Cook More
In honor of this cookware set, and a potential resolution to cook more in the new year, we present:
The People You Meet In The Comments Section of Every Online Recipe
- The Substitute Psycho
I didn’t have cilantro, so I used spinach. And I didn’t have pork shoulder, so I used cauliflower. And I didn’t have a roasting pan, so I combined all ingredients in a paper bag and put that in the oven. It started a fire, and everything ended up tasting burnt. One-star.
- The Overtaxed Family Chef
This was SO GOOD! I made it for my family, and now they demand it! Constantly! Sometimes, I wake up at night, and all of them are standing over me, chanting “Tenderloin! Tenderloin! Tenderloin!” I’ve tried to tell them I’m tired, and I need my sleep, but sometimes it’s just easier to get in the kitchen and make it!
- The Incorrect Corrector
Can someone please update this recipe? It’s totally wrong. It says that you need a cup of chicken stock. But you need AT LEAST six! Anyway, turned out a bit soupy and bland. One-star.
- The Overzealous Authenticity Cop
Umm, what??? DRIED CHERRIES?! The traditional Polish recipe calls for RAISINS, you freaking monster! Seriously, I read this recipe right before having lunch with my Polish grandmother. She said, “Something seems to be bothering you, my child.” I tried not to say anything, but she wouldn’t let up, so finally I told her about the dried cherries. She was silent a while. Then, she said, “Babka will take care of this. Just give me the chef’s name.” And I’m sorry to say that I did. She has connections. She will find you. Your best option is to disappear on your own before she makes you disappear.
- The Person Who Just Needs To Find Another Recipe
I’m sorry, but given my gluten intolerance, that is WAY too much pasta. And given my lactose intolerance, that is WAY too much cheese. And salting the water? Excuse me? With my blood pressure? Which is to say nothing about the calorie count for those of us who are on a diet. Just irresponsible! I will not be making this ‘Decadent Mac & Cheese’ recipe anytime soon!
Those are some we’ve seen. Feel free to add your own entries in the comments.
EOY Clearance
Welcome to the End of Year Clearance Event
It’s that time again — when we look at what’s left, what’s lingering, and what absolutely cannot follow us into the new year. The End of Year Clearance Event is where prices get cut, inventory gets honest, and all the “we should probably move this” items finally get their moment. It’s a mix of practical stuff, weird stuff, and surprisingly good deals that exist purely because the calendar says it’s time.
