Philips Sonicare DiamondClean Toothbrush With App
Our Take
- The best of the best in sonic brushing
- I use one of these and can confirm: you don’t have to do anything with the app
- Get one even if your old one is still technically functional
- Can it make a margarita: I mean, it’s not impossible that this thing could mix a cocktail, right?
A Brush With Disaster
What kind of shape is the Philips Sonicare toothbrush you bought off Meh a few years ago currently in?
I ask because, in writing this, I found a comment @sjk3 posted when we sold this same brush during a Meh-rathon a few months ago:
I will probably be in the market for another Sonicare toothbrush soon. The I one I bought from Meh many years ago is starting to wear out. The plastic handle is degrading and the handle is feeling sticky.
And, to @sjk3 I just want to say: I totally understand.
Well, okay, actually I don’t totally understand. This is not something I’ve dealt with, and honestly, it sounds really gross and unpleasant. But what I do understand is how frustrating it is to grow reliant on Meh as your go-to supplier of great sonic toothbrushes at great prices. Because when my several-year-old Sonicare crapped out one day last fall and there was nary a Philips toothbrush to be found on the sales calendar, it put me in a strange predicament.
On the one hand, there was no way in hell that I was going to buy one of these things full price. I mean, seriously, have you seen that price?? I’m not dropping three figures when I know that one will eventually hit the deal site I’m paid to appreciate.
On the other hand, just like a lifetime of brushing with whatever freebie the dentist threw my way post-cleaning left me unprepared for just how good and fresh my teeth would feel after a sonic brushing, so too was I unready to experience the comedown when the sonic brushing ceased. Like, seriously, performing my own brushstrokes? What is this, the Dark Ages? Give me a break!
Point is, I had to wait. Luckily, only a few weeks (I probably bought the one from the Meh-rathon linked above) but still. It wasn’t pleasant.
Which brings us back to the initial question: what shape is your current sonic toothbrush in? Because, even if it’s still technically functional, you might want to re-up now while you have the chance.
And that goes double for you, @sjk3. Seriously, that sounds pretty rough. Time to get rid of that thing, friend.
