Buying Guide

We know how this looks: we’ve made a name for ourselves selling just a single thing each day, and now we’re out here offering two bags. Not just two versions of the same kind, mind you. One is a 15.6" laptop attaché made by Case Logic, whereas the other is a 13" attaché from Thule. And yes, despite the names, they are still made by the same company… but that’s still a choice between two DISTINCT products, and that’s not what you come here for. No, you want to choose between ‘buy’ or ‘don’t buy,’ no in-betweens.

Which is all to say, you might not be ready to make a decision of this magnitude. But don’t worry, we’re here to help! Before making your purchase, consider the following:

Are you an abstract or a literal thinker?

Yes, as we stated above, despite different “brands,” both bags are made by the same company. And yet one is printed with the bold “Thule” name, a word that does not exist in the English language, while the other is adorned with a simple tag reading “Case Logic,” a very straightforward and, dare we say, logical name for a company which produces bags. So, which would you prefer on your bag: a mysterious proper noun that might evoke 100 different responses were you to ask a 100 different people for a hypothetical definition, or two words whose meaning could not be clearer?

Do you hope to project elegance or fear?

The specific model of this Case Logic bag is called the “Huxton,” evoking something old-fashioned, like a white-haired gentleman lawyer or a boarding school that future presidents would attend. The model of the Thule, on the other hand, is the “Gauntlet,” a la what is thrown down for one’s enemies. Which do you hope to be associated with: the prestigious, or the ruthless?

Are you steadfast in your approach to the world, or malleable?

The Thule possesses a rigid exterior to protect your computer. While the Case Logic is padded, it’s made from a more durable polyester. So which one best seems in line with the way process things? When life pushes you, do you puff out your chest and push back? Or do you adapt and change?

What size is your laptop?

If you’ve got a 13" laptop, you should get the Thule Gauntlet. But if you have a 15.6" laptop, the Case Logic will work.

Oh… wait…

Maybe this wasn’t really a choice after all.
