A Very Fancy Budget Item

My initial sales pitch for these shower heads was going to be: if you want a nice new shower head, go big or go home!

After all, when I went over to the Amazon pages to do some research, I saw that one of these runs for around $175, and the other for about $180. And this, to me, seems like a luxury item. After all, $180 is roughly $180 more than I’ve ever spent on a showerhead. So the thought was: you don’t want to buy some budget shower head and not get all the good features; if you want a schmancy shower head, you might as well get a real-deal schmancy shower head, one that looks cool and has all sorts of features.

But, reading the reviews–which are very strong, by the way; 4.4 out of 5 based on more than 2400 ratings for the 5-spray option, and 4.5 out of 5 based on 429 for the 4-spray option–I learned that these are budget models, even at the Amazon price.

In fact, here’s what user DSuz says about the 5-spray:

Having ordered a sprayer by Brizo for over $300 (that arrived with a scratch in the chrome), I started searching for a better price. I was intrigued when I saw this in the search results - it looked the same ?!? and was over $100 less… I ordered it, and I’m here to tell you that I cannot tell the difference between the Delta-branded one and the Brizo.

So I needed a new angle. I thought, maybe some reviewers will share helpful tips that I can pass along. But the only thing I found was from this review titled Amazing shower head - but be warned if you remove the flow restricting insert from user theruined:

Shower head pulls a TON of water without the restricting insert. WOW. I can drain my water heater in about 10 minutes as opposed to my previous head which took me about 20 minutes. It does have a high rate of spray and will get your walls wet above what you’re normally used to.

So, theruined, you’re telling me that, upon removing the flow restricting insert, there was less… flow restriction? I’ve noticed something similar with my car. After removing all the mirrors, I have a hard time seeing what’s behind me.

So what’s my sales pitch? I don’t know. The usual.

They’re things people like even for a much higher price. They each have a detachable wand that docks with a magnet. They each have a variety of spray settings. And they look great.

So buy one if you want a showerhead! You certainly won’t be disappointed (unless you’re one of these showerhead weirdos who apparently spend a mortgage payment on a friggin’ showerhead)!
