If it was $5 for two, I might buy. No, nevermind, I wouldn't, that's even too much for something with Monster on it.
P.S. Double grounded is BS, they both go to the same ground in the outlet, assuming your outlet is grounded, which a lot of old ones aren't. So this could give you a false sense of safety.
Well fuck...again she emerges from the dark alley next to that shitty ass pawn shop. Twofer Tuesday reveals herself with two cans of SURGE in hand...yea, remember that shit! She all but immediately throws the cans at you and screams, "WANNA PROTECT YOURSELF FROM THE SURGE?!...Well, buy these fucking Monster Powercenters. I say nah, I'm good, I like Surge brings back memories of a misspent youth. Ahhhh, rebellion and caffeine.
@huntd I regret I have only one star to give you. Everyone run out and buy Idiocracy by Mike Judge and watch it tonight. If brick and mortar isn't your thing, stream it!!!
these are good but it still gives you only 2 outlets! just get one that turns 2 into 6 + surge protection. maybe even with USB. its not much bigger than this but so much more useful
Well that's an interesting advert on the front page. Green is green, money is money and it's flattering that those folks might be impressed with the eyeballs here.
Don't buy Monster products. They are a shitty company with shitty management and a shitty patent troll mentality. Even secondary or tertiary markets shall not unload their crap.
Actually the reason your analog TV used to fuzz out when you turned on your vacuum is the same reason your microwave kills your wireless-G network -- nasty radio interference on a frequency that the device uses. Shield your vacuum cleaner with a Faraday cage and the TV would come in crystal-clear even with the vacuum running on the same circuit.
Having said which, real line conditioning takes batteries with a decent capacity and good electronics buffering everything, which means real audiophiles (not audioph00ls) should skip these and buy a true-sine-output UPS.
@iggy71 oh meh., oh meh... Thanks for the heads up as your analysis is correct ..so in reference to an old lost in space quote " danger will Rogers' I will take heed ( though I am not Will Rogers) and I will 'jolt' past this mehness !!
@iggy71 Are you 12? Seriously, "rotflmao @ U"? Not to mention, this really isn't the place to post your awesome deals. Go to SlickDeals or deals.woot. I think everyone can decide for themselves if they like this offering or not.
@cinoclav Nope, not 12 - I don't post at your low education level which is why you don't understand the value of my post. Note that some here already expressed appreciation that I revealed meh's faux deal vs. Amazon (why would anyone like meh's offering unless they're a complete fool after helpful information was given to them?). Keep that head of yours firmly planted in your you know what and enjoy your refurb "deal" here at meh. Buyer's remorse is such a sweet reward for the ignorant. Cheers!
BTW, I ALWAYS respond in kind when some dolt sticks their nose in a thread 'attempting' to discredit a valid post that wasn't even addressed to them. Looks like another FAIL under the belt for you. I'm sure you're well used to it though sonny boy. ┌∩┐
@cinoclav Based on your posts your first consideration was obviously faulty (not a surprise) but thank you for conceding your inferiority. Next time think before you post your gibberish smarta$$ (remember, you instigated it, not me, which speaks volumes about YOU). Go crawl back in your hole.
@iggy71 I was really going to take the high road and not even bother responding to your inane ramblings. But... The reason I responded in the first place was due to your blatant insult, referring to this as a "typical meh crap deal." You sounded like a whiny brat, dismayed that the fine people at a mediocre corporation weren't offering you some thoroughly enticing whiz-bang of a deal. Oh dear God, they compared a refurbished item to a brand new item at Amazon! The apocalypse is upon us! Save the children first, they're our only hope for a proud future where dissimilar product comparisons will no longer threaten the realms of society! Did you even stop to consider that they didn't have a refurbished version available to provide an exact price match? You have accomplished nothing more than having formed the opinion that other meh shoppers are unable to rationalize the value of a potential purchase at an internet retailer known for selling items at reasonable discounts... At least now I can relish in the comfort of knowing you sleep better at night.
@cinoclav Your reading comprehension is so inept that you made asinine assumptions about my OP only to suit your "defense" of a company that self admittingly sells crap - their "hottest" seller being their fuku's by far (successor to the bag 'o crap they invented in a previous business model). You obviously don't even know this company's roots which is surprising since you appear to need to defend them from my "blatant [crap deal] insult" (really? lol) with your drama queen rhetoric as though you're invested in their success in some way...weird. Talk about a whiny brat - that's the pot calling the kettle black. Who/ what are you?...an employee's wife/friend/whatever? meh is a big boy, they don't need your help. In fact, critical posts can only make them a better meh. Well, at least as good as something "meh" can get.
Anyway comparing a refurb to new was the least part of of their deceptive ad verbiage yet you focused on that rather than the fact that they compared their price to the highest price they could find at Amazon which was my first and primary beef since on the same page you could easily find a link to the same item for essentially the same price they were selling it. In fact, if you look even closer (I know, I know, it doesn't fit in your bizarre defense agenda...cuckoo, cuckoo) you will find that meh even encourages anyone to "Find a relevant price comparison? Please share it in a comment in this thread :)" Get it yet?
And your "...opinion that other meh shoppers are unable to rationalize the value of a potential purchase" comment is another one of your faulty and ludicrous assumptions. I pointed out a fact that if you actually read my and other posts in the thread rather than focus only on words that got your panties all in a bunch would have seen helped someone out rather than have to check themselves. IOW, I provided a valid and helpful post...try it sometime rather than embarrassing yourself by continuing to post with your...
BTW, my sleep is always good regardless of your tortuous (or should I say torturous) rants but thanks for caring.
@iggy71 Really struck a nerve, didn't I? You took one simple seven word comment, essentially meant as a joke, and turned it into your own personal internet war. And you called me a "drama queen?" You seriously need to analyze your priorities. Just an FYI, regarding my knowledge of woot and meh, I've been a member of woot since July 2, 2008. I currently have 1256 posts on their forums, of which 220 are Quality Posts. I believe I and my posts are reasonably well regarded on both sites as evidenced by those QP's and the general number of stars and positive replies other users have been kind enough to give me here. So, give it a rest before you make @JonT angry. Take a deep breath, move on and maybe read what you write before clicking 'Say it' so as not to come off sounding so infantile.
...the glutton for punishment award. You think I or anyone GAF about your self proclaimed internet "status" and "stars" you ridiculously flaunt as credibility like a pompous a$$? Pretty sure I'm the only one that got an appreciative reply in this sub-thread about the price comparison. All that those ridiculously large stats you seem to NEED to share prove is that you have a pathetic and worthless life. And you say I need to analyze my priorities?
You addressed none of the valid points I made in my last post that prove your lack of credibility and understanding of my OP because you can't so instead you post more nonsense. Bottom line, you are the instigating troll here that has made an utter fool of himself and I have no problem exposing your type. No nerve has been struck other than yours which obvious needs to have the extra and last word. You started the "war" (hyperbole again, really? lol, you pitiful drama queen) and ALSO want to have a final post too - sorry, doesn't work that way (that's how you confirm a troll, capiche). But go ahead and either prove you're undoubtedly certifiable by replying or let it go and start the healing you undoubtedly require. Either way you have lost and sorry that burns. Your breed are so predictable.
@Thumperchick Oh no, not YOU again. Another certifiable #!$&. Apparently you too fell for the faux Monster deal otherwise why in the world would you be revisiting this 4 day old thread? Or is it you like-minded trolls travel in packs and call in for reinforcements when you are embarrassingly beat down at your own game only to be beaten down some more. rotflmao @ both of U.
@Thumperchick No doubt. That's why I didn't even bother reading the last thing it wrote. Though I was tempted, just to see how far I could push it. But I know Jon has to read these and at some point I have to stop tormenting both of them!
I live in the woods and trees take out our power all the time. Luckily, I have a well-used generator, and the Cablevision line is usually unaffected, so I can run the house lights, the well pump, the fridge, the house network and associated hardware. No lights, but food and internet, plus a great excuse to stay home the next day. B)
@StatsGuru that's the challenge - yes, the device successfully passed line current, but you don't know whether a surge that would have fried your electronics ever happened.
We've got surge protectors all over the house (yes, we should consider a whole-house panel protector) behind virtually all our electronics, even the microwave.
But I couldn't tell you any of the brands are better than others based only upon the observation that nothing has fried and everything plugged into them continues to function. That would require lab testing.
Never, ever, ever buy a surge protector with an alarm. Ever. I guarantee that the only time it will go off will be 1am. You will wonder around the house in the dark, semi-awake and still dreaming, trying to track down that high-pitched whine, bumping into furniture, tripping over shoes, and trying to walk through closed doors. And finally you'll find the offending monster [sic] and realize what a bad idea it was to plug it into the socket behind the entertainment center that you'll have to slide out so you can reach the freaking reset button. Finally you'll fall back into bed, sweaty, dirty, bruised, and too tensed up to go back to sleep. All because you bought a surge protector with an alarm.
@hughgrection Yeah that sounds like a pretty terrible idea. Though, to play devil's advocate (Monster is the devil, no?) I have a feeling the vast majority of people never actually check the status of the surge protectors in their surge protectors.
Power conditioning is a topic familiar to people operating server rooms or more sensitive equipment and it's a standard feature of battery backup systems (uninterruptable power supplies). Severe line noise along with larger voltage spikes and drops often occurs with equipment sharing a circuit (and some power sources are inherently "dirty").
Monster is a shitty brand, but the so-called "Stage 1 filtering" is probably legit for reducing high-frequency noise (whose harmonics can produce hum in audio equipment). I doubt these have much capacity to absorb voltage fluctuations that don't trip the surge protection though.
@trisk Most equipment these days have switching power supplies. Very little noise makes it from the input to the output of a modern well designed switching power supply.
I don't buy Monster brand products. Even if I did, I wouldn't spend $9 each for a few capacitors, coils, and MOVs.
If I end up with power line filters, I would connect them to the noise source or sources. One of the microwave ovens in our kitchen produces a lot of RF interference. I suspect it is being radiated through the power line. So it might make sense to put a filter on that cord.
If you listen to tube audio, just the parts to build ONE filter add up to about $25. Throwing in surge protection, and a second unit, it's worth it. AND nobody will see the Monster logo.
OK... Meh I'd order it if it came with the 2 white speaker docks... My white ones keep dying on me... and you keep selling black ones. I don't mind black speaker docks, it goes better with my desk at work, but White goes better with my hone :) :(
Meaningless-Flashing-Barley. What a great order name for a quick impulse purchase I made right after 12am. I've been looking at getting line conditioners for awhile but had I realized they were Monster i might have changed my mind on principal. Still at this price I would have been ok except that they take up both outlets. Oh well I'll plug them into the kids rooms and put Monsters Inc stickers on them and make a theme out of them.
I can't plug them in because there is an extra metal stick i?n the middle between the two plugs that prevents plugging in. What do I do with those metal barrier sticks? Please answer.
@Thumperchick I think they are asking about the black thing just below the top grounding prong...but I'm thinking that might be a switch that presses in when it's plugged in.
@Ignorant Thumperchick The black thing is a screw, which can be accessed from the front. She must be talking about the ground prongs. Perhaps she has an old house that does not have grounded outlets?

@Pufferfishy Well he's not wrong if we just assume that means that meh is lucky.

@michaelahess monster would never overstate to sell product... never!
@michaelahess Well, it does appear to have a 'ground ok' indicator, so that's something.
@brhfl That's the instructions.
"Ground, OK?"
@G1 Is that like Ground Control to Major Tom?
New and improved wire coat hanger.
er... Monster so, no. Even meh is too good for this. But where I am, it's Monday still right? I'm not going crazy?
@fruitpunchben technically its tuesday on the east side.
@thismyusername right. so I am crazy. Thanks!

Do the joules multiply if you stack them together? 2220 joules 4440 joules 6660 joules?
@Ryaneil You mean if you plug one of these into the other, and the first into an outlet!!! Sweet idea...
Eh, I'll think about it for the compact surge protection alone, but my audio equipment is powered by many, many farads worth of capacitors.
@brhfl I read that as "many farquads..." Too much Shrek.
guttural-appreciative-llama
@katfude Thanks internet......
@katfude Is that a Kardashian llama?
Thanks, I'll pass
Family joules
@Fish_Kungfu ya wanna protect them, right?
Remember kids, say MEH ✋ to Monster!
I don't know if I'd trust a refurbished surge protector... Either they worked, in which case they probably burnt out and broke. Or they didn't work...
@Nexar that's what I'm thinking too. I think I'm gonna meh on this one even tho I kinda want it.

@alacrity Holy crap they brought back American Apparel on shirt.woot?!?
@The_Tim Far too late.. I wont be going back to woot again.
Please, please buy these! My fuku hasn’t shipped yet.
(Am I applying reverse psychology to the meh fuku team?)
@tomvarela oh crap, didn't even think of that... I CHANGED MY MIND THESE ARE GREAT EVERYONE BUY 3 PAIR!!!!
I'm glad they labeled both Outlet 1 and Outlet 2 with red buttons on the side. That alone is worth four Monster bucks - right?
these are good but it still gives you only 2 outlets! just get one that turns 2 into 6 + surge protection. maybe even with USB.
its not much bigger than this but so much more useful

@kensey Engineer detected.
@kensey Spent part of my day today in an an-echoic chamber (RF, not audio). Faraday was my bitch this day.
@kensey Even taking into account conducted electromagnetic interference? It ain't zero...
@SIMBM I think that would not affect the TV picture, at least not in a way you could see; you might get some audio hum or pops.
Friends don't let friends buy Monster Cable.

They would try to get someone to buy Monster Cable. Assholes.

I've been running one of these for years on my bedroom TV. Works great.

Any chance this would reduce hum/buzz on a guitar amplifier?
@mclancy Try turning off the lights. I noticed the pickup tends to respond to lights, especially CFL in my house.
@mclancy That's my hope and the reason I purchased - and obviously turning the lights off isn't always an option (though it does tend to help)

I can't plug them in because there is an extra metal stick i?n the middle between the two plugs that prevents plugging in. What do I do with those metal barrier sticks?
Please answer.
@Jane4910 it is meant to fill both outlet recepticles on a standard outlet. The extra prong is to ground the bottom outlet.
@Thumperchick I think they are asking about the black thing just below the top grounding prong...but I'm thinking that might be a switch that presses in when it's plugged in.
@Ignorant I thought so too, but they said "metal" which made me think of the ground prong.
@Ignorant Thumperchick The black thing is a screw, which can be accessed from the front. She must be talking about the ground prongs. Perhaps she has an old house that does not have grounded outlets?
