A Meh-rathon of Sweet Meh-mories

This is a Buxton Ladies Power Tech Wallet. You either know what that is, or can jump in the forum to ask other people about it.

Why aren’t we giving you more info? Well, we weren’t sure what to write for the Meh-rathon so we decided to look at some past Meh write-ups for inspiration. (You can find a random one here, if you want.) Unfortunately, all that did was make us nostalgic and maybe a little teary-eyed. And then the boss was all “Where’s the write-ups, writer dude?” and we panicked and… uhh… Please enjoy this classic write-up about an entirely different product! Also, feel free to share in the forum if you find one you liked or forgot about or missed entirely.

“Retro” is a relative distinction. The cycle of new-outdated-retro depends on how quickly the particular medium changes. For architecture, it might take 40 or 50 years for a style to be reappraised and appreciated. For cars, roughly 30 years. For pop music, it’s more like 15-20 years. And for technology, which iterates and develops much faster than any of those other things, why not one year? That’s how long it’s been since we first sold JBL OnBeat speaker docks, in the golden summer of 2014.

Those were the days, weren’t they? The sight of these speaker docks brings all those old memories flooding back. It makes us want to dust off those old Iggy Azalea and Pharrell Williams MP3s, put on a pair Nike LeBron Crown Jewels (So July 2014! What were we thinking?), and nae nae the night away.

And how will we listen to golden oldies like “Turn Down for What” and “Fancy”? On these vintage JBL OnBeat Micro speaker docks, of course. Along with their hilarious retro styling, they deliver that authentic July 2014 sound. They’re perfect for getting the dance floor at your July-2014-themed party going.

(Of course, the JBL OnBeat Micro was already almost two years old when we first sold it. But that’s the point: nostalgia is all subjective. Your grandma’s curtains, which you remember from your childhood in the '80s, might have been made in the '60s or '70s. But they’ll always mean the '80s to you.)

Things have changed a lot in the last 365 days. We were so innocent back then. We had so much hope for our future, for our dreams, for the NBC action comedy Taxi Brooklyn. We never dreamed that 50 Cent would ever file for bankruptcy, or that Boston’s Olympic bid would fall apart.

We’re all older now, and sadly wiser. But fire up these old-timey JBL OnBeat Speakers with some classic Jason Derulo jams, and for a little while, it’s like the last five weeks never happened. Come on, everybody, let’s do the whip. For old times’ sake.
