@lichme The batteries definitely aren’t, UltraFire is kind of infamous in the vape community for having the worst batteries. And any battery can go blooey if you don’t take care of it and let the wraps get frayed, or put an extra battery in your backpack with your keys or something else metal.
@alexpope Agreed. They make nice stocking stuffers for those people in your live that you don’t want to expend the brain power to consider what they might actually want, but not even that at $5 each. Too little for too much.
@RiotDemon google ‘‘cree ultrafire’’, they are now between $3-4 on multiple sites it looks like. decent light if it lasts more than a month or two, 3/4 of mine have died within a few months and one is going on it’s second or third year
@alexpope Yup, $3 all day long. 800m is bullshit, not even 800 feet. Maybe 80 feet. Lumens is likely 100~, generously. They failed to mention that they’re focusable (their best attribute). They are decent little lights for the price, I’ve had a few, but if you spend just a little more you get something much better.
@jzmacdaddy I’ve owned 4 or 5 from two different amazon sellers, 1 DOA, 2 died within a couple months. I remains…not total junk but this is not a deal for a mediocre 100 lumen light
@RiotDemon go to amazon and look. There’s a dozen of them and they’re all the same flashlight. I’ve bought about 6 of them over the last few years. All under $5 a piece.
@TEDVITALIZED I’m not convinced those are the exact same ones, because the page you linked doesn’t have any pictures that show the opposite side where it says HWAWYA, and I saw some other with the non-unique “Cree” logo.
@alexpope I have maybe 8 of similar lights and one switch is suspect. The rest work great. This is a competitive price for the quantity and they most likely all come out of the same factory in China. I probably would have gotten another pair…If I woke up earlier.
@alexpope yeah, they can be had on amazon or banggood for about that price. they’re ok, but not great. Good glovebox, purse, man-purse, bedside, peeking at the kids trapped in your basement, or emergency light though.
@RedOx I picked up a few of these off Wish a couple of months ago. The 14500 batteries work great and last a good while before they need charging again.
@cengland0 oh I know the price is good, just would have loved a better version of fhis. The 18650 powered flashlight I do have is crazy expensive (it’s a lightsaber) and having a cheaper pair would be awesome.
@RedOak likely cree sells their cheap crap for companies to put their own branding on them. Interesting to do image searches. The one of the light shining at the trees is used with several different flashlights.
@xEBRONx if by just like this you mean 3AAA powered with 9 generic non-CREE leds, and they don’t even come with the batteries anymore, then, yeah, I guess you can.
Oh, and not black and not heavy and not tactical like black traffic cones.
@jsimsace
You better have a strong bladder. I tested a similar one, the beam effectively goes at least 300ft.
It may be seen 800m away, but the flashlight holder would not see it after a few hundred.
@cengland0 yeah amazon or ebay, they’re “cree branded,” I have several…super nice case sure, I always carry my flashlights in cheap plastic tactical tupperware. literally can get 10 of these for 20 bucks
@cengland0 I initially didn’t notice that these come with a case, but you can Google them pretty easily. Try Fasttech.com or Banggood.com which are both chinese-based companies that I’ve ordered from safely many times myself. Plus for a $1 more you can get one here (cheaper if you buy ten) : http://bit.ly/2mmdUMP
I have similar ones that I got around the same price, good for the money except mine use the 14500 batteries which last much longer. Good for a light you don’t care is you lose/abuse/give away
I’ve got several of these in the past from Amazon for $3-3.50/ea, but shipped from China. They are great flashlights, very bright, and quite durable. Seems like a good deal for two with a case shipped locally!
Yeah I bought these for $5 for everyone i know 2 years ago, but might buy more… It’s probably a price point that hard to make cheaper sacrificing what little quality there is
Already have a set of these and happily just ordered more. It’s amazing how powerful the beam is considering it’s powered by a single AA battery. Very well made too.
@alexpope Yep, they’re pretty much all made by those same few Chinese factories. The factories just stamp them with different logos depending who their clients are. I seriously doubt that the ones sold in the sporting goods stores here in the US are any different, other than the logo and packaging. (they sell them here in clamshell packaging…americans like to shoplift it seems )
no.no.no.no. paused? I needed these. Dag Nabbit. I’m gonna be shoveling a foot of snow when these go unpaused. (I have one of these and they’re nice.)
dag nabbit.
@Wolverine350r , @G1
Not sorry I missed it then. I am sure I have much better flashlights already. Plus, I promised myself not to buy any that were not recharge ready.
I have one of these sitting right next to me, compared to my Nitecore EA45S. With a fresh AA I would say the zoomed square is similar in brightness to the Nitecore on low (45 lumens). They are much brighter with the lithium 14500 cells (sorry don’t have one charged), but the life seems really poor to me.
@iynque
I just got done with a search for an elderly dementia patient at 4am. My Streamlight Strion is amazing, made the snow look like daylight. Advertised at 500 lumens, puts out actually 500 lumens. No overblown marketing garbage, just a crap ton of light.
5 or more are given away daily on Amazon Giveaways. I won one after only a few days of trying. It doesn’t cone with a case, but is pretty good, even for $5.
Is the plan to offer overpriced shitty items until everyone decides to cancel VMP (gaining money from the idle VMP memberships the whole time), then to increase profit margins by collecting shipping charges from everyone who orders?
Was going to bite, but after reading the comments, taking a pass. Like everyone else, I don’t need flashlights, but they looked cool and convenient. So I guess I just saved $10?
You want the real reason everything is called “tactical” now?
It’s actually a very sinister corporate reason!
They call things tactical to avoid paying the hunting and fishing excise tax that goes to protect the environment and rehabilitation of habitats.
This started at Plano with tackle boxes, if you change it to tactical from tackle or fishing box they would save a mere .$30 a box but that money means a ton for fish and game of the world.
Now every sporting goods company is doing g it and the funds for protecting the environment are drying up.
Have some morals meh and stop selling these “tactical” garbage products and join others in calling out these greddy s.o.b CEOs would would have no problem. Taking a crap in your backyard if it meant they’d save a penny
@msujp Don’t lie to yourself, the EPA isn’t about protecting the environment, it is about lining some suite and tie yuppies pockets with money from the sheep, just like any other government regulation that is put in place.
@paintz2007 Having lived in SoCal all my life, I remember days in school which we couldn’t play outside because of the air pollution. The EPA (and CARB) has played a huge role in cleaning things up; I like to be able to breathe, y’know.
Got to buy at least one thing a month to get that value out of VMP. (How can you save money on shipping if you don’t buy anything? How can you have any pudding if you don’t eat your meat? --sorry, that second question just popped in there.) Can always use a few more flashlights.
Guess I cancel the VMP today… 1 of 2 things has happened… either meh.com got ripped off with a very poor decision by whoever bought these that should be fired. To need to sale these for $10 to make a profit when any of us can put the same thing together on any number of straight from China websites and come out less than $10… or… meh.com knows we are all a bunch of idiots and they just bought a crap load of these to fill in a few 2 for tuesdays. We’ll see these roll around again in April and since we are all a bunch of suckers… keep an eye on gearbest, lightinthebox, alibaba, banggood, etc… for when they have some big discounts… you will then start seeing all of those products show up on meh.com… the screwy thing is their own write up basically admits that the second possibility is most likely what they did… and we are dumb enough to send them our money… genius
@shawn looks like I’ve got until April 9, so I will wait and see if I am correct with second assumption…Or someone can just tell us how these came to be…
@nichojr You see, when two Cree Flashlights really love each other, they spend some alone time together. Then, after about 9 months, a stork comes and drops off a tiny little flashlight on the front porch. That is how these came to be. You can think of the $10 cost as an adoption fee. These appear to be twins.
Meanwhile, I got an offer from PayPal that I can get $5 off an order of $5+ anywhere. It expires tomorrow, so I’m looking at stuff.
I was looking at catshirts (hi @narfcake. Total coincidence btw), but I’ll probably get another flashlight. The current one in my car is cool, but a small strong one would be preferable.
@paintz2007 , I agree with @cinoclav. I have ordered maybe 20 times from Aliexpress and never had a problem. I did have one order that wasn’t shipped a week after the order was placed, but Aliexpress was proactive and cancelled the order, refunded my money and suspended the seller at one fell swoop. In fact, Aliexpress seems to provide better buyer protection than eBay OR Amazon. I buy from them with confidence.
That said, sometimes the shipping delay can be frustrating. Some Aliexpress sellers actually have warehouses in the US and orders arrive within a few days. Those that ship from China can be here within a week, and some take 2 to 3 weeks. The longest I’ve waited so far has been about 30 days.
@cinoclav I got some “authentic” Shopkins from China once. Clearly knock-offs and looked to be hand-painted with lead paint. I couldn’t let my child play with them.
@medz I wouldn’t buy branded items like that from an unknown source. I would however buy cheap electronics like flashlights or crappy ‘tactical’ cases when it’s well known they all come from the same factories. You just need to shop wisely.
@cinoclav I’ll do you one better. I ordered some (very particular small shape & size) li-ion batteries from Aliexpress. They were apparently refused by US customs. The seller contacted me and asked if i wanted a refund or for them to try shipping again. They shipped again, it got sent again.
After all that pain in their ass, the seller finally refunded my $11 or whatever it was.
A disappointment surely. If you could make any interest on savings nowadays. i might wonder if it was a scam. Hold enough peoples’ money for a couple months, interest on $11 might add up. But not at today’s rates.
@danpritts I don’t think the seller was out to scam you, but rather, was caught in the regulations. The manufacturers making the unsafe batteries and the sellers that sell them caused shipping lithium ion batteries to become a mess in the first place.
Several places sell these for under $5 each. I have a few, and they WOULD be a great little flashlight for the price if it weren’t for the tail cap switches going bad. After a few months they just don’t like staying on anymore. Two things are missing from the Meh description: the flashlights are focusable, and the tail cap switch cycles between three settings: high, low, and strobe. Unlike other models, this one will always remember what setting was last used: If you last used it on low, it will strobe when you turn it on the next day!
@medz If it’s not against the rules to do so! I bought mine from newfrog.com, they’re a Chinese importer. I’m currently at work so can’t spend time finding the exact link, but I’m sure other sites like Amazon and maybe even eBay have them, too.
Wonder what the correlation is between people who buy knives with people who buy flashlights. I bet it’s high. If you’re gonna’ cut, chop and poke, you might as well cut, chop and poke in the dark too.
Got these today, they are literally† the same as the ones from China retailers, even down to the mis-threaded clip screws. Just different branding.
On the plus side, owning this plastic box means I am literally‡ in the military now, so be sure to thank me for my service and give me discounts on stuff.
@nayrreirg let me know before I give them to the kid… Username @ onmyhonor dot com…
He will think it is a cool box for about 2 minutes and then I will find it around the house different places and want to murder him…so you may be saving his life if you take it
I just tried one of these out and they suck big time. Not even as good as the knock-offs that I’ve purchased from Amazon in the past. The beam does not focus out hardly at all so it only lights a very small area. Very weak light as well. It’s practically worthless.
I know we joke about crap from Meh sucking, but lately I have been striking out majorly on stuff from Meh. I’m canceling the VMP and the nightly text message I get from your Twitter feed.

You light up my life!
@yakkoTDI
/giphy mirrored-itchy-lion
@yakkoTDI Oh, Yeah!
@yakkoTDI You know, up until this moment, I had never thought about Homer Simpson’s genitals. So thank you for opening this new door in my life.
@awk They’re yellow.
I feel like meh needs to validate the claim that these are explosion proof with video evidence
@lichme The batteries definitely aren’t, UltraFire is kind of infamous in the vape community for having the worst batteries. And any battery can go blooey if you don’t take care of it and let the wraps get frayed, or put an extra battery in your backpack with your keys or something else metal.
@JoetatoChip And I take some of this back after realizing it’s not 18650 powered whoops
@lichme click…nothing. Is that proof?
@lichme I will gladly test this for meh they should send me 6 to test with a variety of explosives
@JoetatoChip They were designed for 14500s. AA sized rechargeables
Brightness is no longer measured in lux or lumens? It’s now measured in distance like 800m range?
@cengland0 I thought it was measured in +Int
@cengland0 Yeah, with only 1 AA to drive it, the photons can’t go very far before they lose momentum and fall to the ground.
@tizio Comment of the day! You sound like someone who sort of paid attention in physics class!
@tizio I didn’t realize Alcoholics Anonymous had that much power.
these have been around $3.40 on amazon for two years, and are totally crap
@alexpope do you have a link?
@alexpope not crap. They are actually pretty good for a single AA led flashlight.
@alexpope Agreed. They make nice stocking stuffers for those people in your live that you don’t want to expend the brain power to consider what they might actually want, but not even that at $5 each. Too little for too much.
@RiotDemon 5 for 18?
https://www.amazon.com/AR-happy-online-Flashlight-Adjustable/dp/B01CB2ZTYQ/ref=sr_1_sc_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1489464153&sr=8-2-spell&keywords=3+M+ODE+TACTICAL+FLASHLIGHT

@alexpope Yeah, but are the the Explosion Proof versions???
@alexpope My cheapo $2-$4 ones have worked great over the years, this is average at best.
@alexpope under different brands. the only thing crap is some of them have crappy switches. they are very bright.
@alexpope I have maybe 8 of similar lights and one switch is suspect. The rest work great. This is a competitive price for the quantity and they most likely all come out of the same factory in China. I probably would have gotten another pair…If I woke up earlier.
@chipt4 Any specific suggestions for “just a little bit more” lights?
@alexpope yeah, they can be had on amazon or banggood for about that price. they’re ok, but not great. Good glovebox, purse, man-purse, bedside, peeking at the kids trapped in your basement, or emergency light though.
I want to believe
aww, not 18650 powered? meh
@seraphimcaduto Agree but at this price, the 18650 battery would cost more than the flashlight.
@cengland0 they look like they fit either.
@seraphimcaduto they prob take 14500 tho
@seraphimcaduto These flashlights in AA are the best, cheap to replace and always around
@RedOx I’ve got a few of these and they work great with a 14500.
@RedOx I picked up a few of these off Wish a couple of months ago. The 14500 batteries work great and last a good while before they need charging again.
@seraphimcaduto
I = light intensity (candela, W/m2)
means "is proportional to"
d = distance from a light source (m)
Intensity at different distances:
@cengland0 oh I know the price is good, just would have loved a better version of fhis. The 18650 powered flashlight I do have is crazy expensive (it’s a lightsaber) and having a cheaper pair would be awesome.
Sure, why not?
/buy
@hanzov69 Wow, these are selling fast and we’re busy processing other orders. Try again in a little bit.
@mediocrebot gaah… FINE! I’ll do it myself.
/giphy jumping-grubbing-sausage
@mediocrebot
Appealing to my flashlight addiction? Well played, Meh. Well played.
/giphy well played
@ruouttaurmind Me too. I must have over 30 flashlights and I’m considering buying more because these are cree and cheap.
What is the lumen rating of these?
I love the little red one from the previous sale on Big flashie-lights, and wonder how these compare…
Here these are on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/UltraFire-300lm-Flashlight-Poccket-Adjustable/dp/B011YQNE7O/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1489464379&sr=8-1-fkmr0&keywords=UltraFire+HWAWYS+Cree+Flashlight
@PhysAssist Also sold here too:
https://www.tanga.com/deals/3521d69ae2b9/2-pack-indestructible-500-lumen-tactical-military-flashlight-with-case?internal_campaign=front_page_missed_deals&product_list_type=front_page&product_list_value=missed_deals
with a different branding…
@PhysAssist in spite of the search criteria, didn’t find that one making any CREE claims in the specs.
@Kidsandliz
Even tho that one is:
It too does not appear to make any CREE claims.
@RedOak likely cree sells their cheap crap for companies to put their own branding on them. Interesting to do image searches. The one of the light shining at the trees is used with several different flashlights.
@Kidsandliz I believe that image is stolen from a forum where a guy built his own uber light with a huge led.
@Kidsandliz Is there is a more copied/rebranded/same factory/different factory product on the Internet than this flashlight “design”?
While I sincerely appreciate the Meh.com exclusive… Are these really that much better than the ones you get at the dollar store?
@haydesigner Absolutely! 5x better!
@ruouttaurmind, youze mad mathz skillz humble me
@haydesigner I lernt my cypherin skills where I lernt my spellin skills!
Needs fan blades.
no lumen spec, no dice
Why not?
/giphy prudent-dependable-hole
@w3kn OMG, Harry Potter is a perv!
How many lumens?
@iwilsker Is that the same Lumen from Dexter?
@iwilsker 300 Max according to Amazon
“radiation distance”?
But I’m radioactive. So…that’s no distance at all.
you can literally get lights just like this from Harbor Freight for free.
@xEBRONx if by just like this you mean 3AAA powered with 9 generic non-CREE leds, and they don’t even come with the batteries anymore, then, yeah, I guess you can.
Oh, and not black and not heavy and not tactical like black traffic cones.
@djslack aluminum is not heavy, these weigh about 1 ounce w/o the battery
@xEBRONx these flashlights arent high quality for sure, but those flashlights at harbor freight are dog shit.
@alexpope I was just taking the writeup’s word for it.
One AA battery? Pretty sure that I can pee farther than the beam will go. Well, maybe not. But still…one AA?
@jsimsace If your pee can light up the night you might want to see the doctor.
Or audition for the next X-men movie.
@jsimsace
You better have a strong bladder. I tested a similar one, the beam effectively goes at least 300ft.
It may be seen 800m away, but the flashlight holder would not see it after a few hundred.
I can name a few dozen places online where you can buy the same flaslights for $5 each, so this is a big Meh for me.
Other than that, they’re a GREAT flashlight for that price!
@Kerig3 If you can, then why don’t you provide links to a cree branded flashlight for $5 each with a nice case.
Plus for a $1 more you can get one here (cheaper if you buy ten) :

@nmlmmlmn Wow, these are selling fast and we’re busy processing other orders. Try again in a little bit.
“If you can’t say anything good, don’t say anything at all.”
That’s probably why there’s no specs for lumens.
This looks terrible but I love things that light up.
Gizoogled from pics hwawys ultrafit Q5 and results abound - porportedly 500 lumen? https://www.amazon.com/Black-Lumens-Super-Bright-Flashlight/dp/B01GWEX50O
@kabijj or 300 lumens? Or one ultra - FIRE? Or sometimes plastic case? Trust the experts - buy meh exclusive.
@kabijj My Amazon link had the same ones at 5.94$
Yeah I bought these for $5 for everyone i know 2 years ago, but might buy more… It’s probably a price point that hard to make cheaper sacrificing what little quality there is
I have a few similar lights I got from Banggood for like 2$-3$ during a sale, they are decent for that price, 5$ might be pushing it though.
http://www.banggood.com/MECO-CREE-Q5-500LM-Multicolor-Zoomable-Mini-LED-Flashlight-14500AA-p-981982.html
These work with li-ion batteries, if you’re into that.
(I’ve also seen the case for sale separately on the Chinese sites).
@awk They aren’t identical to those offered here though, that may be a good thing .
And here is the case for 1.80$, same goofy “power style” sticker and everything.
http://www.banggood.com/Green-Plastic-Flashlight-Tools-Storage-Case-Box-202x121x65mm-p-1120561.html
@PhysAssist I never know if it’s a copy or if they just all come from the same factory but with different branding…
Wow, paused less than 10 minutes into the sale.
Already have a set of these and happily just ordered more. It’s amazing how powerful the beam is considering it’s powered by a single AA battery. Very well made too.

@lisameh fail/
Best definition for tactical I’ve heard is “can be used as a weapon”.
Oh Meh, you and your servers continue to make me sad. On at 12, busy processing other purchases, unavailable until 8am.
Found a video… At least I think it’s the same one. Not the greatest video, but it’s something.
@RiotDemon Not identical though…
@PhysAssist there are probably 20 versions of this flashlight all with different stamps, all with the same internals, all around 2-5 bucks, and all from the same few chinese factories http://www.ebay.com/itm/10PC-6000Lumen-MiNi-Tactical-CREE-Q5-LED-Flashlight-Torch-Zoomable-Lamp-Power-US-/162315175830?hash=item25cabd0796:g:1WgAAOSwt5hYhHlA
@alexpope Wow! SIX THOUSAND LUMEN! Perfect companion for those TrustFire 9000mAh Li-Ions!
@awk That’s with all 10 on at the same time
@alexpope Yep, they’re pretty much all made by those same few Chinese factories. The factories just stamp them with different logos depending who their clients are. I seriously doubt that the ones sold in the sporting goods stores here in the US are any different, other than the logo and packaging. (they sell them here in clamshell packaging…americans like to shoplift it seems )
Must be very old ,lumen rating is required on lights for years by federal trade commission .you could see a match at 800 meters with a scope
no.no.no.no. paused? I needed these. Dag Nabbit. I’m gonna be shoveling a foot of snow when these go unpaused. (I have one of these and they’re nice.)
dag nabbit.
@wew search for SK68 on Amazon or AliExpress to find some.
@wew
7+ are given away every day on Amazon Giveaways. I won one after a few days of trying.
The only thing of value that I got out of this offer is a gif of HJS itching his junk.
@troy969 Now with sound track. Enjoy!
I have dozens of flashlights but I wonder if the case is any good?
@ponagathos Nope, not really.
I bought this
https://www.amazon.com/Flashlight-Wophain-Zoomable-Adjustable-Accessories/dp/B01M3O8NAO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1489467413&sr=8-1&keywords=Wophain XML T6 5 a few weeks ago. Looks like the same case. One of the closure tabs broke off due to brushing against my pants. My pants were NOT that sharp!
@ponagathos Looking at it on the computer screen I would say it’s not. Looks like a lower quality of this Cheap box without a seal.
@Wolverine350r , @G1
@Wolverine350r So which is which, and each’s claimed lumens ratings?
@mike808 UltraFire left unknown lumens with AA (300 claimed with 14500 lithium), Nitecore right 45 lumens.
That is full intensity/zoom for these with the AA. Zoomed out I would say its maybe half as bright.
Wow. People sure do love buying flashlights. …when’s the last time you needed a flashlight and the flash on your phone wasn’t good enough?
@iynque when I’m trying to investigate what my dog is barking at in the middle of the night. It’s usually some kind of wild animal.
@iynque It’s kinda hard to hold your phone in your teeth while you need to use both hands, for one thing.
@iynque Today, twice. probably 5 or 6 times in the last week.
@iynque Um, like when I need my phone to snapchat my junk to your mom?
@iynque
I just got done with a search for an elderly dementia patient at 4am. My Streamlight Strion is amazing, made the snow look like daylight. Advertised at 500 lumens, puts out actually 500 lumens. No overblown marketing garbage, just a crap ton of light.
@iynque Literally yesterday morning. But I always keep a similar flashlight in my glove compartment so no need to overspend on this crappy deal.
When is meh going to sell these?
http://sport.woot.com/plus/guard-dog-stun-gun-flashlights
@Knightp Already did. Sold the biz to Amazon. You must be new here.
@mike808 We joined around the same time, give or take a month. I meant the item, not the woot.
@Knightp I meant that “Meh” already sold these. It was called “woot” at the time.
$1 less than Amazon? That really isn’t a sale. On Amazon I’m getting 1 day delivery, which is definitely worth $1. Meh indeed.
@p3dal and you have to buy two…and amazon has them for 3-4 bucks at least half the time
I’m oddly happy about this and surprised that I didn’t realize once over the past 3 months since I missed my last meh click…
@00 symmetry is a thing for you, no?
@00 ME TOO!
@00 It’s Pi day! Don’t really know why this is relevant to 888 88. But 888/3.14 =282.8

@accelerator yes…yes…yes…it…it…it…does…does…does…
5 or more are given away daily on Amazon Giveaways. I won one after only a few days of trying. It doesn’t cone with a case, but is pretty good, even for $5.
Anyone else read that in the voice of Sheldon?
/giphy big bang theory
@Jcast617
Oops… “That” is in reference of the flashlight description.
Meh. Same thing at light in the box for $4.99
Is the plan to offer overpriced shitty items until everyone decides to cancel VMP (gaining money from the idle VMP memberships the whole time), then to increase profit margins by collecting shipping charges from everyone who orders?
thank you mehers for an amazing thread!
(and I only read mine and someone elses–I did learn a bit about lightinaabox though)
They’re always free at Harbor Freight. Not military grade, but for the price…
We need another battery sale. Out of AAA and low on AA.
@StrangerDanger go Panasonic Eneloops. Not ideal for everything, but work great for most things.
@RedOak I need to make use of the batter holders i printed out.
@StrangerDanger cool stuff. You have a A^2, the location, connection? (We have several in our family.)
Our collection of Eneloops would fill that box.
Was going to bite, but after reading the comments, taking a pass. Like everyone else, I don’t need flashlights, but they looked cool and convenient. So I guess I just saved $10?
@ACraigL Or you could just save a few dollars and buy the same damn ones for less money elsewhere.
Oh good, they gave yesterday’s buyer another chance! And… failed again.
textual-dandy-ostrich!
Lol MEH RMRC does this every day. And their are Blue and Tacticool!
@paintz2007 Gotta figure out a way to incorporate Tacticool into a conversation.
@msujp So we should start calling our new government leaders ‘tactical’ since they plan on destroying the EPA too.
@msujp Don’t lie to yourself, the EPA isn’t about protecting the environment, it is about lining some suite and tie yuppies pockets with money from the sheep, just like any other government regulation that is put in place.
@paintz2007 Uh, don’t lie to your own self. The EPA has done great things since it’s inception.
https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/the-epa-first-40-years/
@cinoclav Lol ok we’ll go with that… damn that hole in the O Zone layer.
@paintz2007 Even that is getting better!
http://www.sciencealert.com/the-ozone-hole-is-finally-closing-up
@paintz2007 Having lived in SoCal all my life, I remember days in school which we couldn’t play outside because of the air pollution.

@walarney good on Pink Floyd.
@nichojr need me to cancel VMP for you or are you gonna do it?
@shawn looks like I’ve got until April 9, so I will wait and see if I am correct with second assumption…Or someone can just tell us how these came to be…
@nichojr You see, when two Cree Flashlights really love each other, they spend some alone time together. Then, after about 9 months, a stork comes and drops off a tiny little flashlight on the front porch. That is how these came to be. You can think of the $10 cost as an adoption fee. These appear to be twins.
@nichojr you know you can’t get it back if you cancel, right?
@RiotDemon yep… But how many more knives do I REALLY need?
@nichojr Yep I forgot Meh was a charity and how dare they make a profit, maybe we should protest outside their office, #notmyVMP
@StrangerDanger #OccupyMehStreet
@nichojr Best price I could find was $4.22 each for this UltraFire SK68.
@PapaBear $4.02 each, with a 20% discount if you buy more than 20.

@nichojr ALL THE KNIVES! ALL of 'em!
@aardWolf
I was looking at https://m.aliexpress.com/item/32789736552.html#autostay
Meanwhile, I got an offer from PayPal that I can get $5 off an order of $5+ anywhere. It expires tomorrow, so I’m looking at stuff.
I was looking at catshirts (hi @narfcake. Total coincidence btw), but I’ll probably get another flashlight. The current one in my car is cool, but a small strong one would be preferable.
@aardWolf
Ugh. PayPal is no longer offered.
FTFY, @PlacidPenguin. Also blame @mikibell that PayPal doesn’t work.
/image tacticool
@medz That is absolutely the most bass-ackwards left handed shooter I’ve ever seen! It hurts my eyes even looking at that form.
/image tacticool knife
Yeah, yeah, yeah… I see the light.
But warz muh PIE???
/image pie master
Here you go… an Aliexpress order if you so desire. And you can choose your colors!
@cinoclav It may never make it to your coming from there… not worth the 2.14 IMO
@paintz2007 I’ve never had an issue with orders from China. Ever.
@cinoclav price was worth the risk, bruh
@cinoclav I’ll do you one better. I ordered some (very particular small shape & size) li-ion batteries from Aliexpress. They were apparently refused by US customs. The seller contacted me and asked if i wanted a refund or for them to try shipping again. They shipped again, it got sent again.
After all that pain in their ass, the seller finally refunded my $11 or whatever it was.
A disappointment surely. If you could make any interest on savings nowadays. i might wonder if it was a scam. Hold enough peoples’ money for a couple months, interest on $11 might add up. But not at today’s rates.
@medz Lol - The price probably should’ve been a warning.
@danpritts I don’t think the seller was out to scam you, but rather, was caught in the regulations. The manufacturers making the unsafe batteries and the sellers that sell them caused shipping lithium ion batteries to become a mess in the first place.
@cinoclav takes two weeks but never a problem
@narfcake i don’t think so either - they refunded my money, and there’s no way they made anything on the float.
I knew about the risks of cheap batteries but these were
So still a risk, but not anything that really worried me.
@danpritts Yeah. And my comment was a general one about the industry, not specific to that seller/distributor.
Also let’s not forget Samsung’s issue several months ago.
/image galaxy note 7 fire
Several places sell these for under $5 each. I have a few, and they WOULD be a great little flashlight for the price if it weren’t for the tail cap switches going bad. After a few months they just don’t like staying on anymore. Two things are missing from the Meh description: the flashlights are focusable, and the tail cap switch cycles between three settings: high, low, and strobe. Unlike other models, this one will always remember what setting was last used: If you last used it on low, it will strobe when you turn it on the next day!
@PooltoyWolf Post the links so we can buyz them!
@medz If it’s not against the rules to do so! I bought mine from newfrog.com, they’re a Chinese importer. I’m currently at work so can’t spend time finding the exact link, but I’m sure other sites like Amazon and maybe even eBay have them, too.
@medz Errr, my link appears to be broken. Things just aren’t going my way today LOL
Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! You Bastards!!!
@mfladd What took so long for someone to complain that they sold out?!?
@narfcake pfft. Dirty Bastards!!!
Because they had me hitting the “let’s try that one more time” button, over and over.
Crap!!! I was there at the bell!! and Nah!!
…There were only 75 left for VMP members?
@0armada You’re allowed to order before the VMP offering.
@0armada To be fair, they do advertise the status as Very Mediocre Person. So yeah, that’ sounds about right. No Champagne Room for the mediocre.
On the “bright” side I just saved 10 bucks…
Wonder what the correlation is between people who buy knives with people who buy flashlights. I bet it’s high. If you’re gonna’ cut, chop and poke, you might as well cut, chop and poke in the dark too.
@huja I poke but not with a knife. I use what God gave me.
Got these today, they are literally† the same as the ones from China retailers, even down to the mis-threaded clip screws. Just different branding.
On the plus side, owning this plastic box means I am literally‡ in the military now, so be sure to thank me for my service and give me discounts on stuff.
† literally
‡ figuratively
@awk well aren’t you lucky. My box arrived broken and meh isn’t answering my email
@nayrreirg if they don’t answer, you can have one of the plastic boxes from mine… I just wanted the flashlights
@mikibell hey, that’s really cool of you. Thanks!
