FoodSaver V3230 Vacuum Sealing System (Refurbished)
- Vacuum sealer preserves foodstuffs five times longer than non-sealed foodstuffs (can you tell how much we like saying “foodstuffs”?)
- The comparable model we’re linking to above is identical except for the cutting lever, and the fact that it has hundreds more Amazon reviews
- Includes internal plastic roll storage and built-in cutter, for lower-hassle sealing
- Two sealing speeds: Normal, for normal things, and Gentle, for chips and bread and other crushables
- Two sealing settings: Moist and Dry (we’re pretty sure you can figure those out yourself)
- Also seals clothes, papers, toiletries, drugs (the medical kind), drugs (the fun kind), ammunition, etc. so it stays fresh and dry and young at heart
- Model: V3230 (you know, V is a really underrated letter, it’s like a less obnoxious X, or a K who has grown up and decided what kind of letter it wants to be)
Better than the cheapest, cheaper than the best.
We’ve told you all about the things you can do with a vacuum sealer, from protecting clothes and documents, to condensing the contents of your luggage, to sous-vide cooking, to preserving everything from cosmetics to bullets to ganja to, yes, food.
A diligent food saver can use this FoodSaver to also save money by buying mass quantities of food and vacuum-packing it so it lasts five times longer. If you’re shopping at Sam’s or Costco, you basically need this.
Saving money, yay… except don’t try to save too much by cheaping out with a bottom-of-the-barrel vacuum sealer. Because if something is a pain in the ass to use, if it doesn’t do as good a job, your good intentions aren’t going to lift you over that hurdle. Just think about the kitchen and/or exercise and/or outdoor equipment you haven’t touched in months.
Getting your roll of plastic down from the cabinets, then hunting up some scissors, then cutting the plastic by hand, and maybe sometimes your stuff getting messed up when it seals: that’s the kind of hassle you deal with when you use a basic sealer.
The more advanced FoodSaver V3230 has internal roll storage and a built-in cutter, to make its own sealing bags. Doesn’t sound like much. But it means that every single time you use this, it’ll save you a few steps. Which will increase the number of times you use this.
That alone would be enough to elevate the FoodSaver V3230 above its primal ancestors. But it also has two speeds, Normal and Gentle, so you don’t get a vacuum bag full of smushed bread or smashed chips. And it has Moist and Dry settings for optimal sealing of, you know, moist things and dry things.
As usual on Meh, if you’ve got a hundred bucks to spend on a vacuum sealer, you should go get crazy with higher-end models. There are some out there that make this one look like… well, like those cheaper ones we’ve sold before. If money is no object, might as well ride with the Cadillac sealers.
But if you’re one of those mere mortals for whom money is an object, this FoodSaver V3230 will successfully seal more objects for your money.
