Probably a good idea to just change out the smoke detector at this point. They don’t last forever. I bought some new ones and they came with the batteries.
I am using some amazon basics 9v nimh rechargeables. They have been fine for the last few months and I already had a 9V charger from like a decade ago. Mine are also hardwired. So don’t rely on the battery primarily. But yes the detectors should be replaced about every 10 years. The sensors do go bad.

The UL standard was supposed to change in may
Of 2020 to have better smoke detectors. Several manufacturers did not have products on the market and the deadline was extended to June 2021. So if you are planning on replacing all of yours. You may want to verify the ones you buy meet the new standard since you’ll probably keep them for a decade.

If meh sold them we’d likely get 20-50 of them in a package with an expiration date in, say, 3 months, Be careful what you wish for
