-splitter, which you can get on Amazon. I use one for aux cable input on two bigger speakers and it works fine.
@carlwbrownjr is right, @PooltoyWolf. I made an assumption that a constraint would be aux in to one, and the other wirelessly paired to be the other channel. A split cable should do the trick.
How does the inline capability work? Are the cords included? Will they still need charged or does the inline also keep them charged? What do I need to look for on my TV to see if there is the ability to use in-line capability speakers with it? Thank you.
@jmrobinett No audio cables included. Line-in is pretty simple. You’ll need a “y” audio cable with a stereo plug on one end and two L-R mono plugs on the other. TV just needs a line/headphone out, usually a 1/8" jack. Charging is through micro USB. Audio connection will not charge.
@jmrobinett I can answer some of that. It’ll be an 1/8" aux cord and you will still need to charge them separately. This is probably a poor choice for that use case.
@Kyser_Soze@therealjrn I’ll hazard a guess that it wasn’t designed by a woman, and that the designer had a bunch of left over curtain material from a home decorating project.
Did something happen with today’s writeup? It reads like marketing copy straight from the manufacturer. Or did this deal have to be put in at the last minute?

@skilaki Fortunately, neither of mine screech. One is a little louder than the other, which I find annoying - but at least I can think of a couple of high (or low) tech ways to do something about it.

@akadamia True stereo or just dual mono?
@akadamia @Pufferfishy I have the Jam True wireless earbuds and when they are paired it’s stereo not dual mono. Hope that helps!
Refurbished = used.
No wattage? Can’t be good

“Jam plus Portable Bluetooth Speakers” … so I get a speaker and a jar of jam? What kind of jam?
@awk strawberry jam, maybe some pearl jam
@robson As long as it’s not traffic jam or paper jam, I guess I’ll be fine.
@awk @robson or toe jam
@awk The Justified Ancients of Mu Mu.
@awk @robson What’s wrong with a Traffic jam?
/youtube Traffic Woodstock
@awk @robson @ybmuG or toe jam football with hair down to your knees
These seem neat. One question: can they be used in stereo mode when connected to a device using an AUX cable, or does stereo functionality only work with Bluetooth?
@PooltoyWolf Do you have left and right Aux cables?
@hchavers @PooltoyWolf Just tried them. Definitely need a “y” cable to connect both in stereo when not connecting via Bluetooth

@hchavers @ybmuG Bummer! That’s what I wanted to know.
@hchavers @PooltoyWolf Yeah, I plugged one into my iPod which sounded fine but the other one just kept trying to connect via Bluetooth. I tried different power-on sequences, just in case it mattered.

@hchavers @ybmuG Thank you for your insight and testing!
@hchavers @PooltoyWolf I think you want these. You only missed them being sold here by about four years. I really like mine.

@msayler ahhhh mehhh zing lyrics
@msayler Behind Bluetooth…
@msayler Wow, these speakers arrived today and sound surprisingly not shitty
Damn it. I do not need more Bluetooth speakers. But stereo…black…not goofy looking…perfect vmp bait for me. Sigh. You win meh. ghoulish-nice-mercury

It’s not Tuesday
Watts?
anything I have to monitor or charge or connect is so…2007.
Alexa or GA FTW
VMP bait for sure
/buy --color “black”
@ManBehindPlan It worked! Your order number is: rusty-vivacious-tail
/image rusty vivacious tail
VMP bait would be 2 for $9 or $10. $19 is over that threshold for me.
@RedOak The tree of red is correct. I believe this item exceeds VMP bait levels.
Soooo…there’s no actual jam included…? It says Jam plus portable BT speakers.
I prefer jam over jelly.
User manual through Amazon
Only 2 pages in PDF, but lots of info.
@phendrick Also, Amy says the speaker dimensions are 3" diam by 3" high – I didn’t see that mentioned anywhere here.
Micro usb? When were these things made, the early 1800s?

@lljk No kidding
Where is @dseanadams and what did you do with him Meh?
@lljk Seriously serious write up indeed - most disappointing!
@lljk I’m sure I don’t know what you’re talking about. (Er, looks like someone clicked the wrong button…I think we’re all fixed now.)
@lljk @therealjrn @frankefresh it wasn’t me, I promise!!!

I’ve had one for years and love it! Awesome sound from a small little speaker!

one works great and the other has a high pitch screaching sound. so much for refurbished
