Hard Anodized Dishwasher-Safe NO on these.
The Health Department has revoked my cooking permit. (Let’s not get into why. I’ll just say, Nobody died, vectored to me.)
@phendrick I’m seeing some conflicting info on these being oven safe or not based on some other manuals of Cuisinart’s Hard Anodized sets. Will have to verify tomorrow morning
@phendrick The interior is stainless, so the dishwasher’s action on the exterior aluminum skin of the sides is probably inconsequential - but do what it says in the manual, I’m just somebody who tries stuff and sees what happens.
I will note that in reference to their “not dishwasher safe” mixer paddles and dough hooks, Kitchenaid states “If a burnished beater is washed in a dishwasher or soaked in the sink, it can oxidize. But, this oxidation is not harmful and can be removed.” I decided to ignore the last four words. Works for me. I don’t care whether the beater is shiny.
@phendrick@troy Other Cuisinart pans I’ve considered were listed as oven-safe up to a specific temperature, often around 425F. This permission is fairly common when the handles aren’t plastic. Glass lids, on the other hand, are almost never oven-safe.
The only stovetop-oriented cookware I’ve used in the oven is cast iron.
The details at Amazon don’t mention “triple ply” and the photos pretty clearly show that the interior surface is Cuisinart’s flavor of PTFE nonstick, but the specs say that they are induction-compatible, so they apparently have induction plates either cast or fused to the bottoms. Ergo, these are basically just PTFE-lined hardcoat aluminum with stainless handles and induction capability. As for being oven-safe, the details on Amazon explicitly say NO.
@phendrick@therealjrn@troy When my nails got ridiculously brittle with age, I started getting acrylic overlays to stop the breakage. And what the heck, might as well go for the glittery vibrant red gel at the same time, right?
@phendrick@therealjrn@troy@werehatrack
My grand-daughter wanted to do my nails too. I had her do the little finger nails and nobody ever noticed. (Or they chose not to say. ) I was a little disappointed. Now she doesn’t want to do my nails. I’m even more disappointed.
@phendrick@therealjrn@troy@werehatrack
Huh. Well that’s actually smarter than my idea of forgoing nails altogether. (Why are the nail beds so sensitive?!)

@phendrick @troy @werehatrack Oh! Pretty nails Troy!
@phendrick @troy It’s amazing what a little RTFM can provide, innit?
@phendrick @troy @werehatrack I just wish more people would care for their appearance like Troy does.

![" Non-PFOA surfactant production
Fluorosurfactants are essential process aids in PTFE production. The surfactant used for the coating on the Cuisinart skillet may be a form of HFPO (hexafluoropropylene oxide), a fluorochemical originally developed by Chemours to replace PFOA. Chemours’ HFPO-based surfactants are called GenX. A few other companies make similar fluorosurfactants. The pan’s package states the coating is “QuanTanium,” and according to Whitford Worldwide, owner of the QuanTanium brand, these coatings are based on “PFOA-free” PTFE. "
I’ve seen descriptions for this 67P-9 set elsewhere that say “premium nonstick interior” and the photos here on meh look like it is some sort of nonstick coating. Is that correct?
If it is nonstick on top of the steel is it their “Quantanium” non stick or their ceramic?
@frozenokie Retailers selling the 67P -9 set describe it as a hard‑anodized set with premium nonstick interiors and tempered glass lids (see Retailking’s listing). Cuisinart’s hard‑anodized line uses a Quantanium® nonstick surface reinforced with titanium (see Whisk’s description of their 12" hard‑anodized frying pan), and I couldn’t find any credible source indicating this set is ceramic. I’m a flawed AI rather than a chef, but those product descriptions suggest this set uses the same Quantanium coating.
@frozenokie “…is PFOA-free, but it is still a PTFE-based coating.” This is the description from the Quantanium manufacturer Whitford.
@Frozenokie The nonstick in the PHOTO is their quantumunobtainium (whatever they call it) PTFE coating, their ceramic is beige-colored.
@Werehatrack In cookware terms the “interior” of a pan is the cooking surface. The term for the layer sandwiched between the cooking surface and the underside of the pan is the “core”.
@meh Love you guys, but you gotta get the AI out of your ears and listen to what you’re saying here. This product description is nonsense. Stainless steel cookware is not anodized; Cuisinart does not offer nonstick coatings on their stainless steel pans; The pans in the photo are hard anodized aluminum with a PTFE nonstick coating and no stainless steel at all except the handle; Stainless steel is never used as a core for a tri-ply pan because it’s less conductive than other pan materials; Aluminum is NOT induction compatible, therefore the pans in the photo are not induction compatible; Nonstick coatings do not survive well in the dishwasher so don’t listen to manufacturer claims that they’re safe unless you want to shorten the life of the pan. Your product specifications are a mashup of multiple different pan descriptions and this gibberish is replicated on the Amazon, Woot, Wal-Mart, and E-Bay descriptions of the same model number. Looks like Cuisinart’s marketing department made a bogus AI spec sheet and everyone just ran with it.
@craftmike thank you for your service
I was surprised to see they were “induction compatible” and seemed to be nonstick, but there was no mention of nonstick in the highlights. Thanks for using logic/information and heightening my suspicions! Saved me regretting a non-IRK purchase.
I’ve never commented here on Meh, but great work by the copywriter on this one. Onion-worthy.
@waxbean2000 real people do these things
Hopefully you don’t have many living near you (or worse, “you” are one of these real people and don’t know it yet)

@craftmike Wearever made the mistake of trying to PTFE-coat the interiors of stainless pots once, about 30 years ago. It was an even worse failure than PTFE usually is.
@mediocrebot Waitaminute, is our favorite non-AI 'bot now detecting duplicate posts and tossing in a snarky graphic as a response? What other surprises have we not been told about? Is this now a treasure hunt???
I owned a similar Calphalon set, and I replaced them with ones that had silicone grips. I never actually burned myself, but the grips got uncomfortably hot with gas burners, especially the 2.5qt pot. I’ve been happy with the change, and the grips are oven safe up to 400F if I ever need to do that.

@mediocrebot Oh, I do not like this bot! I do not like this AT ALL!
@mediocrebot @therealjrn I do not want it in a can. I do not want filled with Spam. I do not want it, pan I am!
There actually has been a variety of higher-grade cookware sets sold here in the past (at higher prices). This might not be the worst, but the sketchy info on nonstick and how it does induction or not makes it more suspect. I generally stay from anything that claims to be nonstick of any kind. Give me polished stainless steel on the interior; I will figure out how to clean it somehow.
I think the best set was a Cuisinart made in France. But cost several x this deal price.
I just received and they Do Not work on induction cooktops as described.
