@Euniceandrich I don’t think enough. I got a 2 pack of Sonicare brushes from meh at the end of 2019 and they’re both still working just fine. Don’t think it’s worth pulling the trigger for a few extra speed settings. I like the middle one I currently use.
@seraphimcaduto That’s the way! I’ve never even considered getting the knockoff brushheads from Amazon. Probably full of something bad for your health.
80$ for a toothbrush. I like technology and stuff, but jeez…sometimes I just snap out of it and wonder why I think this is something I need or why is it worth the cost. And then in a few moments I’ll turn on my wireless head set and hit my remote for my ceiling light and lay down for the night.
@thebigtverberg had similar thoughts when my folks gifted us early models of electronic toothbrushes years ago, but dang they work great, my gums are healthier and cleaning at the dentist goes a lot faster
The last one I bought from here stopped charging recently after years of flawless operation. I may have dropped it just before it stopped working. Ok I dropped it! I needed a deal like this, but I decided to buy a Chinese knockoff from Amazon instead for much cheaper. It seems to work just fine, but feels way less aggressive. It was under $20 though, so I’m satisfied for now. It’s this one for $17.99 if anyone is looking to save some money and maybe still get their teeth clean: https://a.co/d/brgMcF0
@warpedrotors you should post back after your next dentist visit, lol. I used to get cavities quite often, but since I started with a Sonicare I haven’t had one.
@warpedrotors I had that wouldn’t charge on my charger, but started charging on my wife’s charger and now charges fine again on either. Suspect I let the battery get too low
Why does everything have to have an app these days? I guess the next time Meh sells a bidet attachment, it’ll come with an app to track how long it takes to clean your butt each time.
@lisagd The app is optional and I think I’ve used it maybe 3x in a year and the app does two useful things, times your brushing and tells you when the brush head (likely) needs to be replaced. Once I realized the toothbrush has an auto shutoff and replace the head like a toothbrush, I never used the app again.
@QU8yNRXWYqyq There have been studies that show that pretty much any electric toothbrush is so significantly better than manual brushing that any further difference between the electric toothbrushes is really not that big a deal. It’s like if your options for travelling are a horse and buggy, a Honda Civic, or a Lamborghini, unless you just have the cash to spare, the civics gonna do you just fine. I got a oral B Braun toothbrush off meh in the VERY early days of the site and it still works. The battery is old and it it only good for a couple uses before a charge is needed but the motor and handle have held up fine. There a bajillion different generic replacement heads that are cheap as dirt. My dentist never has any major complaints about my oral hygiene when I go in for cleanings. That toothbrush cost me like $15 at the time. It’s the Honda Civic of toothbrushes. This thing is a Lambo. All the bells and whistles and will probably start to break down in a few years or so the comments say.
@QU8yNRXWYqyq So far, my favorite discontinued Colgate brush has been able to remove more crap than any of the electrics, faster and with less irritation. This is not true for any other brush I’ve tried. YMMV.
I’ve been waiting on this. Got one for my wife during the meh rathon. It’s amazing. We have older model Sonicare brushes. I almost spent 150 on this one cause I wanted it so bad and it wasn’t as much on sale. If you need or want an electric toothbrush, get this one. Your teeth and dentist will appreciate it.
Got a 2-pack of these from Costco on sale ~$180. Been a Sonicare user for 20 years, and previous units have lasted 8-10 years. This one is excellent, although there are occasional QC problems. Best to buy from a retailer is case of issues. I wasn’t sure I’d like the charging glass, but it’s fine, and only needs charging every 3-4 weeks. Various unnecessary bells & whistles; just brushing twice a day should improve your dental health within a few weeks.
@OnionSoup@rmcclel On the Philips site it says this model is discontinued and I suspect that is the reason for the “refurbished” condition. Chances are they never were in anybody else’s icky gross dirty mouth.
This is good timing! My old Phillips just started freaking out and turning itself on randomly. I gotta say - a battery charge last ages on these. I’ve been waiting two weeks for the battery to die on my old one.
Heads up: you must use the charging base, which is an extra thing that you have to bring with you that doesn’t fit in the case. I like these sorts of travel toothbrushes when the case is the charger… if your trips tend to last longer than the battery will, and you like to travel light/lean, this will be a disappointment
The case is… meh of crappy and doesn’t have any sort of clasp… It’s just a week spring closure. Probably fine, but not secure/reassuring
@jermops I think this model only has the “travel case” which is just a plastic snap case as you say. There have been some premium models that had the “travel charging case” that took a USB input and would charge. The design was from pre-2010 and used the original mini-USB (not micro-USB, and definitely not USB-C, i.e. a 20-year-old cable almost nobody uses anymore). The good news is that these still work with the old case if you have one from this series (form factor has not changed in 15-20 years). But all recent models I’ve seen for sale just come with the basic non-charging case. So yes you’re S.O.L. if you want to take a long trip, unless you have one of the older “premium” cases.
@clarion47 It’s true that if you have another Sonicare (or even Oral-B) toothbrush with an old brush head you don’t use anymore, you can use it to clean the handle especially the part around the base of the brush where stuff builds up.
But after that you probably don’t want to use that old brush-head in your mouth again
@clarion47@pmarin There’s a kind of sticky that comes from plastic breaking down; I have some pots and pans this has happened with. It’s horrible, the plastic just gets soft and tacky and nothing seems to help.
@clarion47@Kyeh@pmarin If It’s not a soft grip plastic, then try cleaning the surface with isopropyl alcohol. I have found that this takes the sticky outer coating off of a lot of those plastics. Unfortunately, some of them, particularly the ones that say soft grip, go sticky all the way to the core, and there’s absolutely no way to fix it.
Not sure if I can trust my toothbrushes to not engage in DDOS attacks at this point. They say it was a mistake and nothing really happened, but that’s just what big dental wants you to believe. First the Quip conspiracy and now this.
@Devotech This usually means that the supplier had fewer available than had been promised, but you can ask over at meh.com/support and they may be able to tell you what happened.

Not buying this without seeing at least 3 recommendations from home plate umpires.
How much difference between my 9350 and this one?
@Euniceandrich I don’t think enough. I got a 2 pack of Sonicare brushes from meh at the end of 2019 and they’re both still working just fine. Don’t think it’s worth pulling the trigger for a few extra speed settings. I like the middle one I currently use.
I own this toothbrush and it’s pretty amazing IMO.i usually get the refills at Costco when they’re on sale.
@seraphimcaduto That’s the way! I’ve never even considered getting the knockoff brushheads from Amazon. Probably full of something bad for your health.
GORRAM IT just bought one for $20 more on Side deal yesterday
@CraigDanger Buy another one here, and that will lower your average cost by $10, so should make you feel a little bit better.
@phendrick genius.

@thebigtverberg I never realized how good premium headphones can be until I got my Sony WH1000-XM5’s. I legit use them several hours every day.
I will say that Sonicare brushes are worth it, but I got a 2 pack of a different model from meh in 2019 and they’re still running great.
@thebigtverberg had similar thoughts when my folks gifted us early models of electronic toothbrushes years ago, but dang they work great, my gums are healthier and cleaning at the dentist goes a lot faster
A charging glass, eh? So that’s what the kids are calling it.

@gwrankin maybe you ran out of places to get cavities.

Are these really 8x better than the Oral-B ones they sell in the grocery store?

Personally, really waiting on a refurbished sale to save the big bucks on one of these.
@rmcclel I know the heads are replaceable, but I’m not sure what my feelings on a refurbish toothbrush are.
@OnionSoup @rmcclel On the Philips site it says this model is discontinued and I suspect that is the reason for the “refurbished” condition. Chances are they never were in anybody else’s icky gross dirty mouth.
But no guarantees.
@OnionSoup @pmarin @rmcclel And … the brush heads are new, not refurbished. Sheesh.
This is good timing! My old Phillips just started freaking out and turning itself on randomly. I gotta say - a battery charge last ages on these. I’ve been waiting two weeks for the battery to die on my old one.

Will this work on my dog? Because he’s a diamond dog and there’s that…
Toothbrush is fine, but the charger & case…

KuoH
@kuoh fortunately all the Trackr batteries are dead or else they’d probably join the attack in whatever limited capacity they have.
Anyone else get order cancellation on these, pretty disappointed with how they handle these sort of things.
@picard1595 likewise… My order of 2 was just cancelled, and as a sorry I get $5??? That’s pretty lousy.
Same thing for me, canceled my order of two toothbrushes.
